This was such a fun stay and a core memory for me and my son! The facilities were so convenient and had a fire pit, playground, sauna, and yard games. I wasn’t sure if we would have places to charge in the wagon but it had outlets and even had an outdoor outlet to plug in my EV. Would definitely come back!

The aesthetics for this place was top notch, the stars were epic. The bed was comfy but the problem was the heating. It not only couldn't warm the sleeping area, the blankets weren't adequate and the heater had to be drained every 2 hours.

The view was gorgeous. It was definitely clean. we did stay in a wagon for the night. definitely was freezing the whole night. i would definitely recommend bringing a heater, they have one already in the room but it only heats for a couple then blows cold air. Therefore i recommend before staying in one of those to bring an extra blanket to stay warm and a heater to have in the room. There was a lot of mosquitos inside the room as well so i would also recommend bring bug spray. I did like how the bathroom has the shower there. i would recommend wearing shower shoes. They do have a little store you can purchase snacks or wood to use. overall it was a great stay just wish i was more warm at night. Overall the space and outdoor area is nice.

Our covered wagon was so fun However the heater provided did NOT keep us warm- so probably not recommended in colder weather unless you bring plenty of sleeping bags or warm blankets The kitchen was stocked with plenty of snacks and drinks for purchase (over Venmo or cash app) which was great It’s not really a full kitchen for food prep as there is hot plate (to use pots and pans that were provided) or a sink to wash dishes They have everything you need to make a fire, however the bundles of wood are $8 each and only have 4 logs. (Bring your own) The sauna is only available from 4-8 pm each day and does not get that warm. The central fire pit area is fun do socializing with other guests and the corn hole is fun as well. This is not a good option for a Zion National Park stay. It is at least an hour away- which is very long after a full day spent in the park. There isn’t anything close from a food perspective- we mostly roasted hot dogs or ate in Hurricane (about 30 minutes away) They do not have a fridge or a microwave in the wagon, they do provide a cooler. And they provide two towels and some light bedding. There isn’t really a place to store or hang things. The WiFi was not strong or fast- even in the public areas It was nice that each spot had its own picnic table, fire pit, and garbage can. But no garbage can inside the wagon.

No staff, so I had to call support at night when they never sent my access code. Then had to spend 45 minutes calling support multiple times to locate towels that were in a storage room. Other guests had the same problem. Hot tubs are full of sand. Icing on the cake was a vagrant who was squatting on the property, appeared to be drinking, had no car, and was approaching guests asking for rides and making people uncomfortable. I would never stay here again. It's cheap for a reason.

This business hasn’t been open for very long. Walking around the property one could tell how hard people were working to add decorative touches to the landscaping. My husband and I stayed in one of the covered wagons. During the night a strong wind started to blow. The wagon top moved some which I enjoyed. It made me think about the pioneers and what they must have experienced during their travels. I know it was not the same since I was snuggled in a king sized bed with an a/c heating unit beside me. Bathroom/showers are located across the lawn. Simple luxuries I have taken for granted, which this trip reminded me of. We are planning on staying here again next year and we look forward to seeing how the place has improved. Next time though we will rent one of their tents and compare that experience to our great grandfathers civil war journal. Without hesitation, we would highly recommend this very unique and peaceful place. May your travels be filled with joyful adventures

My wife and I recently had the opportunity to stay at this unique property on the outskirts of Colorado City, AZ. I mean how often do you get to sleep in a pioneer style covered wagon!?! 😊 Wagon was spacious & clean with a very comfortable bed. Hosts thoughtfully provided a small firepit (which we used) and a grill (which we didn’t). Firewood and charcoal available, along with pretty much anything else you can think of. Groceries nearby allowed us to enjoy an evening picnic on the picnic table beside our wagon. Showers & bathrooms were clean, nearby and well lit at night. We stayed up outside in the evening looking at stars. Wow the stars! Amazingly quiet except for the occasional coyote howling in the desert which you back onto (solid wall fence provided barrier and great views). Great place to stay… highly recommend if you like a sense of adventure and romance!

Run, Don't Walk! The Desert Retreat is a 5-Star

From the moment we arrived at The Desert Retreat, we were absolutely blown away! This isn't just camping; it's a glamping experience elevated to an art form. The attention to detail is simply outstanding. The Desert Retreat offers a variety of charming accommodations, including old-time western-themed tents and wagons, which looked absolutely delightful! We, however, stayed in the cabin unit with a hot tub, and it was an absolute dream. Forget those rustic camping nightmares! The Desert Retreat boasts fantastic amenities, including not one, but two sparkling clean shower stalls and multiple bathroom stalls, plus convenient sinks in each. And get this – one additional bathroom even comes stocked with all the toiletries you could possibly need! Talk about thoughtful! Our cabin was equipped with a full fire pit and a regular grill, perfect for cooking up delicious meals under the stars. They even provide towels and an abundance of firewood at a super reasonable, minimalist cost. For those who love to cook, the free spices and the provision of pots, pans, and utensils were such a wonderful touch. Plus, each site has its own charcoal grill, and The Desert Retreat thoughtfully includes charcoal bags, lighters, and lighter fluid! Worried about the desert heat? Don't be! Every unit comes with its own air conditioning, and thankfully, heat for those cooler desert nights. But what truly made our stay exceptional were the hosts. They were absolutely amazing – so friendly, welcoming, and

This was an amazing experience. I took a motorcycle trip from Canada and was able to stay in a tent in the desert with a view of the Milky Way at night. There was an air conditioner by my bed which was helpful since it was hot when I arrived. I recoomend this place!

The wagon tents right across our tent were damaged. They failed to inform us of all the bugs that would be in the tent and on our bed. The bugs constantly dropped from the ceiling where they seemed to have nested. Big rig trucks constantly passed by behind our tent from the neighboring construction area, we were about 50 feet from that road. The toilet seat in one of the stalls had a streak of feces. Long story short, we ended up booking a nearby hotel.

Amazing getaway!

We had an amazing stay at Desert Sage Retreat! We stayed in the deluxe cabin and it was bigger than we thought it would be. Mind you, I just fit the king sized bed and futon, but it also had a small table, fridge, microwave and tv. Outside of the room, there was a hot tub, picnic table, BBQ and fire pit. They had an office that was open that had various snacks and charcoal for purchase. They also had items like lighter fluid, lighters, BBQ equipment, seasonings, etc to borrow. But let me tell you about the views. Make sure you’re there for sunrise and sunset and once it’s complete darkness, you’ll see every star in the sky!
