I stayed at Hotel Marsol for 5 Nights from 5th April to 10th April and have to say it ranks in the bottom 3 hotels I have EVER stayed in. I will start with the positives... The hotel was exceptionally clean ad the staff were very helpful & polite..... That's it..!!! Negatives - Pretty much everything else, the food was absolutely appalling, what little choice there was, was tepid at best. Location, yes it faces a stunning beach, however, down either side of the hotel are bars that are open till all hours with nobody policing the noise which went on till 4am/5am. We were on the 3rd floor (room 313) which is directly over a bar and facing a scruffy balcony (pictures added) and a brick wall. The hall ways stank of stale cigar/cigarette smoke. No one patrolling them at night time so people left to run riot in the corridors. The shower in our room and in the other room in our party was terrible, it would be freezing cold, then turn scolding hot without warning and no way to control it. I know you don't go on holiday to watch TV but with just 2 English channels (News constantly on loop) You would expect some variation or a way to change the language on English speaking channels from Spanish back to English, people looking to keep children entertained forget it...! The pool is on the roof, nice but small with very little space to sit, maybe 10x loungers squashed round the sides, the surrounding glass and outside areas are splashed with bird poo. The Spa is also on the roof along with the gym. If you pay €10 you can use these facilities for 1 1/2 hours, the spa has a sauna and a steam room, 2 beds to lie on, an outside terrace and that is it. My overall experience in this hotel was less than positive and I would never recommend. Although myself and my party only stayed here for 5 nights, that was more than enough and had we been staying longer we would have insisted on a change of hotel.
We stayed here for a long weekend at the beginning of April. The hotel was very clean, reception area and bar area is aesthetically pleasing and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Unfortunately that is where the positives end. We booked half board and found the food was cold and bland, there was very little choice at dinner time so after the second night we chose to eat out! The rooms were quite dated and our view from the window was onto a scruffy looking balcony. We found the location of our room very noisy, we had a bar directly underneath us and the shouting/singing/bellowing would go on into the early hours of the morning. We cannot complain about the cleanliness of the room, the maids visited everyday and they were very pleasant. As we visited out of season (April) we had a bit of rain, on this day we were in the room a bit longer than planned and we were quite disappointed that they only had 2 English news channels (sad I know). The swimming pool area was very clean with lovely views of the sea, this was a god send on the rainy day as the pool and jacuzzi were covered and the area was nice and warm. If you are planning to stay here then I would suggest upgrading to a seaview room, 1. Because you get an actual balcony and 2. It will be a lot quieter at night time.
We booked 2 rooms for three nights, and were given rooms that the window looked out onto the neighbours wall, you could see the sea at a stretch, considering the hotel only had 10rooms occupied, you would think they would have offered a better view to encourage us back. We asked for quiet rooms, yet we were given the rooms closest to the lifts, meaning that when other guests came out of the lifts at night talking, it woke us up, every time until 2am despite the low occupancy. The walls are paper thin, meaning that you can hear everything that goes on in the next door room too. They told us that there was parking, which there is not. Meaning that you have to go out twice a day to feed the meter on the street. We did not have dinner, as the offering was vastly reduced due to occupancy, and what was there was not appetising. Also, we were not told that the main restaurant and the only bar were closed for refurbishment. No bar. Shame. This also meant that the noise of banging and drilling permeated through the hotel from 8am... The room was clean, the staff were friendly enough. Not a good experience, maybe in the season they lift their game.
Staff were not friendly, booked a room with a sea, got a room that opened up to a brick wall. Food was awful. Did not cater to all needs or dietary requirements. Dogs free to roam around wherever, even ending up in my room when being cleaned by chambermaids. Never ever again. Please do not stay here. I would not recommend. Filthy walls, unhelpful staff.
The hotel is situated in a fantastic location, right opposite the prettiest beach. As i entered the hotel on the first day i got a warm welcome from the reception team, but being a young adult travelling alone I did get a funny look for being in a 4 star hotel on my own. I checked into my room, which i found to be a basic, no balcony old room. I went back down to reception and asked to be upgraded into a better room. They said the only room they had avaliable was a junior suite, so at a charge they upgraded me to which point they started taking me seriously as I was willing to spend a bit more for a better view. When i checked in again to my room I walked in and it was a beautiful room, with a lovely balcony and a beautiful sea view. Better than the shabby room they put me in, in the first place. The hotel itself was kept very clean and tidy and the maids and staff did a wonderful job keeping it clean. The pool and gym were on the 7th floor, rooftop swimming pool again with an overlook on the beach, as well with a very nice jacuzzi. The food in the hotel was not amazing. I only had breakfast twice in my 6 day stay because I was not very impressed and the plates were cold. They had shut off half the seating area half way through service, and there wasn't enough space as it was. Almost had to fight for a seat. As i was alone I had to take a spare jumper or something with me to save my table, while i went to get some food, lunch and dinner, pretty much the same. I would recommend coming to this hotel and staying here as the beds were very comfortable and it is worth paying that extra amount to stay in a room with a seaview, because the view is beautiful, but perhaps not coming for food, and finding a restaurant (which there are many off) locally, and eating there instead. Will be more than happy to visit again. Thank you for a wonderful stay with a wonderful view.
If you don’t are not in one of those few available See-view rooms, this hotel is definitely not worth it. Old, small rooms. Dirty and small bathrooms. Nice roof pool. Horrible breakfast. Very bad service. We paid for 4 rooms and 2 nights, we left the second night, without asking for compensation since it was so sense less.
Booked through on the beach. Wanted to stay at the Miramar as had stayed there before, but this closed half way through my chosen week. The Marsol was a nice hotel all the same, friendly staff and clean. The breakfast in the morning was cold, but luckily there was a microwave that I used daily. The beds left a lot to be desired, like sleeping on the floor. If I had to score it 7/10
Stayed here October 13-20, great location, room bit dated, dark poor view & backed onto the lift shaft so had constant noise from lift, had to wear ear plugs all week.Beds hard. Cleaners very good, towels changed daily. Food wasn't great, Luke warm & not much variation to daily menu, definitely need a microwave handy to warm the meal. Great bus service short walk away & fantastic beach/front outside the front door. Plenty of places to eat & drink.
Fog at Liverpool airport delayed flight, so too late for dinner.2 hour transfer to hotel too tiring.Fortunate to have sea viewroom. Cleaners excellent.COLD PLATES FOR BOTH MEALS!!Chef did good omelettes. Lamb chops and some other meats POOR Super holiday and good location.Waitresses pleasant. Coffee and Brandy after meal in bar area very enjoyable. Best of all Ishmael, in reception, is the star in your hotel!!! he helped us by sorting out the retiming of the pick up as Ryanair flight meant 3 night extra ,at the hotel but in a lesse different room. He also printed out twice the original boarding passes, which he did prior to Ryanair email at 8 15 pm advice of next day flight cancellation So he printed out the new passes. However ,should we return it will be via Girona airport only 30 kilometres away.We used the Indoor Pool almost every day. Good hotel at great price. Great location. We get room without balcony, no good view at all. Room nice and very clean but dark. Food nice however not a lot of choice from. Will be nice if will be more variety to choice from. Good customers service
