Charming cottage 2 blocks from the beach

This vacation home has been beautifully renovated with the idea that a rental can feel unique and personal rather than generic and impersonal. Located in the beach community of Whalehead in Corolla, this upscale home features two en suite master bedrooms and two bedrooms having two twin beds each and a shared bathroom -- perfect for one or two families, a girls’ weekend, or a couple wanting a cozy home that's neither too big nor too small.

For the hot summer months, the private pool is refreshing, and the covered pergola poolside will allow for hours spent reading, napping or socializing without getting sunburned. And the fun can continue into the evening with the grill fired up and the lights on! There is a double swing on the mid-level deck, also a nice spot to enjoy by yourself or with a companion.

The house comes with beach umbrellas and chairs, as well as a decent collection of boogie boards and sandcastle building "equipment" for the kids. There’s also a cart to carry all this, making the short walk to the beach even easier. It’s only a three minute walk down a nice paved boardwalk to the beach. For those familiar with Whalehead, this is the Barracuda Walkway.

The house also offers some privacy, as it is surrounded by stands of pines, making it feel like it’s tucked in its own little cocoon.

As the owner/reservation agent/concierge whose been vacationing here for over twenty-five years, I'm happy to help my guests with their vacation planning. I care that all guests thoroughly enjoy their time spent in my home and this wonderful beach area.

Please note that my home is only available for rent on VRBO/HomeAway. It is not available on a third-party site or Craigslist. When making inquiries or bookings, you would only speak with me (the owner); I am always happy to talk and answer any questions you may have.

Amazing Vacation!

The house was amazing! We loved it and it was great for our children and extended family. Right on the board walk for an easy walk to the beach. Our kids loved the pool. Julie was great to deal with. Would definitely recommend.

The location was superb!!

The location was amazing, such an easy walk to the beach (even for my 2 year old) but felt as if we were in our private cove surrounded by trees. Such close proximity to the awesome park down the road, the lighthouse, and the 4x4 beach to see wild horses. The house was child friendly, kitchen fully stocked and the host was easy to get in touch with and very responsive. My family cannot wait to come back

Perfect for two families

We have stayed at Julie’s house the past 4 years and we keep coming back to it every summer because it’s just perfect. We have two boys and two girls between our families and the bedrooms they share are perfect. It’s a short walk to the beach or less than 10 min to drive on the beach in Carova. The pool is private and is a great set up to enjoy. The kitchen is stocked with anything you may need which we appreciate since we cook mostly every meal. Julie is incredibly responsive and just a delight to work with. We will be back again next summer!

Great place to stay

Location was great. Right next to the boardwalk to get to the beach. We used the beach chairs, umbrellas and beach cart. Was nice to not have to rent. Pool was wonderful. Kitchen was well stocked. Lots of spices to choose from. Loved the porch swing. I think it was everyone's favorite spot. Would definitely rent again.

Discovered Gem!

The pictures of the house don’t do it justice! The house is beautiful, clean, has just about anything you need, and has a great layout! It’s secluded, but a few steps away from the access path to the beach. There’s plenty to do in the area, and the host (Julie) is great with providing information prior to check-in about places to eat and places to go. We’ll definitely be back! ❤️

Great Location

The easy 2 block walk way to the beach right off the driveway is a giant plus for this property. The pool was clean and enjoyed by all. Wifi weak on 3rd floor (owner working on that). Been in rentals with better kitchen supplies--no starter paper towels, no dish towels, rags or sponge, no dish detergent--dishwasher pods were plentiful. House decor very tasteful. Owner responsive to questions while at property.

Perfect location

Julie has a lovely property. It is clean and comfortable. The pool was perfect. The beach is a very short and easy walk. We rented bikes, learned to surf, and saw the wild horses. This property was close to everything but still peaceful. Don't hesitate to stay here.

Spacious, Clean, Convenient

This property was perfect for our family getaway to Corolla. We traveled with a family of 4 and grandparents. There was ample space and accommodations for everyone. Everything was provided. Having the washer and dryer was very convenient. The beach was just a short walk and the property included everything needed for the beach (wagon, carts, beach toys, chairs, umbrellas.) The property also has a nice sized pool which was good because the beach had red flags and we couldn’t swim in the ocean. The kids rooms are nice and have thoughtful touches that the kids were excited about (LEGOS in the boy’s room and plush sea creatures in the girl’s room). We also enjoyed reading the books available in their rooms. The property is mostly private for where it is located. It is also a short drive to some good restaurants, shopping, grocery store, arcade, etc. Lastly, the property owner was very responsive and helpful. We enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

Beautiful Home in Great Corolla Location

Perfect home for a group of 4-6 people. Walk to the beach was about 10 minutes and a well constructed walkway right by the house made it easy to get to. House was furnished beautifully, beds were comfortable, and the kitchen had everything we needed, including an amazing selection of spices. Vacation in a Tree House

Julies property was a wonderful stay. Nestled in the trees, the 3rd floor seemed more like a stay in a tree house than at the beach. Do not be fooled though, a quick walk on the direct path to the ocean gives you the best of both worlds! Private swimming pool, comfortable beds, fully furnished kitchen made our vacation one of the bests we ever had!

Clean, convenient, great Beach House for small groups with children

Convenient location to all area attractions. Very clean,open floor plan, great kitchen, several decks and porch swing were a plus. Clean pool, short walking distance to the beach. I was traveling with grandparents and my children. Everyone had a great time. Julie was very quick to respond to any questions I had. Only thing I would recommend is a gas grill and a railing for the pool stairs. Other than that perfect vacation house will be returning.

So Convenient!

The house was clean, the kitchen was probably the best stocked kitchen we have ever seen in a beach house, and it was incredibly close to the beach. What more can you ask for? The kids loved the pool and moms loved everything else!

Great Family Getaway

This property was amazing! It had everything we needed and more. We could not have asked for a better place. Make sure you rent bikes and ride all around. The lighthouse and places to eat is a mile away. Also, wild horses are a must see. The pool is great to jump in and get refreshed. We will stay again!

We really enjoyed the short walk to the beach. Lots of things to do nearby. Julie was absolutely wonderful with response time to questions/concerns. The pool area was nice. We didn’t get to enjoy nearly as much as we wanted to due to the weather but the kids had no trouble jumping in. We did run into a few small problems(Julie fixed them rather quickly). I loved that laundry soap, dish soap, pots, pans, etc were provided. It saved us extra packing. Overall, we had a great stay!! Thanks Julie!

Nice layout for a small / mid size family and great location!

Julie is such a friendly host! She is super accommodating to guests flying in. I thought the house was a great value with a spacious living room (2 teens / 3 adults) that bleeds into the kitchen, so nice and open! The screened-in porch and deck areas on each floor were nice as well! The swinging chair was an added bonus. The walk to the beach is pretty quick too! You are minutes from lots of amenities... horse tours, shopping, groceries, etc. The pool is super clean, but it was too chilly for us lightweights, as we came mid October. The master bedroom / bathroom appears newly renovated, with nice morning sunrise views. We bought groceries for a seafood boil (plenty of seafood locations to pick from) and the charcoal grill was great for grilling. The spice drawer is fantastic!
