First impression of the hotel was it looked very nice. Reception staff were polite but not friendly. Our room was lovely with a good size en suite. Everything was extremely clean. Only thing missing was a plug for the bath. We went down to dinner and were extremely disappointed with the food. The food was of very poor quality and the hot dishes were cold. The breakfast the next morning was no better. After 3 days we had to go out for a meal as we felt we had to enjoy one meal. I would stay here again but on a room only basis
Hotel is clean and rooms are spacious. Location is great for Port Aventura, Ferrari Land and the centre of Salou. Food in the hotel is very poor - inedible not properly cooked food, not much choice, poor cuts of meat/fish used. Rude staff in restaurant.
Upon arrival of the hotel we were swiftly checked in and told about the resteraunt opening times and the facilities they offer which are both free (spa) and payable (gym and safe). Our room was lovely and clean, very modern with lots of space, a flatscreen television, slide wardrobes which were mirrored and a nice balcony. WiFi was available throughout the whole hotel, even in the rooms at no charge which was very surprising. The rooms were cleaned every day and towels and bedding changed everyday too, floor mopped every day also. We didn’t hire a safe and we left plenty of valuables in the room and everything was still there when we got back, meaning very trustworthy cleaners which can be often hard to come around when on holiday. The pool area was lovely and clean, plenty of sun beds for everybody meaning there was no rush to secure a bed. The pool bar served a wide range of refreshments and snacks and the staff were lovely. A team of two young women would come around the pool area everyday and offer for people to participate in activities such as ‘play your cards right’ and many others, with the change to win free drinks, a nice touch to keep children entertained and adults if they wished. The Mediterrani resteraunt served lovely food and a wide range to choose from, the menu was different everyday. We were half board meaning we could get either breakfast and lunch or breakfast and dinner. Breakfast included scrambled eggs, beans, selection of cold meats, breads and cheeses, sausages, cereals and yoghurts. Hot or cold refreshments. Lunch and dinner was usually meats such as chicken, lamb, pork chops and ribs, chips, pastas, beans, a range of seafood, sauces, cold meats and cheeses with seasoned vegetables. Obviously more was available but this is just off the top of my head. I am a fussy eater especially when it comes to eating on holiday but the food here was delicious. Deserts were lovely with many jellies, mousses, ice creams, cakes and sauces and sprinkles available. All food was regularly checked and topped up if it was running low. Me and my boyfriend both loved our stay at this hotel and couldn’t think of anything for the hotel to improve on. Although this hotel is very family orientated, we both thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely book here again.
Lovely hotel and great staff. Especially liked the chaps in the Kingdom of the Pint bar and the lady in the Spninnaker bar. All the reception staff were lovely too, Nice rooms, no charge for the fridge. Great double bed. Seemed massive and it was very comfortable. Would have liked a little table on the balcony. It must be good when they have entertainment outside, i presume thats just in the summer. We only stayed for the entertainment once which was a quiz. They tried really hard to make it entertaining and it was. I enjoyed all the food, sometimes it could have been a bit hotter but they really try and have a bit of everything for everyone.
We’re just back from a 7 day stay at the Sol Costa Daurada. From the minute we arrived to the minute we leaved we were made to feel most welcome from the staff. Check in was quick and easy. We had 2 rooms booked and were delighted (Hubby , Wife , daughter , son) to be allocated 2 adjoining rooms which allowed us to enjoy the space and other benefits that this allows. (2 showers is a godsend). Hotel is very modern and very clean. Rooms are cleaned every day and fresh towels provided. Room safe is provided at a small charge. Fridge and hair dryer included as standard. Breakfast was pretty good and lots on offer - from bacon and eggs to fresh fruit and pastries. Be advised that after 9 it can get a bit busier and you may have to queue. Likewise evening dinner served a variety of choices - some foods rotated while others were available every night. Not everything was to our taste but there was always something there. Good coffee at breakfast. I have read comments regarding having to pay for drinks (including bottled water) at evening meal time. From my experiences this is normal in Continental hotels and can’t understand the fuss tbh. Hotel had three bars - one outside at the pool, one inside which is air conditioned and spacious. Most of the evening entertainment is here. Then there is the Stunning British style pub ‘The Kingdom of the Pint’ which is open in evenings. The bar staff in here are exceptional. One barman in particular ( was working Mon-Fri last week) was an absolute gentleman. Nothing was too much and we were always greeted warmly. He is an absolute credit to this hotel. Hotel location is approximately dead centre between the beach and PortAventura with either about a leisurely 15-20 mins walk. (If you’re tired a taxi is less than €10 from either). Pool area is fairly big and wasn’t crowded when we visited, but I imagine it would be busy in peak season. Staff were pleasant and helpful. I booked the House of Illusion dinner show through reception (highly recommended). We visited PortAventura (4 times) and Ferrari land and the hotel is ideally placed being as close to the parks as possible without being on PA property. (If you are not staying at a PA hotel then a 15 min+ walk is unavoidable). I would also point out that I visited Salou 10 years ago and was not overly impressed. Since then, my impressions are that Salou has improved greatly as a resort suitable for young and old. Our experience at this hotel played a big part in this. I hope to travel to Salou again within the next couple of years and I would not hesitate to stay at the Sol Costa Daurada hotel. Positives - good location, great hotel staff, spacious modern hotel. Good bar staff. Negatives - pool water temperature is too cold at this time of year. Electrical sockets only work when room card is inserted and main light is switched on. This makes charging your phone after a long day a bit difficult.
