Just come back from this hotel and to be honest would not stay here again, food was horrid and very limited ,rooms needed updating ,hotel waiting staff need customer skills the only thing good about it was the location
booked this hotel on reviews and pics but trust me this was like FAULTY TOWERS very outdated and really needs some money spend on it, our room was with a view of a building site (start work at 7am in morning) had to ask for clean towels as not had one every day, FOOD if that's what you call it, I know you don't expect much for what you pay but this is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at for food you would not even feed it to your PETS and it was STONE COLD, we found local place to eat out and not that expensive, juniors just down the road is a good place to eat. Staff don't speak English and don't understand you or make out they don't, they advertise BOB,s open every night Ha Ha been closed for over a year, would I ever stay here again NO WAY worst hotel I have ever stayed at
When we go away I usually always take into consideration the previous reviews, this year however we had a tighter budget. As I had previously visited Calella before, we went to this hotel mainly because the location, I’ll get the only good thing out of the way: the location is excellent! Location: Literally across the street from the beach, there is a train track that runs in front of the hotel (train station a 10/15 minutes walk away with regular trains into Barcelona). Shops, restaurants, tobacconist, pharmacies all within a 5 minutes walk. As I mentioned trains, our room was external on the side of the 6th floor. The noise didn’t personally bother us but if you are a front sea view room this could possibly disturb your sleep. There are two lifts in the hotel which cannot hold more than four people if they do they alarm. This can be an issue when it’s busy check ins/ out or meal times. Rooms: We arrived late evening and when we went into our room it was a big disappointment, including a balcony not even big enough for one chair. You do usually get what you pay for however I had paid for a sea view which the next morning the receptionist disagreed with me about even though I had a email from them confirming the sea cue booking. She told me to speak to a manager the next day, surprisingly he moved us without an issue or hesitation. The rooms are cleaned everyday and done well, always clean towels. These rooms are very BASIC though! Not even a hair dryer (remember to take your own). The beds are like metal camp beds, not what you would expect in a hotel, room, the rooms need to be updated! Don’t bother booking an internal room, the rooms literally have one window if you’re lucky and that looks into other peoples bathrooms. We requested late check out, €30 if possible but this was not possible for ours even without the receptionist checking? Food: We only ate at the hotel twice even though we had paid half bored. Message for management: You do not serve chicken nuggets and spring rolls for breakfast! Food was unfortunately always cold. Chips, veg, pasta and I’m sure the meat was not kept at a safe temperature for the amount of time it was kept there. The fact the staff could bring food trays over in there bare hands should have warned us. No drinks served with dinner, not even water. EVERYTHING has to be purchased. Pool and area: This wasn’t cleaned until day 5 when I personally begged the manager for it to be done, we had to empty the rubbish ourselves to get rid of the flies. The floor is muddy, shower area filthy and there was no working filters on the swimming pool which led to muck build up around the sides. The staff looked unhappy? Avoiding guests and ignoring you till they finally looked up from reception. Meal tickets were also taken off of you like you would expect it to be done at passport control. Entertainment: What’s that? Apparently this hotel doesn’t have a clue either. Absolutely nothing in late September. The only reason I would return to his hotel would be for the location, I would definitely not consider going half/ full board again. This is my honest experience, I am not someone who expects 5 stars when it says and I’ve paid for a 3 but I’m not even sure how they manage to keep them.
Just been here for a 4 day break. Good points. Right on the beach with lovely views if your on the sea front rooms. Good nudist beach at the end of the main beach near the rocks. Bad points. Food all very bland and every single meal it's all just warm and far from hot. Train lines right in front of hotel with trains bowling up and down all night waking you up. Staff just seem to blank you or pretend they carnt understand English. Would I come back !? Probably for a few day break self catering basis but not for any longer than that.
