Not as it Used To Be

Last I was at this hotel and Suanbo was 1987. The hotel has not been upgraded since then. Originally the Hot Springs was the attraction. Community Hot Springs were available. Now they only offer separate Hot Springs for Male and Female. In town there is a Hot Spring foot bath. Not as fun as it used to be. The Hotel Staff were excellent though.

What a great ๐Ÿ˜ƒ place to enjoy hot springs โ™จ๏ธ. Wonderful place in the mountains so quiet and peaceful. Perfect place to be away from the big cities. Recommended highly!

Might be better during ski season

Hotel was difficult to find; it took us 3 tries w/ different GPS apps. Immediate area gives off a severe "sleepy town" vibe. Maybe this place bustles during winter months; I noticed some ski lifts as we drove around. But in mid-summer? Not so much. There's nothing around the hotel, unless you walk allllll the way down its steep, winding drive. And maybe you will & maybe you'll enjoy exploring the few streets & restaurants (& maybe they'll be open). But then you'll have to walk allll the way back up. That won't be fun. There's a restaurant in the hotel; prices seem reasonable. The "spa" is traditional Asian bathhouse. Despite "massage" on the website, that's NOT an option; no spa services other than hot spring-style baths, split by gender. The staff was friendly, but spoke no English, despite advertising Eng/Kor on the website. The hotel hallway carpet should've been replaced a decade or more ago. But, if this place is as popular in winter as I'm guessing, then excessive snow damage WOULD account for the carpet's wear&tear. The room lock is digital & new. Room has a shoe foyer & you step up into the room. The A/C didn't work. Despite advertising "English", nothing in room had an English manual. We both LIVE in Korea & we couldn't make the TV turn on. The beds were FIRM. FIRM. The room & beds were clean. There were summertime bugs in the bathroom (not roaches, just flying bugs from the windows being open). This place offers hotel-level pricing & motel-quality.
