Stayed two (rainy) days in Como. This hotel has a lot of character. It is an old building that was restored with taste and now offers all modcons. The location is good, just outside the walled city, which means it is easy to reach. Our rooms was clean, but the bed sheets a bit small. Good breakfast and friendly staff.
The hotel is on the fringe of the pedestrian zone which makes it easy to access and off load luggage. Rooms of the same category are inconsistent in size and amenities. I had a problem with the tv. They did send someone to try to fix it but he lacked experience. Only then did they send a second person. Sadly he could not fix the problem. The front desk then called me to advise that they could not fix the problem and expected me to accept the situation. I don’t think it is unreasonable for everything to work. After I was told a room change was impossible I stood my ground and insisted that they fix the tv. I think the front desk person was taken off guard when I stood my ground. To their credit they did send someone back. He did fix the problem but it was the dismissive attitude of the front desk person that was inappropriate.
The hotel is located at the boarder of the old town. We arrived with car and albeit they have a huge car park they did not allow me to park there. When we wanted to swim in the tiny pool the receptionist said that this is no longer possible as dinner starts now and, hence, no further swimming allowed ... we won’t be back.
Me and my family stayed two days at Le Due Corti in July and it was a mixed experience. The room we stayed in was quite large for Italian standards, beds were OK, and the location of the hotel is good. However, there are some concerns that is good to know about. The room we stayed in had a very poor air condition and since it was quite warm during our stay the temperature in our room never went below 30 degrees celsius during the nights. I thought it must have been broken so I told the staff but no improvement day two so probably an insufficient/old system. The rooms facing Via Milano are quit noisy. There is an ambulance station close by and we were disturbed 3 times the first night. Also there are some busses that runs on Via Milano until very late that you hear when you are about to go to sleep. Breakfast was quite a disappointment. Normally this is one of the highlight of the day, waking up eating a good Italian breakfast with good Italian coffee. But you will be better off spending your money on a nearby café instead. So to conclude, next time in Como I'll look for another hotel.
The staff was very helpful and kind. The first day breakfast was chaotic: too many people. The following days it was very good. Rooms were nice, good parking space. It is very well located, very near the most attractive part of the city.
We were very pleased with our stay at Albergo Le Due Corti. It is a bit of a hike from the train station if you are carrying bags, but doable. The neighborhood felt very safe. The staff was very helpful and responsive. The breakfast was excellent! If you drink decaf coffee, bring your own. But the cappuccinos looked wonderful! Our room was tiny, with little room for our luggage. It was well appointed and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was large and modern. WiFi worked great. Our only complaint was that we asked several times to have someone open the safe in our room so that we could use it. That request was ignored.
Very well located and welcoming staff. Rooms spacious and well equipped. Good restaurant and other amenities such as pool, and bike hire. Ample parking. Easy to walk into the town and to the waterfront.
This is the worst 4 star hotel,I stayed in the world. The service in the breakfast is very very bad. No table to sit, no cheese, very poor buffet. There is no coffee machine, you wait 10 min to have a cold coffee.
Beautiful building but incredibly poorly run hotel. No WiFi in rooms, front desk has no tourist info to hand out (photocopied map of city), broken things in room (telephone shower head, ceiling lights) reported twice and not fixed during 5 day stay, breakfast below average, no English tv Chanel’s and no info in room of tv chanels. Not a 4 star, more like a 2.
Today I called to book a room for 5 nights as we do for 10 years. Nr 1.On booking it costed €100 less then they asked us. Nr 2. They changed staff and they are not polite at all. Nr.3 When I told her about the price difference she told me it was not possible and afterwards it was becaurse it was a cheaper room. Furthermore, i asked if they could check our fixed prices of each year, which she couldn't do.. They just lost 3 customers.
