Just returned from ten night stay. New director who is very friendly and professional.standards still very high.As usual all staff welcoming &professional.See you all next year. (Special thanks to team in the pergola).

Stayed at this hotel for a week from 23 August, 2017 with my wife, daughter and our grandson aged 9. We stayed in rooms 205 and 531 for what was our first visit to the hotel and to the Costa Brava. Our daughter chose the hotel as a last minute holiday and she could not have chosen a better hotel or location for us to stay. The hotel is well suited to families and people of all ages and offers a good standard of well maintained rooms and excellent choice of food in the buffet restaurant. We stayed half board and found both the hot and cold dishes to be very much to our liking. The food was always well prepared and there is also a wide selection of good quality bakery items available. The main lounge and bar area is cool and relaxing and runs through from the front hotel entrance to the rear exit and outdoor pool area. Adjacent to the main lounge is a separate entertainment lounge that provides a variety of evening shows which included a performance of "Grease" during our stay. The pool area is well laid out although you may need to secure your lounger with a towel early in the morning during peak periods. This is a common problem in some hotels and some thought should be given to a fairer system. The animation team are very good and work hard all day - and evening - to keep everyone entertained. The pool area is also serviced by a nice bar/restaurant, La Pergola, which is good for lunch time meals or snacks. Also the mini market at the rear of the hotel serves good value for money snacks. The local train station is just a 100 yards from the hotel and provides a low cost opportunity to visit so many lovely places along the Costa Brava. Barcelona takes just over an hour and the trains run every half hour. We took the train to meet up with a cousin who has a boat near Roses. The staff throughout the hotel were always very polite and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return to this hotel again in the future. Alan, Ormskirk

Just back from another absolutely fantastic week here. Quick check in to a room on the fifth floor with a view out to the hills and down the promenade. Room was cleaned every day, clean towels every day and sheets changed. We were half board, great choice at breakfast and evening meal. Had a coffee in reception several times, waiting staff were very attentive. The reception staff were very polite and extremely helpful with information regarding places to visit. The hotel is practically opposite the station which is very handy for getting out and about. Love walking down the stalls on the promenade each evening and then returning to the hotel for the evening entertainment programme. Would definately recommend this hotel and we will be back for sure. Thank you.

I have just returned with my fifteen year old daughter from a week at this fantastic hotel. We travelled on a package deal with Jet 2 who were faultless. We were on a halfboard package breakfast, evening meal. Check in very smooth and friendly. Room basic but very clean. We had a double bed each that were very comfortable, needed extra pillows and that was not an issue. Pillows very comfortable too. Nice having small fridge for keeping drinks cool. View from balcony, back view onto houses, very quiet. Major gripe about people reserving sunbeds from 8am often not arriving to them until 2pm!! Just not fair as other people could have used them during that time. Seemed to be the same people taking the same sunbeds everyday. Ratio of parasols to sunbeds still too low, too hot at 32 degrees to sit exposed without shelter. This problem of reserving sunbeds needs to be addressed. Food lovely, plentiful, great choice catering for all dietary needs. Staff work very hard, very courteous at all times and a credit to the hotel. Loved the daily aqua arobics and great activities for younger children. Pool very clean, every area spotless, nice reading room, plenty of public areas to relax. We both enjoyed the oriental massage in the spa at 46 euro. Very relaxing treatment only gripe it was supposed to be 45 minutes but was more like 30 according to my watch. Were there from Monday to Monday, a card on the bed on the Saturday afternoon saying to put it out next day if we wished the bedlinen to be changed. This should have been done earlier in the week not only having one night in the clean sheets!! Would know again to ask, towels changed daily. Resort very quiet nothing much to do which suited me as i needed a week of rest and relaxation which i got. Took the train for day trip to Barcalona, nice day out but very tiring. Was glad to get back to the peace and quiet of this lovely hotel. Thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and i am looking forward to a return visit.

