We started our trip in Como by staying at the Borgo Antico. The front desk staff was very good, offering suggestions for dinner and where to explore the town. The rooms are plenty large and well appointed. The morning breakfast was very good. The restaurant next door is supposed to be excellent, but we couldn't get a reservation, so they set us up in their bistro across the street...it was very good. The walk to down town is about 10 minutes, but is a pleasant stroll. Welll worth checking in to.
We stayed here one night to be closer to the train for the following day. It was a very doable walk (although at one portion we had to carry luggage up a long flight of steps) to the train station. The hotel was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was updated and spacious. The room was also spacious for 3 people and there was plenty of closet space. Breakfast was adequate. They had an egg cooker where you could make your own timed eggs. There was tasty fresh fruit, meats, cheeses, tarts, cereals etc. We had a comfortable one night stay and the staff was friendly.
I found the deal for this hotel on Expedia because I wanted something close to the train station. It was absolutely a fantastic place to stay. The hotel was immaculately clean, the rooms were well appointed (they figured out that I liked the ginseng shampoo and brought me more for later). The beds were nice and comfy and the towels were huge and cozy. The room was very quiet - it’s not a busy street. The staff were very friendly and helpful (excellent English). The hotel is also about a five minute walk from the train station which was ideal for an easy arrival and departure. The breakfast was really good with lots of selections and again the breakfast staff were so welcoming and friendly. I would definitely recommend and would consider going back.
Very clean hotel small hotel in Como. Friendly staff, good breakfast and very convenient to the Train station and several excellent restaurants. Would definitely stay again if visiting the city as it's a few streets over so on a quiet street.
Very nice 3 start hotel, great value for money. Rooms are nice, new bathroom and enough space. The hotel is located a few minutes walk from the city center. Prices are reasonable, staff is friendly. No won parking, but you can leave the car either on the street (paid) either in the nearby city parking. Breakfast a bit simple, but also ok. A great stop for 1 night and a very good price-quality relation. Highly recommended. It is not a top hotel, but for a 3 star it is very good.
Gorgeous hotel near train station. Very helpful, polite and receptive staff who are very keen to please. Small room, but clean and tidy. Quaint style hotel but we enjoyed our stay. Good breakfast without being excessive. Thanks to all!
Borgo Antico Hotel is a short walk from the San Giovanni railway station and a 10 minute walk to the harbor and piazza. The hotel is clean, quiet and the room are nice, but not fancy. It is located on a quiet street and several good restaurants are close by. The staff is most helpful in answering questions. Breakfast is good.
I stayed at the Borgo Antico for 3 nights, it’s is only a 5 min walk from the train station which is great ana close to Como town centre. On arrival I was told the air con was not working and an engineer was ‘maybe out tomorrow or later’. Needless to say the engineer never arrived and the room was stiflingly hot the whole time, making it very difficult to sleep. You couldn’t open the windows because of the noise in the street below. On the second day we were provided with a fan, it was better but not really enough when you are paying for a hotel with air con. The breakfast was nice, a selection or pastries, breads ham and cheese, plus eggs and cereal. Certainly enough choice. The hotel itself if very clean and of a nice standard in all areas, it’s obviously and old building but had been looked after well. The bathroom had a nice big abs powerful shower, some small packets of soap etc whichever as handy and fresh towels. Also an easy to use safe in the room. My main issue with this hotel, after the non existent air con, is the beds. I can safely say I have never had worse sleep than I have here, the beds are extremely hard and uncomfortable. Just a skinny single solid slab with two equally skinny flat and hard pillows, awful! You just cannot get comfortable enough to sleep properly. This impacted highly in my experience of Como as I was so tired the whole time, not ideal. This is why I cannot give this place higher than 3 stars, and I would not stay here again due to this.
This hotel is easy walk from train station and close enough to walk into main tourist area. Room clean and comfortable. The lady on front desk was just so sweet and helpful. Lady in breakfast room very attentive and lovely also. Breakfast basic but sufficient.
As a business traveller, over 170 Euros per night for a simple hotel with two small single beds in a basic room does in any way represent a value proposition. Even though the hotel was full (according to reception) it felt dead and completely soulless - never saw another guest during my stay. Got offered a free drink on arrival, only for the receptionist to tell me it doesn't include any alcoholic drinks. Wow thanks! Such a generous offer. Bed was very small and uncomfortable. On the plus side, only 5 minutes walk from Como F.S station. I won't be back though.
