Broken Bed/Surprise Fees at the End of Stay
I decided to post this review after the owner sent me a message that he was charging me several hundred dollars for a “broken bed, broken pool table and clogged toilet.” Here’s the thing: the bed was broken when we arrived apparently, because it broke after merely SITTING. I informed him of this the first morning of our stay and he came over while we were out and fixed it. Secondly, the guys played on the pool table everyday, and I am not aware of it being “broken” at all, except the pockets being removable, etc. Third, the toilet clogged after it was used. Who can help that? My husband and brother plunged it several times and could not fix the issue. How is a guest responsible for plumbing issues that obviously exist on the property? Ironically, this host called me the morning of check-in to tell me that guests before me broke his shower downstairs and he had a guy there fixing the shower so he may or may not be finished by the time we check-in. He then told me that we could not use that shower for 24 hours. I wonder what he charged that poor guest? Sounds like this guy is just coming up with imaginary issues or preexisting issues trying to get unsuspecting, innocent guests to pay to fix his house. Oh! I forgot to add that as soon as I booked the place, he called to offer me another house because he “promised” the house I booked to someone else. Red flag.
