My daughter and I decided to go to Falmouth and found st Michael's on Booking.com. Very pleasant stay lovely staff will definitely go back soon next time hopefully a longer stay , spa and pool was excellent after a long drive from southampton so worth while
excellent stay, service was lovely and the food was very good and the whole experience extremely pleasant. although the hotel is being extended and a lot of building going on we still had a great time the staff were excellent
The staff in this hotel are all amazing, it must be the location, how could you not be happy working here. The location is stunning, its close to Falmouth Town, about 10 minutes walk, it's across the road from a very nice beach, there's a coastal walk on both sides of the beach. The rooms are really nice, the walls are probably a bit thin, I could hear everything the people in the rooms on either side and above were doing. The rooms also lack air conditioning, it was very hot in the room, opening the window didn't make a lot of difference, hopefully the owners will install air conditioning in the new addition that's currently under construction. The bathrooms are modern and bright, mine had a two person shower. I had diner in the resturant, the food was excellent, the service is excellent, the staff again were excellent. I din't try the spa, pool or gym but I did have a look at them all, the gym looked very impressive, not what I was expecting at all, made me wish I had brought my training clothes. The pool was decent, my kids would have loved it. If I'm back in this neck of the woods I will stay here again, I really enjoyed the hotel.
Stayed a Sunday evening for a romantic getaway. The hotel is pleasant enough with nice bar area and restaurant, with a seaview..Food was very nice and we both really enjoyed all the 3 courses we had. My only gripe would be the portion sizes for 2 of the dishes I had...The Gurnard Madras was full of lovely flavours, but it was tiny...I then had the Baileys cheesecake, which was a special and this was the smallest cheesecake I have ever had and I have had 100's of cheesecakes in the past. This one was half the size of any cheesecake I have had previously. We used the spa area (Pool, steamroom and Spa pool) and these were ok...Nothing special, but the steamroom door handle was rope as the previous handle had broken and the door wouldn't shut properly and the spa pool walls were a bit dirty and needing of some TLC. Small things really, which let it down. The room was nice, with seaview, but also a nice view of the CAT digger and the building site as well, for the renovations the hotel is still going through. Wasn't impressed to be woken up at 7am by one of the workmen shouting to one of his colleagues..All the staff we encountered was extremely friendly providing a very professional service so cannot fault them there. The breakfast was very tasty, but the service was a little on the slow side. Overall a very nice hotel, with some small flaws, that let it down, but we would 100% return in the future. Maybe when the renovations are completed
A tired modern hotel. Best thing going was the breakfast, the staff were helpful and the location to the beach. Very tired but undergoing major refurb. Bedroom large. Bathroom also. But door didn't close under its own steam, phone didn't work, smell of the pool a put off and we can only forgive the chaos outside because of the works going on. Not much character. Maybe better when finished.
We weren't told until checking in about the renovation work being carried out. The noise is right beside us, started at 8am. It's very disappointing. No bar fridge in the room. The room is dated. No lift. The best thing about this place is the staff, very friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was great.
Good points - lovely helpful staff, clean well fitted bedrooms, good position for walks to Falmouth, well kept gardens, very good breakfasts. Not so good - could not use balcony , noisy and dusty from building site's close proximity. Attach pics of view from our balcony. We had phoned in advance re building work and were told most of outside work finished and it would be inside work - not much noise for your rooms - not told of a lift being built under our balcony with a digger there all day and 30 ' drop.Builders not there at weekend. No discount offered. Had 1 evening meal in restaurant - bread sticks horrible and soggy, smallest ever piece of skate wing, rolls served after starter and overcharged for fish. Security was poor at pool. No one asked for ID to check if guest or member - no system to sign in and people coming through gardens to swim. Poor security at car park - not aware of whose car using it, A locked car rolled forward, put on concrete bricks behind wheels to stop it. Entrance to hotel blocked by car for over an hour - no emergency services could have entered.Lady who collected car unknown to staff - they assumed she had been on beach. Lovely weather so we were able to spend most of day away from hotel. Poor value at nearly £500 a night b & b for 2 rooms. May be better when building finished.
My husband and I spent a week here as part of a group tour during the Cornwall Male Vocal Choral Festival. Our Large Seaview Room #22 (we paid extra to upgrade from the tour package) had a fantastic view. The current building has many steps and fire doors to get to the rooms, but they are building an entirely new additional building which looks like it will have an elevator. Well-located directly across from the beach and a lovely public garden. The staff people were exceptionally friendly, helpful and professional. And the food was amazing -- fresh, delicious and beautifully presented, an incredible feat when serving dinner to 37 people at once. The sticky toffee pudding was jaw-dropping good. If you get the B&B package, know that the breakfast buffet is substantial and varied. We don't expect to make it back to Cornwall again, but would highly recommend St. Michael's to anyone traveling in this area.
When booking this hotel we weren't made aware of the building and renovation works that were going on, but thankfully we'd upgraded to a sea view which meant we weren't bothered by the contractors that were working in car park areas etc. We were greeted with comfy beds, warm room and a terrific view over the bay..terrific ! Staff are very pleasant and attentive and helpful. Gluten free food products are available. Lovely walks along the coast and around the swan pool can be had. I look forward to a return visit once the building is finished and the new spa complete. So do check with the hotel before booking if you want a quiet & peaceful break
Stayed here with group of business associates, did not book room or pay for stay ouselves so cannot comment on value Our room was in the Captains House , separate to main hotel as it allows for dogs to stay too. Think it was room 5. Very small, and no provisions for the dog. Think we had been told there woukd be a bed, bowls , treats and a letter giving details of dog friendly places nearby. A word at reception and young man said he would take items to our room(. No info letter provided). This made room even smaller. (Have stayed in in main hotel previously and had a very spacious room) Room was overlooked by some apartments across road, felt we could do with some voile at windows. No bottled water, this is often available. No shower cap. Lovely toiletries.Good bed Door into ensuite needed a good wipe down on the edge. Evening meal for about 20 of us, pre ordered, took an age to be served .Starters did not all come together, those with soup getting a little frustrated as we waited for others to start. Chicken ballotine was very tasty. Main meal portions I thought were tiny. Would stay again in main hotel and not bring the dog Not many parking spaces as building works in progress Parking avaliable on road
