We've just returned from a weeks stay here at the four star hotel. It's more like a 2 /3 at most! I've been coming to pineda for 15 years now and stayed every year at the hotel sorrabona next door. Always wanted to try this hotel as it seems to be more lively and a bit different to the sorrabona but I was very disappointed. Safe to say we won't be coming back! Staff are friendly and helpful but the hotel lacks everything!! It's desperate for a revamp! We were met on our first night by a row of parked mobility scooters that were on charge in the corridor between the bar/reception/dining room! Not really what you'd expect to see in a 4* hotel! I don't know wether it was just the time of year we visited in but it was more like a elderly retirement home/ vacation rather than the 'posh' hotel it's made out to be. (No disrespect to anyone who was on holiday here). The pillows are poor :( we requested an extra pillow as the one in the room are paper thin and we received one to our room but it did take about an hour! The food is not the best. We went down for dinner at 7.30pm on our first night (time it opens) and we're met by people rushing and I mean literally running into the dining room to be first at the food. People were eating off there plates before they had even sat down at the table! Never seen anything like it!! The food it's self was not good at all. Lots of choice but not tasty, very sloppy typical 'all inclusive type buffet food. Every night we just ate chips and then found our selfs in the supermarket buying food as nothing was really edible at the hotel! The chef wasn't the most hygienic when it came to cooking raw meats and then serving cooked pasta straight away on to people's plates wearing the same raw chicken contaminated gloves! Safe to say we didn't eat anything from that area of the dinning room. The room is a good size lots of space. Basic decor with 2 single beds put together, bed side table, dressing table with fridge and glasses, wardrobe with safe inside (have to pay for a code at reception) But the bathroom is so small! And our bathroom had 2 showers for some silly reason! 1 over the bath and another in what I can only describe as a caravan shower! And yes it was plastic so if u accidentally touched the side (which you did because it wasn't big enough to put your arms up in to wash your hair) water gets out and floods the floor! Honestly don't even bother using it! I'm only small and could hardy get into it! The walls are really thin so you hear everythingggggg and I mean everything! We were even woken up by the guest next door snoring and is alarm going off every morning! The beds are made every day and you get fresh towels each day but the cleaner kept forgetting to put a bath mat in the bathroom to step on to when you get out of the bath/shower so the floor was constantly wet or we had to use a hand towel which wasn't ideal at all! The hotel really needs an update it's very basic, very old fashioned, and really dated. The pool is on the roof but is tiny! (Open at 10am-7pm) there is a 'larger' pool and a smaller baby pool on the roof. There are sun loungers up there too but it's very cramped. You have to get a lift to the pool aswell so waiting for that can be a bit long! Also if you want a drink you have to go down to the bar on the ground floor so can take up to 20 minuets some times just to get a drink! (This may be different in summer time as there is a bar at the pool but it wasn't open during our stay which was the start of October) There's a beach bar across the road which we ate at every single lunch time and stayed there all day most days we would recommend that 100%! Overall we wouldn't come back here. Not like any of the other 4* we've stayed at ever!
just back from the pineda palace 4star hotel with a 5star attitude, could not praise the staff enough, any slight problem sorted, got some bad reviews about the card system but never had one problem, rooms cleaned every day, plenty of choice at the buffet and the view from 723 unspoilt beach brilliant.
I'll start by saying the bar staff and the poor girl who ran the daytime entertainment on her own and even ran the 'disco' a couple of nights were fantastic. The hotel is most definitely not a 4 star. It's 3 at best. The entertainment in the evening was poor and usually late, so only on for 30 minutes I understand it is late in the season but I have been elsewhere at this time of year and it's been fine. The jacuzzi room is never open and hidden behind the stage. The food isn't great. Bog standard at best. Yes we have been able to find something to eat but it is usually cold. None of the labels correspond to the food you were looking at. Also in other 4 star hotels I have stayed in they have at least 1 Al a carte restaurant to go into once on your all inclusive pass. The buffet is also a really weird layout, just a personal thing I think they could work it better even just for the staff. The bar upstairs is closed and although people are saying it's only a lift journey you have to dry off first before you go into the lift so it doesn't take 10 minutes if you have been in the pool. You get what you pay for and we didn't pay through the nose. I'd have been very unhappy if we had.
