I really thought I would love this hotel. As a single traveller I am very picky about where I stay and when I found this hotel I was really excited based on reviews and photos. But on leaving the hotel, I am so disappointed. PROS An excellent refurb, all public areas are spotless, bright and well decorated. My room (a double for single use) was excellent, comfy king size bed, loads of storage, free safe and fridge (small fridge which actually got stuff cold, so many that size don't), massive TV (can't comment on channels, I didn't turn it on) and really good shower. Good hairdryer, I took my own but found I didn't need it. Could have done with more light as it wasn't the best for reading, but this was the only flaw. I found bar prices really reasonable - €2.15 for a glass of decent wine was amazing. I tri d the Spa for a ocular of hours during a rainy afternoon and it was ok. Lots if places to sit and activities. Really close to the train for direct trains to Barcelona. I took this option once and the service is good. CONS Most of my negatives are service related. I found bar service, either at lunchtime or evening really slow. I didn't find the staff very friendly (except one chap, think his name was Raul). Restaurant - I was disappointed in the food overall. Many items were run out when I went for them and weren't replaced overly quickly. The proteins cooked in the restaurant itself in particular were mostly empty. There was one guy cooking up to 6 items on 2 hot plates which was almost impossible to keep on top of. Many items were also repeated every night so there did not feel like much variety. Staff again, not the friendliest. I was greeted almost every meal time y the same 2 people and they never remembered I was dining alone. I have never come across this before. Th biggest negative for me by far was the noise. I arrived at 10.30pm on Saturday and after I found my room on the first floor, I went in search of a drink before unpacking. As I was unpacking, all I could here was chairs and tables scraping on the tiles in the Arab. below. For over an hour they were being dragged along the floor, being reset after the live entertainment. It was so loud, I realise it doesn't sound like much but it was awful. I hoped it was just for one night and it wouldn't continue but it wasn't. Every morning I was woken at 7am to the loud scraping of metal, every night I was kept awake until after midnight and when I was in my room during the day it was also all I could hear. It really spoiled my whole holiday. Have stayed in many hotels all around the world and never had such a disruptive noise constantly. Sadly, I shan't be returning here despite the reasonable cost for a single traveller.
Just home from a week's stay. Arriving outside on the transfer coach it was obvious this hotel was something special. Even the steps up from the road to the entrance were impressive, but entering the lobby through the revolving door and our jaws dropped. It was amazing decor; spotlessly clean, ultra modern but not flashy. Huge bar-cum-entertainment room with a full wall TV backdrop! Up in the stainless steel lift to our standard "designer" room with contactless door keycard, massive double bed, huge widescreen TV, and designer bathroom with walk-in shower (big enough for two if you wish to save water!), toiletries (replaced as used up), hair dryer, even a hinged magnifying mirror for those of us who wear contact lenses. Plus a digital safe that looked big enough to take a laptop (no extra charge), aircon (no extra charge), even a fridge! Food was international in the beautiful split-level restaurant, and even a faddy eater like me could find plenty of choices. There was a excellent variety of entertainment in the extended bar every single evening. Usually, in other hotels, this international-type stuff consists of things like unicycling jugglers, second-rate magicians, and the like, but that at the Silhouette was brilliant every night, especially the Village People Tribute Act, which had the whole multinational room clapping and singing along - even the bar prices were quite reasonable for a hotel. A couple of tips, though; bring plenty of spare coathangers as, although the wardrobe is wide, there are only two drawers and two modest-sized shelves for your clothes - we didn't find that enough. Also, if you like to read in bed, one of those elasticated headlamps would be useful, as the hanging bedside lights do just that - illuminate the bedside tables; no good for reading in bed, and there is no main ceiling light in the room. Although if the hotel shortened the cables from the ceiling to these lights - problem solved, as they would then act as reading lights and illuminate the room! All-in-all, in the 35 years we've been taking European hotel holidays, I can't recall staying anywhere better.
Loved this hotel, staff were amazing and the hotel was spotless. Slightly back from the sea front but this is a bonus as the train line and road run along as it's quite busy. It's easy to visit Barcelona and Girona by train from this resort. The only fault we found was the food, at breakfast and evening meals some of the food was not replenished quickly and some of it was cold, it was very hit and miss. The selection of food was good but it's a shame no one was checking each section to ensure there was enough of the popular items.
This hotel is one of the best I've stayed at in a very long time. It has been beautifully refurbished, is spotlessly clean, the staff are friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. The reviews from other travellers are spot on. It is a fabulous hotel. Adults only is a bonus. I will definitely go back.
Excellent all round Hotel....food & room & staff exceptional .. Best hotel for us in a long long time..Would definitely like to come back 1 day. Nothing too much trouble for management...plenty walks available if you like walking...I can understand why hotel is so popular...if you havent been to this hotel i can honestly recommend it 100% You wont be disappointed.
