We had a lovely week long break in this fabulous resort. Yes, it is not perfect but it certainly is quirky. There is something for everyone, pretty much all kinds of sports, swimming pools, a slide and the beach of course. The apartments are not the best however the lovely views, the facilities and the food will finally win you over. A car is recommended because then you can go to Tossa for shopping etc, and stop at several coves along the way. The kids club / sports team is amazing, they will go out of their way to take care of your children. Overall a fantastic place if you are not too fussed with the living quarters. Pros: Spectacular location along a private cove High quality, absolutely amazing food in the buffet Loads of activities on ground and in the sea Great standard of evening entertainment Warm, friendly and very helpful staff members (probably the warmest staff you will ever meet). No need to carry cash Cons: Apartments are a tad dated No AC although we heard that they are upgrading a few of them with ACs!! Loads of wasps! Hilly terrain may not be suitable for some health and safety needs to be looked at because the way down to the beach right at the end of the resort is slippery and contains exposed iron bars, if you trip and fall on them, I am sure it will hurt. Top tips The glass boat trip to Tossa is a must do! Hold on to your phone tightly in the boat, if you drop it, it goes straight to the bottom of the sea. Choose an apartment on the top floor as away from the entrance as possible to get stunning views. Check the opening and closing times, e.g. the indoor swimming pool only opens after 4pm and the slide shuts down after 5pm Indulge on the delicious Hazelnut and chocolate cake , probably the highlight of the trip Have multiple copies of the weekly schedule, it can get hectic so prebook in advance! Leave the restaurant at the beach after the nightly entertainment so that you dont have to queue at the bottom for the funicular! Ensure you use the swimming shoes because there are stones and pebbles in the sea, the beach is very sandy though. Go half or full board because the food is too good to be true.

My partner my daughter, 6 and myself had the worlds most okay ist holiday. Good Location, nice beach, lots to keep you busy. I was a bit taken back by price water e2.50 far to pricey. And everything else seemed to have a giverola tax. So bring supplies! We went self catering, and our kitchenette was pretty rubbish. Microwave sink and 2 hobs. That was it. If I went again I'd probably go half board. We ate out in the beach side restaurant once which was good. Can't tell you much in the buffet but didn't hear any complaints. Paying extra for sea view didn't give Much of sea view, pretty sure Most have sea view anyway. You need to be fit, Lots of hills and lots of walking. Entertainment in the evening was pretty rubbish, the African acrobats were the only positive. The flamenco fusion night left me with nightmares! Lots of French and Spanish guests not Many English or German. All in all 5/10

The resort itself is very good (sport facilities, activities, etc). The rooms are terrible, there is no air conditioning, and there's a serious ant infestation going on. Overall, I think I have overpaid for the quality presented. Mind that parking is charged, and there is virtually no where else to park.

Giverola boasts a huge range of sports and fitness activities, located in a stunning bay and headland on a near-private beach. Activities are run by the sports team, who are dedicated to providing a fun, inclusive holiday where all the family gets involved, either through organised events (family football), through kids' clubs or just borrow the Resort's equipment. Food in either of the two restaurants is excellent and varied. Buffet highlights were beef Wellington, grilled fresh fish, sushi and a huge dessert buffet, including a chocolate fountain. A la carte restaurant (great sea view) offers Spanish and European dishes, as well as magnificent pizzas. Days can be spent relaxing on the loungers in the gentle breeze, but that would be to miss out on so much. Our typical day includes some combination of 8:00 jogging, 9:00 yoga, 10:00 aqua gym, 11:00 archery, 12:00 swim and water slide followed by a deserved lunch, maybe at the beach bar. Afternoons are for mini-golf, tennis, pilates, fitball, family volleyball and a final swim of the day. Enjoy the late evening sun on your balcony with a glass of your favourite. Then dinner in an onsite restaurant or self-catered in your room at your option, before heading to the varied evening entertainment of flamenco dancing by a local flamenco school, magic show, live band, gaucho, acrobat or quiz. Return to your balcony for a night cap under the stars to reflect on the day's achievements. Then repeat. It's an awesome place to throw yourself into the activities. Our kids are 7 and 9 and love the opportunities inside and outside the kids' clubs. 2017 visit was our 4th visit. Hopefully not our last. Negatives? None really. Accommodation is comfortable, rather than luxurious and be aware that Saturday check-ins are busy. But take a queuing ticket, order a drink from the bar next door, and you will be checked in soon enough. Few guests from the UK, a true European experience. 6 stars out of 5.

