"Grandad why isn't this a 5 star hotel?" asked my 7 year old grandaughter. I began to explain what facilities were needed for different categories and stars. "Look" she continued, "the food is scrummy -5 stars- the staff are very kind and smiley- 5 stars- the position for the beach and train couldn't be better-5 stars," I started to speak but lost out as she continued,"Are the beds super comfy - 5 stars- are the towels and beach towels new and fluffy-5 stars- is the gym well equipped with almost new equipment ?-5 stars- Come on Grandad this hotel is worth 5 stars:" I had to agree.
We spent some good time there. The staff was kind and the food delicious. The rooms are decent and clean too. The position of the hotel is excellent as only the road divides it from a sandy beach. The train for Barcelona stops some 100m from the hotel.
Sixth, yes, sixth visit here.... and we still think this is the best Hotel we have stayed in. Service is excellent, Hotel is spotless, meals are always varied... there is something for everyone every night. Seafood, poultry, lamb, pork, fish, salads, you name it and it's there. Breakfasts are just as varied with plenty of differing breads, fruits etc in addition to the more usual fried eggs, bacon, sausages, pancakes. One suggestion I would make to the Hotel is that student 'registration' at meal times is somehow separated from 'guests' as it does lead to queue's at Anna's desk. I have seen comments on here that meal-times are sometimes noisy and it is, usually, at times when the students are eating their meals. That is always at the start of the meal time so, in order to enjoy a quieter environment, you could just go down to meals at, say, 8pm instead of 7pm. There's still a full range of food available at 8pm as the food is constantly replenished. Once again, thanks to all the staff at the Hotel and we hope to see you all next year. Alan and Susan Watson
We had a premium triple room with a sea view and it was very clean, modern and comfortable with a reasonably sized balcony overlooking the seafront. There was a fridge in the room and wifi was included, but the in-room safe was chargeable. If I was being picky, the bathroom door cut right across the entry/exit space to the bath/shower which was a bit of a design oddity. We had half board and the quality of both breakfast and dinner was very good, although my husband did make a similar comment to a previous reviewer who wasn't impressed with the state of the fried eggs at breakfast. Other than that the only downside to the meals is that although the dining room was very large it was always very busy when we went and it took a while at times to find a table that wasn't already occupied. Serving so many people, the meal experience was pretty hectic rather than relaxing, but that wasn't surprising given the size of the hotel. At times the waiting staff did seem to be overwhelmed with the clearing up, but they did a good job given the circumstances.
This is a very nice hotel, that attracts nice people, thereby cementing its reputation as a nice hotel. There are no swimming shorts in the dining room, no football flags or any others from the balconies, no rowdiness or unsocial activity. Some lads were turned away from the bar and refused service as one of them had no top on. in short you can relax. The hotel itself sits on the promenade in the centre of the town. It overlooks the beach and all front rooms have a sea view. It is almost opposite the railway station so trips to Barcelona or Gerona are simple, ( 9.90 Euros return) and it is on the corner of the main shopping street that leads to bars around a typical spanish square. There are many spanish bars within a few hundred yards, two popular beach bars, restaurants and the only british bar in town is about 5 minutes walk away if thats what you want. No discos or nightclubs in the resort so if you are a late night reveler, perhaps its not for We had a sea facing room, they come at a small supplement, but they are large, typically better class spanish with comfortable interiors , tiled floors, armchair, flat screen tv and fridge. They also provide beach towels. The bathroom has a walk in shower ant toiletries are provided. A safe is available (32 Euros 2 weeks) The rest of the hotel has a contemporary feel to it, the restaurant is light and airy with tables overlooking the promenade and an outside dining area overlooking the pool. The food selection in the evening was very good, and I found it tasty and of good quality compared to most. Buffet style. Breakfast were also good for choice but sometimes the presentation of the fried eggs left a bit to be desired, but, apart from that one thing, again is was of good quality, with plenty of choice. The bar area was again fresh, with seats around tables, and lounge chairs and sofas, and an outside area with seating and sofas. Bar prices were quite low for a 4 star hotel, and quality was good. This area was also where the evening entertainment took place, mostly singers/groups but with occasional flamenco and other acts. All professional, no animation team, I am not really into hotel entertainment but, I have seen much worse. There is waiter service for both inside and out. There is also a gym/spa area but I cannot comment. The swimming pool is on the small side, and when we were there (late september) the sun didn't reach the pool until about 2 in the afternoon. Beds are provided. The beach is only 50 yards away, with sun loungers available. The whole hotel is very clean, welcoming and the staff helpful. It is an ideal hotel, in an ideal location, for a relaxing break in a quite lovely resort, most unlike most of the other Costa Brava resort. We have looked around all the other hotels in the resort and we view this as the best for us, and should we return to Pineda would stay here again.
Spent a week at this hotel recently! Very very clean and modern. Staff were exceptional. Especially reception. We were on Bed & Breakfast but had Dinner on a few evenings at a reduced cost to residents! Food was very good but restaurant very busy and noisy! Not a relaxing place to eat! Pineda itself is a nice resort but maybe because it was near end of season found a lot of bars restaurants shops etc closing. Unfortunately we did not get a visit to Barcelona or Girona as a bit of unrest with the referendum taking place.
Stayed here for a week b&b with jet2. Hotel was very clean, staff very friendly & helpfull. Location great for the beach & train station. We had a sea view premier room. Personally i wouldnt say this is a 4* as bed hard, pool not useable as no sun till late afternoon, very small fridge, no drawers in the room, tv crap as only 1 uk station, shower/bath hard to get in & out of as stuck in a corner but other than that hotel good. Breakfast was a good selection, hotel bar reasonable prices, reception had info re the trains & we used their trip to portaventura which was good. Train only 10 euros return to barcelona & every 30 mins. Could walk to Calella & Santa Susanna & get the train.
We visited this hotel in 2015 in October it was a lovely hotel nice rooms food and location directly opposite a beach and train station to go to Barcelona. My daughter did find hotel boring as there was no children entertainment also she could t use the pool during the day as gets no sun so was freezing. I would definitely recommend this hotel to couples but not families as too quiet and not enough to do.
We stayed in their Apartments a block back behind hotel, ours was on the fourth floor and was roomy and pleasant...not much of a view and we would have liked a balcony (403) but all in all very good. Large bathroom (good shower heads cost very little these days...maybe they could invest?) We were allowed use of hotel facilities and spent many afternoons at the pool. I would have swum but pool rather too deep for me (and others I have read!) Hotel looked lovely too but VERY strong smell of cleaning fluid when you walked in and it made my friend feel so sick that she just had to run straight out to pool. Its a shame cause staff were lovely and maybe would return to the hotel but even as I'm writing this I can smell the smell and I know she could not cope with it...shame.
It is one of the best hotels, I have stayed at.the staff are brilliant the food is good.Would highly recommend this hotel. It is right on the beach front there is a train station a short walk away , which we used to go to Barcelona which cost €9.80 return. There is a train line that is just across the road but you don't hear it .