Overall, this is a fabulous hotel. The rooms and the public areas are spotless and you can tell it's recently been refurbished. We stayed half board and never got fed up of the buffet, which offers a bit of variety every day and I loved the fresh fruit and the selection of hors d'oeuvres each night. If you like fresh fish and seafood then this is the place for you. The drinks and cocktails are very reasonably priced and we enjoyed some great entertainment in the evening as we love live music. We even took part in the 'round the pool Bingo' during the day (something we'd normally avoid) and found it a lot of fun (probably because it was free and we won, but there you go.) The hotel has a lovely cosmopolitan feel with guests from the UK, The Netherlands, Germany, France and Russia to name but a few, which we really liked and we even managed to improve our language skills! Plus, the fact there are no children means you get the peace and quiet you need. The spa is really lovely. We spent the afternoon there when it was raining and liked the sauna and steam room. The indoor pool isn't really big enough for doing some serious lengths though as it's quite small, but the well-equipped gym is there if you want some exercise. Overall, most of the staff were nice but I felt if anything let this place down it was in fact, the staff. The reception staff would do well to remember that first impressions count. When we first arrived we walked up to reception to find the two receptionists engaged in some sort of debate over receipts and we weren't even acknowledged for way over 2 minutes even though we were the only people stood at the reception. Some of the breakfast staff were also a bit grumpy. Once, when we arrived 10 mins before opening time (as we were going on a trip that day and had to get the coach early) we were told we couldn't enter. When I protested as there were already people eating I was told "NO!" and that I had to discuss it with reception. This was unnecessary gatekeeping in my view. Especially as we only had 10 mins and just wanted to grab some fruit. The bar staff were generally very polite and there was a very friendly chap in glasses. I just wish they'd all just smile a bit more as they all seemed to look so stern. In general, Malgrat isn't exactly the jewel of the Mediterranean, but its proximity to Barcelona and Girona make it worth a visit. The old part of the town is quite nice near the church and the Parc Castell. It's also good for biking as there are bike tracks along the coast and it's mostly flat, so you can cycle to Calella quite easily. The hotel can arrange to have bikes delivered for you. We paid 10 euros for 3 hours per bike.
Great hotel experience at this property. Staff are so friendly and rooms very clean. Great choice of food and drinks. Pool area well laid out with lots of loungers. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
I had the pleasure of returning to the Bella Playa/Silhouette for the first time in 7 years! It's changed a lot but the service is just as good as when I was last here The entire hotel has been renovated since I was here and unfortunately do to a flying visit (36 hours in he country) I was unable get the entire hotel experience. Everything from the rooms to dining and of excellent quality and cleanliness, I just hope the next time I am paying the place a visit, it's for a little bit longer than just 2 nights
Hotel is magnificent and the most wonderful tranquil relaxing holiday. The biggest asset the hotel has is without doubt the staff. As soon as you walked in you were greeted by the most friendliest helpful staff. Monica, Christina and Marjan and the young guys were so helpful and just so happy smiling people and nothing was too much trouble. The security guy as soon as you walked in was nice and friendly as were cleaners/restaurant and bar staff. Proper professional customer care at such highest level. The hotel itself is very modern, sparkling clean and luxurious. I was fortunate to have penthouse on 7th floor and was heaven and so very peaceful as well as luxurious. Nice modern shower and large comfortable beds with a good size terrace. Other nice touch was free safe and free good sized fridge. Plasma flatscreen on wall. Air conditioning was great in room. Restaurant was fabulous and food, whether breakfast or dinner, you were greeted and shown to a table. So many choices and always something nice to eat with a varied menu and well presented. Well equipped gym which I used most mornings followed by the most luxurious spa. This was something else - swimming pool with neon lighting and jaccuzi beds you lay on in pool, rain shower, steam room, sauna, cold plunge pool and my fav - a small pool with gentle jets that was 42 degrees. There were also 4 individual pods where you could lie and rest//sleep/watch ipad etc. I sooo loved the spa. This really was a 5 star experience and cannot recommend highly enough if you are looking for a chilled relaxing break. The hotel has no faults at all and the only downside is leaving. I should pay particular respect to Monica, who is in charge of reception and made this all possible for me and am extremely grateful. Just fantastic !
We were pleased with everything at this hotel. The rooms are all freshly refurbished. The food is excellent and there is a lot of choice. It's close to the beach and shops. Drinks by the pool are a little pricey but that's normal. Pool itself is quite adequate and no kids as this is adults only. Reserve your parking with the hotel direct bedorehand if you want to park off the road. Plenty parking nearby anyway. Very pleased and would book again.
