Hotel is on the beach which is shingle. An underpass takes you to the shops and bars. The underpass is clean and well lit. Rooms are clean we had two double beds which were very comfortable. Staff were mostly happy and helpful. Entertainment was hit and miss mainly miss. Drinks were good in plastic glasses but you get used to it. Food was pork fish and salad every day just cooked in different ways. If you are fussy this hotel might not be for you. All in all you get what you pay for.
we had a nice time here food was ok loved the tapas around the pool area the pool area had a times overflowing bins tables not cleaned enough but maybe under staffed central location which is good to visit santa susanna as well
I have given 2 stars based on the room and the noise every night due to the entertainment being right under our room. You may ask why this was such a concern we did take the time to email the hotel and ask for a quiet room to be given this room was a joke. Whilst I appreciate they can't always meet everyone's needs there were rooms in a quieter part of the hotel available. The bar staff are fab work really hard and the lady Ola on reception great. The dinning room staff awful beyond rude. Made you feel as if you shouldn't be there and if you dare to take a table that you weren't ordered to 😥 The hotel is very clean rooms basic and need updating. Have stayed in better 3 star wouldn't go back
The staff at this hotel absolutely excellent. I have mobility problems and they could not have been more helpful. The food was good and the hotel is on the beach front. The entertainment was good and varied. The only problem was that to get to the shops or bars you had to go under a subway and for somebody who has walking difficulties this needs to be taken into account.
Myself and my partner arrived back home today after a 7 day stay. I read the reviews before booking so I knew a few of the issues before going, but for the price we were willing to risk it. I'll list a few of our issues, reception staff unfriendly and blunt on arrival, one of doors in our room had a handle missing leaving sharp holes and they had just added a latch lock which the maids left open EVERY day so we had to go up and lock it. The rooms are very run down and don't look thoroughly cleaned, the shower had lime scale and leaked all over the floor every time. The repairs to the room looked like a bodge job. The food made us ill with bad stomachs for half of our stay so had to go out and eat a few times, this has NEVER happened to us in an AI hotel before. We are both still suffering now. The first night after being up since 2am with 2 hours sleep we went to bed at 8pm, our room was above the entertainment and we got woken up by the loudest music at 10pm. We stayed awake until 11.30pm and then went back to sleep when it stopped. If younl plan on being in bed before 11.30pm this hotel is not for you. Didn't bother us any other night as we stayed to watch the entertainment which was ok. We booked an adult hotel but it was more like an OAP hotel, which was ok just something you should be aware of. Pool is small but ok and the "beach" is painful to walk on, it's more like pebbles so could only walk so far on it. The entertainment, bar and restaurant staff work very hard and do what they can with what they have. All in all we had an ok holiday taking into account the above, the highlight was getting the train to Barcelona for the day on my birthday as it's only an hour away. 10 euro return and the station is a 15 minute walk.
This hotel cannot cope in the event of bad weather. We had a massive leak in our room due to a heavy rain shower. We returned to our room after a night our for the beds to be soaked. Went to complain at reception only to be told to sleep with 2 adults in one single bed, the night porter did not speak english. We eventually got moved room only for the temporary room to smell heavily of sewage. In the morning went to ask to speak to a member of management only to be told they would not come and speak to me and have the receptionist shout at me. Hotel smells very bad in the event of rain. Strong sewage smell. I would avoid at all costs unless you want treated like dirt. Awful
After reading mixed reviews I was a bit worried. , but shouldn’t have been a great hotel very clean , food was good staff and entertainment was lovely , more of a 4 star than 3. Drinks were great quality ,the beds were amazing , on the downside. Didn’t get the room I had ordered , which was disappointing but only stayed a weekend so didn’t want hassle of having to change rooms after s long trip , And the journey from airport was a nightmare , if I stayed again I would get the train from Airport to the old town ( 5 Euro”s) And that journey would be half the time , and less stress , but overall had a great time and would recommend ,