Just come back from a 10 night stay at Hotel Onabrava in a premium room, on 5th floor, I can't fault anything, room was lovely with pool and sea view, cleaned each day by the maids, air conditioned with tv, also fridge, lovely view from the balcony, all the staff were pleasant and friendly, food was lovely, I stayed half board, and cant fault the variety and presentation of the food they should be commended for it, mealtimes were well handled by the staff and the waiters and waitresses on hand to show you to your place and on hand if you needed drinks etc. Pool was large and clean although I didn't use it sunbeds were plenty but the key ones taken quite early as is everywhere. Pool entertainment each day by the hardworking 'animacion' team especially for the kids and also acts on each night both inside and out. Nice seating area on the ground floor, bar staff on hand all the time and work hard ensuring your drinks are brought and more if needed. Reception staff approachable nd friendly I asked what was the way best way to get to Girona after thinking it would be train and bus, the receptionist printed off a train timetable instantly and explained it to me which was helpful and I spent a lovely day there. The hotel has a small supermarket and snack bar attached to it which is good. My only gripe being that my room was next to the lift and I could hear the lift movements especially at night which was a bit annoying at times but apart from that I enjoyed my time at Onabrava and would certainly go back to experience it again, congratulations to everybody involved with hotel for making it a nice place for me to stay to stay.

Loved the ambience of the hotel as soon as we entered and knew straight away on entering that the long train journey from the airport was worth it. The service offered by all the staff was excellent. There was always someone around if you wanted a drink etc and the staff couldn't do enough. The hotel and rooms were clean and well kept. We stayed in a superior room but wouldn't rate the small jacuzzi which looked old and tired. Felt a premium room would have been just as good. Food in the restaurant catered for everyone and was delicious... probably the best we have seen. Both breakfast and dinner were amazing but would recommend dining within the hour of when the meal times start. The pool was great and would say the only downside being there needed to be more sun umbrellas and it was disappointing that guests could reserve sun beds at an ungodly hour. Easy access to shops, train station and the beach made it a perfect location. Would avoid the Pergola restaurant. Ate there several times but food was not worth the money at all , very disappointing. Enjoyed some time in the spa but it's not as well looked after as the rest of the hotel. However that said, we have Just returned from a weeks stay here with my husband and two daughters. We had a lovely break and would thoroughly recommend the hotel.

We have stayed twice before at this hotel and found it to be a fantastic hotel. However we have just returned from a 4 night stay here as a family with 2 children and although the children still loved it, the level of service has deteriorated quite a lot. The hotel itself is lovely, clean and the family rooms are spacious. However in the 4 nights we dined in the restaurant, not once did I have a hot, even warm meal. Every evening we had to try and get someone attention to even offer us a drink at the table, which took some time as the staff were very sparse. A bottle of wine we had put away on one night apparently got lost and they returned what 'they thought' was ours, so we enjoyed a half open bottle of wine which may have been someone elses!! When I enquired about a late check out room I was spoken to very rudely by a gentleman on reception who told me what do I expect at this late time (even though I had been told the evening before to come back at the same time). It did get sorted after he told me I would have to speak to her over there and walked away. Unfortunately the hotel is being held up by the fantastic animation team who year after year entertain us around the pool and in the evening. Would I go back to just see them? Probably not.

This hotel is beautiful the pool area is large the staff a really friendly the entertainment team are fabulous the food is fantastic the hotel is spotlessly clean and the rooms are really nice you must stay hear it is well worth every penny it has a lovely spa although we didn't use it

Service- very good service, although the reception has limited staff for such a large hotel, queues can form here. Food- we had half board and it was absolutely great. The food varied everyday and there were various cuisines being served in the buffet. I normally encounter difficulty finding food as a vegetarian but even I had plenty to choose from everyday. Room- the room was clean and of a relatively good size (we had two double beds). It wasn't particularly good looking but it did the job. The bathroom shower glass extends minimally which can be a little annoying but other than that the room was great. Unexpected charges- when booking we didn't know that the gym would be a fee of €30 per person, especially since I've never had to pay to use the gym at any hotel abroad. No iron was offered (they had "run out") which was incredibly annoying because it forced us to use the laundry service though we would've been much happier using an iron ourselves. Parking- really good, cheap parking accessible by a card issued at the reception. We parked in the outdoor car park for €5 per day, and we weren't charged for the day we left.

We stayed for a week in this hotel 2 years in a row. Excellent hotel, clean and spacious airy light lounge area. Rooms also very clean. Food was delicious and so much variety on offer. All the staff were extremely friendly and courteous. The animation team create a wonderful poolside atmosphere. Would return again in a heartbeat. The only thing we'd say is that perhaps the exterior walls of the hotel are due a paint but other than that would thoroughly recommend the onabrava hotel.
