Hotel Le Goeland, exceeded our expectations! My husband and I are not the type to lounge while on vacation, we are always on the go and have busy itineraries of places to go and things to do. However, this hotel is so serene and idyllic that upon arrival we decided to take a quick breather and sit in the chairs of their pristine green lawn, and we were hooked!!! We spent 5 hours just lounging, talking, having cocktails and napping out on the lawn. We loved it so much we made it a part of our daily afternoon routine to sit in the chairs and relax - and reminded ourselves we don't always have to be on the go. The fresh breezes and the great cocktails also made this location so dreamy and ideal. The staff was warm and helpful and recommended great activities to do around town. We loved it so much it's on our list of places we have to return to. We also stayed at a 5 star hotel on the island and we both agreed, we liked this place best, due to the people, the location, casualness of the environment... and it wasn't fussy - which we both loved.
In a lovely location with a small beach and a lawn running down to the sea this is a really delightful hotel. Breakfast on the terrace was a delight but dinner was rather variable. On some nights the cooking and service were excellent but on others it was frankly poor.
We stayed here for three nights after walking the GR20 for fourteen days. It was a wonderful choice for us for many reasons. First, we did not have a car, so moving around meant either by very expensive and rare taxi or by public transportation. We choose the latter, which is why we decided to stay central and not on one of the beaches in the south. The hotel is very pleasant and airy and beautifully located on the beach side of the marina. It is a 20-minute (uphill) walk to the old town of Porto Vecchio with it's fantastic bars and restaurants, and a 20-30 minute bus ride to the turn off to Plage Guilia. The room was amazing, beautifully decorated with a very comfortable bed, and had great amenities and high-quality towels and linens. Our terrace was huge with wonderful views of the bay. Breakfast was an incredible buffet, and you wished for nothing else (and if you did you could order it). It definitely catered to those who enjoy more than a croissant with a bowl of coffee in the morning. Everything was fresh, great local cheese and pastries, fruit, cereals and hot dishes. We had dinner here one night and it was superb although it's a bit on the expensive side if you choose to eat a la carte instead of choosing the menu. If you are looking for a beach hotel, this is not it. The hotel has a wonderful garden and a little beach to chill on but it is not comparable to the amazing beaches further south, and the water is of course marina water. We did not stay here for the beach, so we were not disappointed, but it is best to do your homework if beach bumming and swimming is what you are after. The staff was very nice if somewhat "dry". Often we were unsure if they liked us or thought we were a bit of a nuisance (especially when we arrived with our backpacks and hiking boots). But I would chalk it up to Corsican character and give them the benefit of the doubt. All in all a very relaxing way to come down after 14 days of hiking and camping (and hiking and camping food). I would definitely do it again!
The stay here was incredible on our honeymoon! 100% recommend it!!! They gave us an incredible room with a view of the private harbour and beach and the breakfast was amazing! They also gave us a glass of bubbles as we just got married! All the staff were so friendly and and lovey and helpful! We can't wait to come back and thank you again for making our honeymoon so special!! Emily and Chris humphrey xxx
My wife and I stayed at this hotel and we were made very welcome. It is situated on the Marina and the location is brilliant. When we first arrived the reception staff were very helpful and this continued through the stay, which merits a special mention for Bushra, Nadine and Frederica. The staff in the restaurant areas were also very friendly and helpful and again a special mention for Cindy, May and Steven. The only slight drawback was that our room was quite small and pokey and very warm in the night as the Air conditioning was not very efficient.
This was our second stay in this beautiful located hotel in the golf of Porto-Vecchio. Staf is very friendly, room (with terrace), bed and bathroom are first quality and (the very expensive, namely € 22) breakfast is magnificent. So, why not 5 stars? Because there were a little issues, viewing the very high prices in this hotel: - the door of the terrace could not be closed, so leaving the room by the terrace was impossible - airco was OK but not super; we prefer it a little bit colder - there was a lot of noise in the room at evenings because it was located beside the restaurant and probably we had the bad luck having some parties during our stay - and last but not least: at some moments the WiFi was a real disaster; I think there's a capacity issue concerning WiFi
This is a lovely hotel and restaurant with a view of the water for your breakfast and dinner. The hotel has a quaint atmosphere with little side patios to read. The shining star for the hotel is the lovely self-service breakfast with a huge variety of choices. When you take your meal out to the patio there is a lovely view of the water and rocks plus the surrounding scenic area. Dinner was also a pleasant experience with a good choices on the menu.
Hotel le Goeland is a nice spot on the harbor/bay of Porto Vecchio. Generally nice property with pretty garden / pool area on the harbor. However, there were a few drawbacks. First, the location is a bit removed from everything else. One can walk along a very busy road to the harbor business area where there are a few restaurants, but the old town is too far to walk, and parking was not easy. This was a bit unexpected, and made dining rather challenging. Second, the standard room was extremely small and confining. Didn't really feel luxurious at all.
We stayed here only for a one night on our road trip. Reading the reviews I had a bit of mixed feelings what to expect and my mixed thoughts were confirmed. We had an issue with the shower which was dealt quickly, but with what i would call 'french service attitude', not very welcoming. Same feeling when checking in. Room a bit cold in character and furnishing, but great views. Breakfast was good on a nice surroundings, but the number of bees trying to eat your breakfast was really annoying. I think the hotel has some great potential with its amazing location, no the price tag is not on par with the rather poor level of service and the hotel lacks character to justify its pricing. Hopefully the management will look into this, and I genuinely hope the potential of this property will receive a strategy it deserves.
Great location great rooms and a great service. will go back of sure. Ve spent some time in Le gland during a motorbike tour of corsica in September 2016. My wife an I had a very good time in this hotel great accommodations make you feel to live in old time but with a touch o modernity. all the comfort in and an impeccable service. really enjoyed.