We were a bit sceptical whilst waiting to go to this hotel, we booked first an read reviews after, a big no no i know. We arrived at the airport, theres a lot of construction being done there and we arrived in the wrong terminal from the tour operator, a good 10 minute walk away. We were then led as a group out the front and another 5 minute walk to wait on the transfer coach. The transfer was ok, about 1hr 20 mins but were just dropped off and ushered to the underpass in Spanish, the coach driver didnt speak any English whatsoever. It was just as well we had read the reviews and noted the usage of the underpass, plus we could see the hotel on the other side of the train tracks. On arrival we went to our room which was large, clean, and spacious if not a bit dark being in the corner on the ground floor. However the bed was very uncomfy, more like a camp bed with a mattress about 1" thick, i came home with chronic back pain. We were given the obligatory AI wristbands but given a scrap piece of paper which we had to produce every meal time, why i dont know when we had wristbands lol. Anyway the food was rather repetitive, fish, pork, liver, and a casserole consisting of hot dog sausages, peas and onions, rather salty, my wife had chicken skewer kebabs and bit into chicken which was still raw in the middle, she wasn't the only person to do this. My wife lived on chip butties and salad for the 10 night stay, unless we ate out. She was gutted. There's also a salad bar and desserts aplenty, although we noted a lot of people eating the mini ice cream tubs rather than cakes etc. The outdoor bar staff were excellent, Javier never stopped working and Yan on the indoor bar at night was the same, these 2 employees are a credit to the hotel. A couple of other things that were a bit of a let down about the hotel was firstly the back ground music during the day, it was the same everyday, we knew the playlist off by heart by the 5th day, and all the drinks day or evening were served in tiny plastic cups, there are no children at this hotel but if you go to one of the sister hotels, the Europa Splash or the Dorrada Sor where they are full of children you get your drinks in a proper pint glass or wine glass....WHY ?????? surely it should be the other way around, this is an adults only hotel, can we not be trusted with big boy / girl glasses ?????? You can use the facilities at the other 2 sister hotels with your wrist band, go under the underpass the Europa Splash is left the Dorrada Sor is right both about 200 mtrs if you dont mind screaming kids that is. The swimming pool is filled with filtered sea salt which was always clean if not rather cold, plenty of sun loungers around but if need be the beach is right outside, although the sand is very sharp, it cut my toe just walking over it, wear footwear. If you decide to go into the sea beware, it gets deep very quickly, step out 4 or 5 steps and it drops around 4ft and getting out the sand is like quick sand at the waters edge. The entertainment at the hotel was ok, there were 2 stand out acts both male vocalists doing David Bowie, Queen etc. My Wife has vowed never to go back to the Hotel Amarigua, shes been to Spain a lot of times and thinks Spanish AI has gone right down hill, Id say the hotel is more a 3* hotel not a 4*, its very basic, that age old saying " you get what you pay for " we didnt feel that we did get what we paid for.
Returned to this hotel again this year it is even better than last year, the staff were fantastic, food was wonderful, a special touch this year is that they have put kettles in the rooms, for an all inclusive hotel this is a bit special. The splash pool has been covered over which is a shame because it was wonderful to sit on the edge and dangle your feet. It is now an extra tiled area which we made full use of. Some people complain of chips with everything which is unfair as some people like them and there is always something like rice pasta etc to choose from as well as other potato dishes. As returning guests it is lovely to be met with a sense of familiarity from the staff, the hotel has a lovely atmosphere. There was even more choice of snacks from the outdoor bar, with the bar staff making fresh canapés of different varieties each day, would be lovely to have cider on draft as many of our party are cider drinkers, obviously people are on their holidays and having a wonderful time but some of the late night revellers were particularly loud at going on 2 o’clock in the morning, it would have been nice if the night porter had reminded them that there were people trying to sleep, we noticed there was a different person this year, however this is not a complaint, and are already planning our return next year to the Amaraguia. Overall this is a fantastic place so pleased with it, it is a good touch that you can also use the other 2 hotels in the group in this resort with your all inclusive band
Ok so the location is great, rooms are quite nice, food was ok but not brilliant and a fair bit repetitive and the staff were very nice. My girlfriend and I went there as a just a holiday to chill and relax nothing too crazy. This hotel does seem popular with stag/hen do's which I wasn't aware of. Unfortunately this let to a fair bit of late night/early morning noise over the weekend. This wouldn't have been too much of a problem if the walls weren't paper thin. Literally could hear ever word next door said. At 5am one more some couple were obviously trying to close their overpacked suitcase as screams of "harder, harder, harder" rang out from somewhere on the floor above. Unfortunately I am a light sleeper so this noise caused an issue for me and slightly detracted from an otherwise pleasant stay. Staff were brilliant and drinks were always fine, bar snacks were limited to hamburgers and ham and cheese toasties though.
