The service at this hotel is exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the staff at the front desk couldn't do enough to help us. The General Manager, Vikesh, used to work at the Oberoi Udaivillas, and he brings the service from that hotel to the Trident (also part of the Oberoi group). He came to introduce himself to us at breakfast, and he gave us so much advice about our route around Kerala. We hadn't booked our houseboat from Allepey yet, and he arranged for his staff to provisionally book us on one. The most amazing thing was that even after we had left the hotel, 2 days following our visit, he was calling us in respect of our boat reservation to see if we wanted him to confirm it. Service was over and beyond! Joe and Manit at the front desk were so beyond friendly also and spent so much time calling different boat companies for us. In the restaurant, the waiters were all so friendly and helped with all the different dishes. There was a lovely waiter, Sheldon, who bought us over insect repellent as we had ran out, plus packed up a box of food for us after breakfast as he knew we had a long drive to Munnar. The details of all the staff made the visit so enjoyable. Although we have singled out names, they were all incredible. In terms of location, it's a tuk tuk ride away from the tourist sites (Synagogue, Dutch palace etc). We loved the tuk tuk ride so for us it was a great location. Also, the restaurant provide a great list of restaurants, which was also so helpful. Definitely a good place to stay when stopping by Cochin for a couple of night!
Hotel is fine for a night, but decor is a bit dated. Didnt eat the food so cant comment on that. The staff checking in were good. Theres a bar - which is a big plus in Kerela! The reason for the low stars is the location. Its a real pain to get to from the typical tourist spots - its on an island surrounded by industrial estate.
I loved this hotel from start to finish. I agree with those that say the location is not ideal, however, if you have transportation it is a little haven of peace. Rooms were spacious and it was a bonus to have a bath rather than just a shower. Pool area is just lovely. Unfortunately hotel was being redecorated when I was there so I did have a man on a tower outside my room during the day. Everything was in good condition and I enjoyed the buffets.
This is an unusual quiet hotel almost like a hideaway on Willingdon island. All rooms overlook the pleasant courtyard with pool and garden. The staff throughout and the exceptional service they offered were one of the main parts of our experience; could not fault them and cannot name the best as all were the best! The room and bathroom were more than adequate. The food in the lovely restaurant was of a very high standard and most enjoyable. The small Spa offered very good Ayurveda treatment and both therapists were very good indeed. We stayed for 4 nights and would definitely recommend for a short stay.
The hotel is not in a good area for exploring Cochin. You would be much better in Old Cochin. It's an expensive hotel. Laundry that cost £20 elsewhere cost over £40. Food and drink very expensive. And don't get me started on the mozzys by the pool (but to be fair the whole of Kerala has mozzys).
The location and the rooms are enticing. But as a hotel with a brand name of such following it was disappointing to see the hotel standards at par with what you would expect from an unrated one. For one there were fruit flies flying around the desserts placed for the lunch buffet. The agonizing part was when I pointed it out the staff just smiled and left doing nothing about replacing it. Secondly, all of a sudden the water coming from the tap in the bathroom turned brown and again went back to normal. Thirdly three times in a span of two days I was constantly reminded to get up from the dining table I sat to be reseated in another one because the table I sat was reserved or closed for service. Why not have a note put on it rather than telling it to the face after being seated for a full ten minutes each time. Fourth and last they take an unusually long time to serve you food if you order A la carte. I hope these things are taken care of.
Our stay was for a day and the location of the rooms, proximity to business center, service from the hotel, buffet breakfast, checkin and check-out process was very comfortable. Smallest of our queries were well attended and was very comfortable being at Trident.
Excellent service from start to finish at the hotel. our flight was early and they secured us a room for early check in. The pool was lovely temperature and fresh towels, comfy sun beds. Due to jetlag we only ordered food from room service but it was good quality and hot. The breakfast buffet was good, great choice and variety. I would definitely recommend a stay.
Stayed at Trident, Kochi for our daughter's 1st birthday. The service was impeccable, thoughtful and considerate. Everyone from the GM to room service were superb, kind and courteous. Such a lovely property and a trip we will treasure. Thank you for making our daughter's birthday so special. Hope to be back soon.
The Trident Hotel in Kochi (Cochin), Kerala, India, is fine enough. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the staff was pleasant. However, the location is definitely not good. We'd been to Kochi previously and had stayed in a hotel near the old part of town, where most of the interesting things to see and do are. The Trident, instead, is located some distance from that area, in a location without much to do at all. In addition, as with our stays at other Tridents, our sleep was disturbed by noisein the middle of the night. (In this case, someone rang our doorbell at 1 a.m.). Why does a hotel room even need a doorbell? Finally, I was most unhappy with the restaurant. In the morning it took kore than 10 minutes to get a cup of coffee and the buffet offerings were limited. Those items that were Western, were not well executed. Dinner was much the same. After having eaten Indian food for two straight weeks, I was glad to see "authentic Italian pizza" on the menu. Wrong! I'm not sure what the crust was made of, but the sauce was definitely ketchup. This was my last stay in a Trident.
