Setting the stage by saying our family's (myself, wife, and daughter) trip to Cosenza was to visit family...we had problems that affected our ability to meet with family. It started with check-in. I booked our room on 1/31/2012 for a 6/8/2012 arrival...ample time in my opinion. When checking in, we were told we would be in our room for one night, then be moved for remainder of our one-week stay. Didn't we book far enough ahead to not have to be moved? No good answer from the staff. We received our swipe-card key and proceeded to our room. I had to return to the front desk THREE times as our key didn't work. We finally received a working key. The next morning, we were awakened from our jet-lagged sleep at 10:30 AM and told our new room was ready. We quickly gathered our things, went to the front desk to get our new swipe-card key, walked into the new room, and found the room not yet cleaned! Kinda disgusting but I knew to expect the unexpected in Italy. We advised the front desk who apologized, asked us to return to the original room while the new room was cleaned, and they would send complimentary breakfast while we waited. (Good effort to recover.) They sent breakfast...for two! We had three in our party. We finally got to our cleaned room only to learn that our telephone was not working. This was critical as we would be calling family members to come pick us up at the hotel throughout the week. We worked with the front desk and they even sent someone to get the telephone working. The short story is we never had a working telephone in our room for our entire week in Cosenza! Now, upfront the front desk was willing to facilitate the telephone calls to family for us on a daily basis. (Again, a nice recovery...sort of.) As new front desk staff came on each day, our request to have the front desk facilitate our telephone calls to family was met with resistance until we explained what had happened. This was exhausting! To the hotel's credit, the rooms are kept clean daily, the rooms are well-appointed, the price was right, and the hotel is centrally-located in Cosenza. Oh yes, I forgot about the loud music playing on Thursday night in the hotel's restaurant that could be heard throughout the entire hotel well into the early morning hours. Consider yourself warned about what should now be the expected. I am recommending primarily because there aren't really a lot of other choices.
