5 minute walk from the lake. Close to local beach. Lovely, friendly staff. Spotlessly clean. Room was of great size, simple decoration but everything you would need. Loved it! Would definitely recommend.
Well maintained clean hotel. Walking distance to the Lake. Room was comfy and clean. The Manager/Owner was very responsive with suggestions on what to do. Had a early check out and they arranged for a takeaway breakfast
Hotel Engadina's location is very accesible to the bus and railway station. Moreover, a grocery store, lakeside ferry pier, city center, and Tempio Voltiano ( a must see for the science aficionados) are all within 10-20 minute walking distance from the hotel. The accommodation is superb and is very adequate for a family of four. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The central location alone is already a plus for our needs as we could quickly reach the ferry station to explore Lake Como. The sports stadium is also walking distance for your sporting and entertainment events. The is a bar-restaurant next to the hotel but we did not have enough time to hang around and enjoy it. +++ My criteria for hotel rating is based the following: 1. centrality of the location- closeness to trains, buses, attractions, groceries, city center 2. cleanliness and amenities 3. service and ambiance 3. price
We stayed for four nights. The staff were helpful and friendly. Rooms were very clean and bathroom towels changed every day. Try to avoid the rooms at the front of the hotel as the noise of traffic is constant. Breakfast not great but overall we felt it was good value.
This is going to be a very mixed review. The hotel website and the travel agent we booked through both proclaimed Free Parking . However, when we arrived, very tired, late at night, we were told No parking you must park on the street and from 8am tomorrow pay 1E an hour. As we only were using our car to get from and to Bergamo airport, this was not welcome news! However, 7.50 am the following morning a very helpful replacement Receptionist found us a space in front of the Hotel which was free parking! There are only 7 spaces for a Hotel with 24 rooms! This should be explained on the web site so if you are unable to travel there by public transport you should be able to prebook a space. Our room (227) was a corner room and spacious with a lovely ensuite, good shower! But..the bed was very hard and neither of us slept particularly well. Also the rooms need double glazing! The dual carriage way outside is very busy all through the night! The bar below held a Karaoke night which didn't help! Breakfast is usual continental breakfast but Ok, coffee is good! The staff (apart from elderly gent first night!) were lovely, helpful, spoke good English and always smiling and pleasant. The hotel is 5 minutes walk from the centre of Como and about 10 minutes from the railway station. The old centre of \como is lovely with some beautiful buildings but the whole area is very built up and it is very industrial apart from the actual lakeside.
We stayed here for three nights for a short break to Lake Como and Milan. The hotel is situated next door to a "legal" cannabis shop, which we found rather amusing!! It's a 5-10 minute walk from Como Lago station and about 5 minutes from Como San Giovanni station and about 5-10 minutes from the centre of Como which provided a good base for us to explore Como and take the train for day trips to Milan and other parts of northern Italy. We had a basic double room in the first floor with a shower room which had disabled modifications including a somewhat odd toilet with the front 'cut out' - not exactly user friendly for us women as there was a bit of splashover(!!!) and a sink obviously designed for a wheelchair user. However the shower cubicle didn't make sense as it was very compact and the shower enclosure opened inwards! The bed was a bit hard but overall, the room was clean and housekeeping was done daily including fresh towels. There was a small fridge (mini bar) but no tea/coffee making facilities. Wifi was average but we didn't use this much as our data allowance was valid for Italy. Quality of sleep and soundproofing wasn't too good as there was quite a lot of noise from the road. Breakfast was a bit limited, mainly bread with cheeses and/or jam and marmalade, orange juice and tea/coffee served by reception staff but we filled ourselves up with the carbs and it set us up nicely for travels during the day until lunchtime. Staff were friendly enough. We would probably stay here again if we were to have another short break as it provided a cheap base.
Small hotel, 3 star but >I have stayed at 4 star hotels that had lower standard and service level. Nice breakfast with fresh bread and supplementary dished on order (egg/omelette etc) rather than piling up it was well presented and the empty plates were quickly changed. The rooms are very nice, and the showers in excellent condition. The view form the 4th floor is something extra! adequate ski-room for waxing you skies even though not equipment was available
We've been staying at this hotel for years. The hotel is very clean and the staff extremely helpful and friendly. We stay there twice a year on our way home to Germany. They have parking and the location is good. Everything in walking distance. I can really recommend it.
This hotel is walking distance from the train station and downtown, however it's just off a bit and the area doesn't feel that great. You have to walk between cars and over a beat up parking area to get in the front door. The rooms are clean, but just don't feel very warm or welcome. They are quite cold feeling. Breakfast is provided and was the standard european meats, cheeses and bread.
Stayed for a week recently. Had a really pleasant stay. really friendly and helpful nothing too much trouble. Just sorry they don't have a restaurant for evening meals! Very good central base. Really comfortable beds, staff extremely helpful and attentive.
