We stayed here for two nights and it was a great location for exploring Farewell Spit, Wharariki Beach and the walking tracks nearby. The beach is great for shell seeking. We had three units, each with en suite and a small kitchen. The owners were helpful with any requests. There are three cafes and two grocery/convenience stores in the town of Collingwood, one gas station and a small community museum. It is a delightful place! The rooms have bed warmers and heaters to take the edge off the cold nights.
Beautiful location within walking distance to the local high street convenience store and tavern. Room was well kept and had a small kitchenette area to use. The owners were very accommodating when we had a friend also turn up on the day to stay with us. This was greatly appreciated. It was also great to have movies available to watch in the evening. I chose this accommodation as we were taking the Farewell Spit tour. The pickup was 1 minute walk from the accommodation. Would highly recommend this place to stay.
Stayed a couple of nights in studio accommodation. Nicely situated across from the court house café - great coffee and breakfast. Owners very friendly and helpful. Accommodation comfortable if a little tired. Pretty garden to relax in. Good base to explore the fabulous Farewell Spit.
We stayed here one night before embarking on the Heaphy track and it was the perfect place to stay. The owner / manager is very friendly and personable. The little cottage we had plenty of character and sat in a beautiful garden setting. Great.
Conveniently located for visiting Farewell Spit Nature Reserve and Wharariki Beach. Comfortable clean accommodation with free wifi and good service. Across the road from the Courthouse Cafe which is where we had breakfast. Our hosts Sylvie and Darren were very flexible with our requests and communicated well in the lead up to our visit. Highly recommended and will visit again.
Great place to stay with very friendly and helpful owner who told us the best beaches to see and swim and where not to because of currents and tides! Everything we could want we had in our garden room and would definitely recommend to anyone planning a road trip around the South Island.
Lovely owners, and a nice place tucked away. Very quiet. Not fancy, but clean and well maintained. Internet reception is pretty good. Laundry available for a charge. The area is beautiful. We'd stay there again.
We stayed two nights in both a garden room and a room in the main house. The reason for this was we had to bail out on the Heaphy walk a day early due to the 300mm of rain that fell over the weekend of 21/22 January. The owners could not have been more helpful in taking us a day early and letting us get all our trek washing done in the laundry. The garden room had a good little kitchenette which was fine for a simple dinner and light breakfast outside in the sun. Next day we we're able to BBQ for a simple dinner. The room had lots of space and when you've been on the road a few weeks it's great to be able to do your own meals rather that eat out (again!). Clean, well maintained accommodation, lovely helpful owners.
A delightful place to stay a while when visiting Collingwood. Very helpful hosts at this historic property located in nicely kept grounds that visitors can enjoy. My garden motel contained all that was needed and had French doors opening to a private deck onto the garden. Close to the beach front and shops. Recommended.
Modern facilities in an historic building, (decommissioned Police station) sensitively updated. Our particular room had no kitchen however fry pan was offered and we found the Bar B Q more than adequate for our needs. I believe the cottages do offer cooking facilities. Darren and Sylvie were excellent friendly helpful hosts with a good knowledge of the area.. A great spot to stay and explore the surrounding area including Farewell Spit. Comfortable well presented and situated in the town.Would certainly stay here again.
