After a 4 night stay at this wonderful hotel, I would recommend it to anyone looking for great service, wonderful food and a great spot to visit a truly gorgeous part of Italy. My husband and I have travelled Italy extensively, but our experience in Citta della Pieve and the Vannucci was uniquely enjoyable (and reasonable!). We toured the Val d'Orcia and Pienza in Tuscany to Orvieto in Umbira. Thank you Francesca for the great advice. Hotel Vannucci is the spot for food lovers. Vito (the Chef) and his team make the most incredible fresh pasta dishes and you MUST try the daily specials that are created from ingredients sourced from the hotel's farm or other local producers. You can't eat better!! Orlando is wonderful and will tell you all about the local cuisine and wine.
We were 2 British couples celebrating my sister in law's 50th birthday in Oct 2016. Only one word can describe the food and service, amazing! Each of the 5 courses were cooked and prepared to perfection and the staff were extremely welcoming and professional. Orlando (Manager) was an extremely tentative host and hand picked our wines. We can't wait until we're back in the area and revisit this Italian gem.
Five night stay at beginning of October Good weather as usual -as we have found Italy first week of October great for the past five years Hotel staff at this hotel are amongst the best if not the best we have known. English spoken and English humour enjoyed. Spacious dining room and adequate breakfast - but best to try to beat a coach party should they turn up. We had 1st floor at the front. Light and airy with AC and fridge and hairdryer. No tea/coffee facilities - but available in bar. Road slightly noisy before 11pm and after 6am possibly better at the back but rooms above apparently smaller Hotel Restaurant very good- I would only recommend this and Duca's Bistro ( we had some disappointments elsewhere despite TA reviews). I would definitely both stay and eat again at this hotel.
We were thrilled with the wedding reception we chose to hold at the Hotel Vannucci in July. Easy to plan with friendly, helpful staff and excellent attention to detail. A wonderful experience for all our guests!!
We have been coming here for 10 years now. It always feels like coming home. The atmosphere is very pleasant, the whole team is extremely helpfull and nice, the kids are already feeling home like we. The restaurant is really good with great signature dishes, excellent price/quality and also lots of locals who visit. Don't miss the slowly cooked cheek of veal.
In this charming Umbrian town, Hotel Vannucci is a real find. It is perfectly located to explore the town and the surrounding area. The rooms are up to date, spanking clean and the restaurant is superb. The menu is varied and the food and the pizzas delicious. And if you like wine-this is the place-a great variety of fine quality wines, reasonably priced, from the region and elsewhere. The staff is friendly and helpful. There is even a very workable fitness center in the lower level. I plan to come back to Hotel Vannucci.
We were staying at the hotel when the Palio was celebrated late August.. What a parade with Renaissance customs that were elaborate velvets and satins. The women's hair were expertly accurate, and the men represented the church and local governments in fabulous costumes. It was a fun day sitting on the wall with thousands of others enjoying the day, horses, a huge cow pulling a huge wagon. All the tavernas opened with the entire town helping to serve food. The hotel was in the middle of this as it is located in the center of town. That evening, the hotel served delicious meals to many families and visitors. They did a splendid job as it was very crowded and exciting. We would not have missed this vacation for anything.
This is a very nice hotel with friendly staff. It is on the border of the small town. Everything is in walking distance, there's cummunal parking nearby. They have a nice garden and a small pool. We stayed in a deluxe room with 3 persons. The rooms are nicely decorated. Airco was a bit noisy so we had to cut it at night as I'm a light sleeper. Bathroom is nice, though the shower is a bit clumsy (next to a window with a wooden tablet). Good breakfast which also caters for food allergies. The hotel is also accessible for wheelchairs (not all rooms).
Just as lovely as we remembered it from last year, and we had a very happy time lounging around and taking their bikes out. And getting lost in the forests! A small hotel with a restaurant serving regional dishes, served in imaginative ways. Fantastic wine list. Room very clean and smart with a lovely view. Orlando and all his staff work hard, are very charming and professional and a pleasure to talk to . Back again next year with any luck! The only thing I would change is the mattress - rather hard and uncomfortable for my personal preference.
Absolutely a nice place in many respects : location in nice, very close to the city center (Città della Pieve is a nice cosy place). Room are nice, well decorated. The bathroom is rather simple (especially the shower could be higher quality for a 4`hotel), staff is very friendly and helpful, they have a nice restaurant (see more about that in a separate review) and they have a small but cosy swimming pool with towel service. Some coffee making facilities in the room would make it a true 4`room. The reason why I'm not giving a 5-rating is mainly because breakfast is below target : choice of bread is really poor, and the bread is not high quality (the white bread is very good for exercising your chewing muscles however). The rest of the breakfast assortment is also limited. But if you plan to stay in the region, definitely a place to consider.