You get what you pay for , so the saying says. So true. The hotel is clean and very outdated, very tired and could do with a fresh management team. The food is colder than the pool but guess what if you want to warm your food up you can pay 1 euro to warm it up in the microwave, result. A nice break in a clean bit tired hotel. But look elsewhere for food because it's dreadful.
just got back on the 30th after 10 days one of the worst places i have stayed staff ignorant dont want to know you food terrible chicken nuggets and spring rolls for breakfast diner was always cold no matter what you had i walked out of the lounge after having slops so i picked up a peach and tarted to walk out the door and the waiter told me to put it back that i could not take it with me unreal oh and you can only get tea coffee orange juice at breakfast no drinks with diner unles you payed for them hotel from hell and it was full of german teenagers runing a mock complained to reception about them the noise was terrible they were just running around the first level screaming and shouting reception told me it was not her problem and i should should deal with it myself so i did then she came at the back of me and told them to get out room was cleaned everyday but no clean sheets were put on beds they just swept and mopped the floor pool was disgusting filthy never been cleanded all the time we were there rooms need refurbished totaly no entertainment in the hotel then again there was not much entertainmemt anywhere just restaurant bars disco was never opened next door nor was crazy daisy the town was a nice place to walk about but SORRY TO SAY I WONT BE BACK EVER
After booking I read bad reviews on here, so i was a bit worried. I found the hotel to be ok. Staff were very helpful. Nice little room at side of the hotel on 4th floor with sea view. Meals were buffet style so you could have as much as you like. Iron man competition was on while i was here so a lot of the athletes where staying in the hotel. I would stay here again.
The hotel is very 1970s with dated and worn out furniture and decor but clean. It's quite noisy both outside and inside with fairly thin walls. The food was ok nothing to write home about much like a work canteen. Lots of fruit available which was always good. A glass of local wine 1 Euro!! Good location on the beach. All in all pretty good value for the amount of money we paid.
Culinary/hospitality and hygiene improvements REQUIRED. If I were to write a daily account of the last week I'd be here a long time. For starters I will say the location of the Mont Rosa hotel is fantastic. A 30 second walk from the front door to the beach and minimum of a 5 minute walk to the town centre. The views, food and culture of the town of Calella certainly helped make our holiday positive thus outweighing the travesty of the hotel it's self. If you are anything but British then this is the hotel for you however if you are then avoid this hotel at any cost. The hospitality of the staff seemed very unwilling to help or engaged in any kind of conversation nor the flash of a smile towards us from receptionists to the the restaurant staff. Asking for the pool to be cleaned from all the bugs and leaves prior to going for refreshing swim and cool down. Prompted a response in German to a German couple sunbathing "the British are moaning about a few bugs and leaves" Maybe they enjoy swimming and inhaling that sadly I do not. The cleanliness of the pool mould around the pool edges, bins over flowing with rubbish. Not to mention the current building works behind the hotel with the workers gazing and drooling as they work and shout comments towards your better half whilst she sunbathes. There are plenty of sun loungers and chairs available and the sun you will have on you all day which is a bonus. The food for €2.95 for an English breakfast and a proper filter coffee the Alcatraz pub I honestly can say you'll enjoy the food a whole lot more than at the hotel. What can I honestly say if you want chicken nuggets and potato croquettes for breakfast and for the croquettes to be available for selection that night again then you are going to be in your element. One night we had chicken and as I stripped the carcass of the meat it was still bleeding and mad dash to the porcelain throne shorty followed. The availability of even a glass of water with your dinner is not available if you wish to have one then be prepared to buy it. The food was terrible. The rooms- if you are on the sea front on the 4th floor and above you will have a stunning view of the coast line as they sit above the trees in front of the hotel. Sadly if you are at back a view of a building site is in store for you. My partner and me were in the middle on the 2nd floor our view was of the next door neighbours bathroom and rubbish from repairs within that void. Ropes hanging down no idea what they are there for and the occasional man walking on the roof of the first floor as he makes repairs or whatever he was doing before he peeked into my bathroom window whilst I was sat upon the throne. The room itself 3 camp beds on wheels single camp beds that is. So if you wish to spoon the Wife/gf or partner under a flat sheet and blanket covered with fag burns in a room where the air conditioning doesn't work the temperatures will certainly be rising for you tonight. The bathroom was the better part of the room modern suite walk in shower good for when you want to freshen up before you go out for the evening to enjoy the local amenities. The food and hospitality of the town is great. Don Corleone's restaurant we went for our final two nights the food was fantastic and you had front row seats to the festival which began this weekend. On a final note to my review of the Mont Rosa hotel check in and check out is as easy as 1,2-3 the unexpected bill of CITY-TAX which apparently everyone has to pay asking what it is for all you will get is everyone has to pay, you can't even question it apparently. If you wish to enjoy your holiday in Calella throughly then please avoid this hotel.
A room with no view not even a window . Food was slop Breakfast stale Staff rude and unhelpful I would not recommended this hotel to any one The pool was small and dirty which was only cleaned once in the two weeks Sheets where only changed once