We were here in October. All was bad..the food ,the rooms, the bed..I still don t understand how it is possible to make such a construction..the walls are very thin and you can heard all the discussions ..the rooms are very noisy ! First we received a room near the lift and there we can t sleep at all and after they changed the room ..but no big change..the room was same noisy. The food is tasteless..the conditions are bad not for 4*
This hotel situated in Pineda de Mar, and was good in our opinion (although getting a little tired now) We were allocated a suite on the front of the hotel on the first floor, which is a huge room,We got the sun all day! The beds were firm and the bathroom boasted both a shower cubicle and a separate bath. Extra bonus was the amount of clothes hangers available The cleaning staff were always cheerful and conscientious. The bar team were a joy ! (once they had got to know you that is ) All of the Food on a daily basis was good again in our opinion. We didn`t have a bad meal during our 2 weeks stay. a version of a full english breakfast was available and was very enjoyable Food in the hotel,is in the majority a buffet style ( food held under warming areas ) Breakfast was cooked fresh as you stood by the grill chef, who did extremely well. Sat night they had themed evenings which were extra special, they cooked and hand carved large joints of beef served with a choice of sauces. or on the grill prawns, mussels, fish all sorts of other fish. I particularly enjoyed the salads and tended to gravitate to them for my first course at both lunch and evening meals, the choices at each meal were fabulous, It`s your fault if you go hungry in this hotel. Staff were brilliant. You take a chance this time of the year with the weather, we were lucky at the end of September to be honest and could not complain at all ! Also there was evening entertainment of some sort each night and a schedule each day for activities if you wanted to partake of them Not forgetting the rooftop pool...........we spent hours up there even without the benefit of the "poolside" bar being open. It probably took me approx 10 minutes max to get our plastic glasses refilled going down 8 floors ( in the lift ) to the bar, and depending on the amount of stops the lift had to make en-route its a holiday your on there's no rush the ice in the glasses didn't even melt ............ Finally the "white & Black cards to get drinks" I`ve read different reviews on here about these cards, and we were able to remember to take our glasses back after each drinking session to get back our white cards, its a sensible solution to not have someone collecting tables full of glasses and just putting a little bit on onus onto us the clients.
We have just returned from our forth trip to the hotel, the rooms are dated but spotless. The food was ok not exceptional but if you go hungry you must be a really fussy eater as there is always something you can find to eat I find the salad bar exceptional. The staff are really friendly if you bother to speak to them. There seems so many to thank I find it impossible to name them all but thank you to Jose, Alex bar staff. Atack and Raquel on Reception. And all the restaurant staff, thanks for another excellent time. You get what you pay for so nobody should complain although we heard lots of moans from fellow holiday makers. Some people never stop moaning we will be back again next year.
Gone 2 years running and never had a problem food vaties on diferent nights to cater for everyone every night theres chips amd thwn where the cook, cooks your food infront if you, you can have fish aswell. The pools lovely being on the top is quite cold when you first get in but after that its lovely. The entertaintment was great and the people wgo done it were jolly and happy.
This is not a 4* hotel by British standards. My room balcony only got sun for about an hour a day because it was hidden behind the front part and the back part of the hotel and looked onto a brick wall! That said, if my room had had a sea view, it would have been of a main road and a railway track too! There was also no soundproofing to protect you against the women's heels clicking on the tiled floor above or the noisy guests talking at the tops of their voices at all times of day and night. There were no night staff to stop people talking on the balconies until the early hours - voices which echoed because of the strange was the hotel had been built. The restaurant was like a canteen with no-one to seat you, so you had to wander around until you found a table that had been cleared. However, the food and wine were actually quite good - as long as you chose the right time to dine and the food was hot and not lukewarm. The rooftop area was lovely but the bar had been closed the week before so we had to come down 9 floors to get a drink :-( The staff were clearly at the end of a long, hot summer season and were exhausted but I still found them to be friendly and helpful. The holiday was a bargain - £450 for 4 nights all inclusive with baggage and transfer - so I'm not complaining. I just encourage people to manage their expectations when they read 4*.
I had never been to mainland Europe before and didn't know what to expect. I booked last minute (Thursday, 14 September 2017 and flew out on Sunday, 16 September 2017). The only brief that I gave my tour operator was that it had to be somewhere that was likely to be dry and relatively cheap. She suggested Pineda De Mar. I cannot praise it enough. Let's be straight the room was basic however, importantly, it was clean and comfortable. My view wasn't brilliant because I was at the back, but that really didn't matter. Every member of staff was friendly and polite and forgave my poor grasp of Spanish. They were knowledgeable, patient and always willing to help. The food was plentiful and tasted really good. I had the best burgers I have ever had there. The hotel is literally just across the road from the beach. The train station is a two minute walk away (there are regular trains to Barcelona). There is a daily boat trip to Tossa De Mar opposite from the beach as well. My experience was brilliant. I could not find anything to fault (I'm sure there are others that will though). It was such a positive experience that the day after I returned I booked to go again next year.
Thia hotel in Pineda, was good, beds were firm, that we would prefer.. the Food was good.the rooms very clean although tired, as is the rest of the costa brava. Food in most hotels all inclusive buffet style is luke warm, breakfast was cooked fresh as you stood by the grill chef, who did extremely well. Sat night they pulled out all the stops, they cooked and hard carved hugh joints of beef served with pepper sauce. or on the grill prawns mussells fish all sorts of fish. garlic mushrooms saute potato.. if you go hungry in this hotel, it has to be your fault. Staff were brilliant. You take a chance this time of the year on the Costa Brava end of season
