Clean rooms, very helpful staff and a really good breakfast, couldn't ask for more, will definitely stay again, and the complementary tea and coffee was a very nice touch, also very handy for all the attractions in York.
The B&B is close to the train station, about 20mins walking in the city center. I really appreciate the very well cleaned room and the bathroom. Very comfy bed. Even if I had a small ensuite with single bed, the room space was good, with all comfort needed. The staff was good and very kind.
The hotel is well located a short walk to the town, with ample free parking (main reason for picking hotel in first place). The staff could not do more for the guests and the breakfast was excellent. The room was good as were the facilities. Every one went the extra mile to make us welcome. Would definitely stay there again.
My son was running in the York marathon so a group of us travelled up for a long weekend to watch him and sample the sights of york. We found B+B perfect for our trip. It was in a quiet part of town but only about a 10 minute walk from both the station and into the town centre. On arrival the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The hotel is in good decorative order and the rooms equipped with everything you need for your stay. Our rooms were at the top of the hotel and were reached via a winding metal staircase, fine for us but possibly a problem for anyone with walking difficulties. The rooms were a little small if you were staying for a week but but for a few nights not a problem at all. Part of the reason is because a compact little ensuite has been built into each room and a large person may find it a little too compact but again for us perfectly adequate and more importantly very clean. I personally much prefer a small en suite to shared facilities. The hotel had bottles of water and fresh coffee on offer 24 hours a day which was a nice touch. The breakfast was very good with plenty of choice and although on a Sunday breakfast service doesn't usually start until 8 am, they were aware many guests were supporting a marathon runner and started the breakfast service early so that we could eat before heading off to the start. If I visit York again, and I'm sure I will as it is a beautiful city, I would be more than happy to return to this hotel.
Just what you want from a hotel. Clean, well maintained, courteous staff, and good food with on site parking . I would definitely stay at this hotel again if I was working in York or if I was fortunate enough to be a tourist there..
Very comfortable, clean and well located for walking into York easily, the staff are very helpful and the bar area is lovely to return to at the end of a day, rather just to a bedroom as in some B&B's. This is the second B+B we have stayed at and love that coffee is available nearly all day and the breakfasts are always plentiful.
We were a foursome here for 4 nights. Our rooms were warm and spacious. The Bar and breakfast rooms were ideal. The Breakfasts were excellent, with a wide choice of continental and cooked options. they certainly set you up for a days sight seeing. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, booking taxi's and suggesting routes to walk. Hotel only a 10 minute amble from the Minster
Staff very nice, especially Vicki who checked us in and gave great directions through the city. Room # 28 is small and the bed (mattress) is uncomfortable. Room was very clean. Well decorated. Bathroom clean with average water pressure but need soap dish in shower as you have to hold your bath gel or soap in your hand as there is no place to rest it. Very tiny piece of soap for two people even for one night. Breakfast was average. To be fair we booked our room the night before and probably got their smallest room on the 3rd floor. Within walking distance of city center.
Just stayed in the b+b York [formely the groves] nice friendly welcoming staff clean ensuite rooms and also benefits from free parking in the hotels car park [ not on the road],good choice on offer for breakfast just no evening meals,me and wife stay here every year and now the hotel does a loyalty scheme which rewards you when you stay.
Check in was easy. Location is on a quiet street less than 10 minutes walk from old city gate. Our room was on the first floor of a separate building. Good sized room and bathroom. Took us a while to figure out that our room keys have a key to open the windows. No screens but as it's October, bugs were not a concern. Room was clean. Mattress was old, you could feel the springs in it, which could be a deal breaker for most but we were so tired we slept great. We had to leave to early to enjoy breakfast as it doesn't start until 730. There is tea, coffee and cookies in the room, which we enjoyed. Overall good place for the cost and the location is hard to beat.