This is the third time I’ve stayed at this hotel twice before I had kids and now with 2 kids. We think the location is amazing for portaventura world and Tarragona/Barcelona. Everything is nice and clean, the staff are lovely and very helpful. The pool area is always tidy. I would highly recommend this hotel. And no doubt will stay here again if we want to visit the area again.
Stayed here for 4 days towards the end of September on a room only basis. First impressions were great, lovely spacious reception that was spotless. Reception staff were polite, friendly and spoke English very well. Arranged a taxi for us on our first night to get our bearings. Also arranged us a taxi when our transfer failed to pick us up on our return to the airport. Our room was perfect for two, twin beds, built in wardrobes, spacious and again absolutely spotless. We had a small fridge in our room which was a good touch and thankfully air-con too (no extra charge)! Rooms do have a safe but think there may be a charge for them. Our balcony looked over the pool area and was a good size with two chairs for sitting out. Room was cleaned every day and towels changed every day. Pool area was also good, split into two sections so there was a section for children. Nice and cold to cool down from the midday sun! Background music was a good mix of easy listening and chart music. There was a bar serving baguettes, burgers etc. Found the bar prices to be reasonable. We didn’t use the spa facilities so couldn’t comment on them, nor did we use the restaurant/pub so again couldn’t comment on the food/pub prices. Hotel has vending machines for water etc which we used and found to be reasonable – kept our fridge stocked! Location wise we were around a 10-15 minute walk from the beach. Nice pubs/bars and restaurants along the way. Great location for the theme park. Lots of supermarkets around as well for any snacks etc you might want. Only slightly negative comments to note – no table on balcony, no tea or coffee facilities in the room and no plug sockets by the beds. Think the pool area could be busy in the height of summer. Would stay here again without question. Great staff, facilities and location – plus we got this for an absolute bargain!
this hotel is lovely has nice rooms has an English pub at the back of it I only found it the last night staff is helpful special thanks to the guy on reception 24th sept when they sent the bus to pick us up at 5.10 instead of 10.30 in the morning he helped me sort things out. Hotel close to parks. the only thing that really has upset me is I was staying for 3 days before a cruise only items I hang up in wardrobe was my dress and a blouse all new for the cruise in the panic of sorting my bus mix up I left them I contacted the hotel from ship same day to be told they are not here now i can assure you i know they where left there i asked do your staff not check when cleaning roon just to be told nothing found which means someone took my dress and blouse so be careful leaving things as they just disapear and the hotel do nothing wont stay again very unhelpful with this problem
First of all, this is not a 4 star hotel.. It is a 3 star at best compared to others in the area. Upon arrival to the hotel it is very nice to look at but it stops there. The drink prices at the bar are way too expensive compared to other hotels. In the room there is no table on the balcony, just two plastic chairs. There is also no kettle, no coffee or tea, no iron and a very small amount of plugs. Breakfast, this is okay... I mean you can't go wrong with breakfast there is a lot of variety. Lunch and dinner... I would almost certainly not recommend lunch or dinner. It is not nice whatsoever... I guess if you are from Spain, Portugal or Russia then you might be used to the food but it's very raw and even cooked meats seem uncooked and are also cold. I think it would be fine if you like rice or veg but everything else is bit nice.... Maybe it's just a UK citizen thing but food standards here seem quite low. Just a huge note, it is not possible to take your own drinks into the lunch or dinner nor are there any free drinks provided (no water) like there is at breakfast. I paid for water from their vending machine only to be told that its not possible to drink it in the food hall. Lights also get turned off randomly. Sometimes at 11pm, sometimes at 1am . Overall, it's a nice hotel to look at but everything else is just flawed in some kind of way.
The evening shows (that have max 10 people attending) have really loud volum. And they dont stop before 01.00 am!! We had one of the rooms most far away from the show area, and it is impoosible to sleep, and even have a normal conversation with all this noise from the shows!! Will never stay at this hotell again!! Only thing thats good, is that you will never get lost on your way back from down town. Just follow the sound. Only hotell in Salou with a noise level like this.