Terrible experience. They charge you for EVERYTHING. They have beautiful tennis courts, the hour 16€ with "material" 12€ without. Did you loose your room key? That will be 80€. Did you also loose a golf ball due to a malfunction on the golf course? that'll be 2€. A bus driver from the hotel crashed our car, we went to the reception to complain after the driver refused to give us the ensuranance information and THE OWNER came out yelling. He said that he was going to check the surveillance cameras. He said that in the footage there was no sign of a crash, he refused to show it us and stated that nothing happened while there was sign of a wreckage in the RENTED CAR, which was not even ours. I reccomend not going to this place, while there are others in the area which are WAY BETTER and cheaper. This place is designed to spend money since they charge you for every extracurricular activities without informing beforehand. Also be careful because it is full of bees and wasps, i got stung by not 1 neither 2 but 3, it is also full of other insects such as ants. Mind you the room DOESN'T have internet, there is wifi only in "common places". DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE, DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR AND PICK ANOTHER PLACE

We have come here for years now and there are always things redone and renovated. Our stay is as always very relaxing, we enjoy the superb beach and water, pool for swim training and just the sports possibilities like perfect tennis trainers and a very attentive director's couple.

This resort has everything a family needs for a nice and wonderful summer vacations. The only thing is that the drinks they serve in the restaurant needs a lot of improvement, really urgent, so just ask for beer. :-)

We were on a nomad holiday in Spain after a plush stay in Barcelona. My 14 years old twins were tired of restaunt food, so a kitchen was a must. By some miracle we were directed to this resort, it was not luxurious but it had everything we needed, included a small but a very well equipped kitchen. The balcony overlooking the ocean was another plus. The Indoor pool was gorgeous, staff was very friendly there and I even got a great massage. The beach is beautiful, the water absolutely divine. People did come by car or boat from other places but it never got too crowded. I decide two extend out stay to an extra 2 nights, thanks to Isabel at front desk it no problem. The little super market was incredibly convenient and so was the proximity to the nearest town, Toss de Mar. On another note there was tons of activities available throughout the property, including extensive tennis courses. The only thing I would not recommend would be the restaurants, other than that it was an excellent stay. Absolutely perfect for families.

We stayed at the Giverola Resort between 21st June and 2nd July. We had 2 studios, one for 2 adults and a 3 year old and another for my parents. Positives: Beautiful peaceful location, above a picturesque bay Facilities are very good and clean - excellent heated pools, splash park, waterslide, tennis, volleyball, mini golf etc. etc. Lots to do but if the weather is not good, then it's more limited Food is excellent - good variety of freshly cooked food, always something tasty to enjoy Staff are friendly and helpful, though sometimes a little too eager to take your plate before you've finished eating. Nice beach with good snorkelling (depending on current, some days the sea was full of litter that had been washed in) Rooms have a handy kitchenette. Snack bar by the beach was very reasonably priced. Negatives: Rooms do not have air conditioning. We arrived during a hot spell, weather 35C, rooms had been shut for a day or two and were like an oven. It was impossible to sleep and very uncomfortable. The ceiling fan was useless and very noisy, just wafted hot air everywhere. It spoilt the first few days as we couldn't sleep at night and were tired during the day. Am very surprised there wasn't air conditioning available, most Spanish hotels have it. The buildings are old but this issue needs sorting out urgently. We arrived on a transfer bus that dropped us in Tossa de Mar 10 minutes after the last scheduled bus. Having phoned the hotel to ask if they would wait for us, they said no which I thought was a bit unkind, especially as it was so hot. It wouldn't have hurt just to wait 10 minutes for us. The same thing happened on the return, they wouldn't put a bus on for us, despite 2 hotel vans going in to Tossa de Mar at the time we were going. It cost us €31 in taxis. Location is quiet and peaceful but unless you are happy to stay put, then you need a car which is expensive to hire. I would only recommend a week here as it does get a bit repetitive, even if you are a sports fanatic. Beach is public and you will have to share it with day visitors from the Tossa de Mar boat. It is not easy to get in and out of the water due to rocks so you need shoes. Not suitable for those with limited mobility. Lastly, if you are British, then take note that this is a Swiss run resort and the majority of guests are either Swiss, German, French or Spanish. If you don't like mixing with other nationalities or don't speak any Spanish or German or are not confident to try, then go somewhere else. There aren't any activities for British children in the kids club. This didn't bother us and we knew about it before but do bear it in mind if you're considering staying here. Overall we had an enjoyable stay but would not return unless air conditioning is fitted in the rooms.

This place was booked almost on a whim - we had bad weather change our plans and we were looking for a one-night stay along the Costa Brava on our way back to Barcelona from France. What a great place, especially with our 6-year old kid in tow! Our son didn't want to leave and we really wished we could have stayed a lot longer. The place mainly seems to get German vacationers who drive down hours in their Audi wagons loaded with gear for a week-long experience at the resort. The place is a great value and the kind of place you should really enjoy for multiple days or a week or more. Beautiful spot overlooking the coast. Cute little beach and tons of activities built in. Would love to return - there are activities for all ages and the place is ideal for families.
