This is a tiny gem of a hotel with lovely public areas and elegantly appointed rooms. It has the look of antiquity, but all the comforts of modernity. Tastefully lavish, you will find yourself pampered here. Also it is both quiet and conveniently located to just about anything you might want to see in Cordoba. The breakfasts are fabulous!
Balcon de Cordoba is a lovely hotel. With just ten rooms, the staff are very personable. We stayed for one night. It is very close to the Mosque-cathedral and other tourist sites. The rooms are very modern, well decorated and clean. Our room was on the first floor. Whilst it didn't really have large windows the room faced onto the lovely internal area which was well lit. The room included a good breakfast which included freshly cooked hot items. The staff at the front desk were very helpful and gave good advice on where to visit. The rooftop balcony was lovely and you could even have drinks or dinner there. The only minus was the bed was quite hard. Overall the stay exceeded our expectations.
Excellent location service and charm. It is in the heart of the city's old quarter and we had a fantastic stay. It was conventions to walk to Mezquita which is absolutely spectacular, to the Jewish quarter, and to the Córdoba gardens.
We stayed at this hotel for 4 days & from the moment we entered, we were very impressed. We’ve never received such a welcome! Raul was at the main desk when we arrived, and as we understand is the custom, offered us a drink while he got out a map & helped us to get our bearings & plan our stay, giving us good advice on what to see when, taking lots of time to explain everything with genuine enthusiasm. The hotel is one of the loveliest & most unusual we’ve stayed in. Our room (Leyla) was beautifully decorated & very comfortable, from the bed with lovely linens to the sitting area with two wicker chairs and table. Bathroom was well planned with bath/shower, two sinks, toilet & bidet & was spotless. The room was well cleaned every morning and every evening when we returned, the room had been tidied again, with chocolates left on the bed & slippers waiting, a charming touch! There is a breathtaking view of the town from the rooftop terrace - too cold to sit out there in December for long, but definitely worth having a cup of hot tea & taking in the wonderful sight. We enjoyed the delicious breakfast each morning, with plenty of choice & attentive service. We also ate dinner at the hotel one evening - the restaurant is small and intimate and the food was very good. This hotel is truly charming & with its lovely inner patios & beautiful decor, you really feel like you are in Córdoba, not in a run-of-the-mill generic hotel. There is even a “secret door” which leads directly onto the famous Calleja de las flores - such a special experience to step out onto this little street which has been photographed millions of times - and sometimes to have it all to yourself (at least we were privileged to do so, being there in the winter!) If you are looking for an “authentic” place to stay which also ticks all the boxes of comfort, great location, excellent service and delicious food, this is your place.
We had a lovely experience at Balcon de Cordoba, and we loved how close it was to the Mezquita, which we visited twice because it is so amazing. We did learn that while admission is free in the early hours, we were asked to leave when regular hours started - we wish we had gone when it first opened to have more time to be there when few people were visiting. We ate dinner and breakfast at the hotel and both were excellent. We were also able to walk from the hotel to the train station to continue our travels - the walk goes through the center of Cordoba and takes about 20 - 30 minutes. While we were at the hotel, there was a couple who arranged a private dinner on the rooftop - looked very romantic and something my husband and I would like to do if we returned.
The location is delightful - in the heart of the old quarter The hotel was very comfortable with updated facilities. The staff was professional and helpful - from travel assistance to Flamenco shows. I would not hesitate to stay again
This hotel was really wonderful and we would definitely stay here again! The location and the service was unsurpassed! It had a fantastic balcony where you could see the city at night. I only wish had had another day there.
I stayed here with my mother in late November, 2017. Overall, the room and hotel quality were excellent, but there were a few gaps. First, the good things. The room is just beautiful. The view from the terrace is also just spectacular. We spent a fair amount of time out here the first night we were in Cordoba even though it was chilly. View can’t be beaten in the city. We slept well the first night, but the next morning the hair dryer kept dying while I was drying my hair. We didn’t have time to really deal with it due to having to make a bus for another city, so we both left with wet hair. Not ideal, but not a huge issue either. Hopefully they’ll resolve. The staff was nice about it, but I got the sense since it was a guy, he didn’t really understand why it was a problem to keep waiting 5+ minutes for it to start again after every minute or so. As a woman with a lot of thick hair, that would have taken all day. There was loud noise on the second night but only until around 11PM or so—so we were eventually able to sleep. At least I was, I think my mom slept better on the first night here than the second. Location was excellent—right on the alley of the flowers and right on top of all of the sights. We really did enjoy staying here despite the hair drying issue and the noise the one night. The pros outweigh the cons. One note on rooms, I do wish I could have swung an upgrade to a room with a terrace for this hotel. While our room was beautiful and very clean, I like having more window light. We did have two windows, but one was down the hall so we couldn’t see light really and the other was small. But, I think that’s just a weird personal preference. Staff was good and the breakfast was excellent. We left too early for the cooked breakfast, but had plenty with the yogurt etc that were made available. On our second morning we didn’t even have time for that but the staff were super nice and made us café con leche to have in our room while we got ready for our super early train. If staying in Cordoba, I’d recommend this place—just maybe get a higher room and bring a hair dryer...
Perfect in every way. Alex and David are superb and ensured we had a wonderful stay. The hotel and staff are wonderful and it’s a perfect location for exploring beautiful Córdoba. Highly recommend this hotel. Many thanks,
Taxi strike the day we arrived but Alex, Sergio & Raoul took it in stride and talked us through getting the bus on arrival. Not an easy thing. They can solve problems! Charming hotel. Spectacular view from rooftop. Antonio's sea bass and mushrooms delicious. How restful to simply go to the dining room to eat after walking all day. Our room quite comfortable. Bed was great. Only stayed one night but if it would be longer I would have asked to turn up the hot water heater for the bath, and unplug the refrigerator...but really, who can complain about this heavenly place? I loved it. Cordoba is divine.
