Bear of Burton is the Best!

The Bear of Burton was an absolutely amazing place to stay. Was in Ramsdown room which was the most beautiful and comfortable room I have ever stayed in with cute bear details! Easy walking distance from Christchurch train station (1.6 miles) and to sites around the town. DInner and breakfasts were fantastic and delicious! Best gin and tonics. Bed was comfortable and property was quiet. Had the best rest of my trip here and was sad to leave the luxury room and food. Location also holds craft morning once a month with local crafters showing and selling handmade wares during breakfast. Got some Christmas and baby gifts done before heading out. Absolutely wonderful stay, 10 of 10 and I will return in future!

6/10 Okay

Gordon

The biggest problem was the lack of a lift. As we are both mobile but elderly my husband had a heavy case to carry up a spiral staircase to the first floor. The lady did offer to carry it for us but there must have been ‘a man’ in the hotel. We had been previously allocated a top floor room but the lady kindly changed our accommodation to the first floor. We didn’t eat at the Hotel in the evening. We thought for instance the rib eye steak pricey.

Beautiful room and incredible food

Beautiful stay in the Goldilocks room, room was well decorated and very comfortable. We had the room with the bath in which was stunning, great selection of amenities for the bath too. Our dog did come for the stay too (which was £20 extra) and it was very easy to get out in the night if they needed a toilet trip. Dinner was superb as was breakfast (cooked to order) I would honestly say no complaints at all about the whole stay, perfect birthday/babymoon trip for us - thanks!

A great boutique style hotel. We came at Christmas and it was beautifully decorated through out. The rooms are equipped with quality items and it is a real place to relax. The breakfasts were amazing and the evening menu was varied and high quality. We will be back!

Best so far in 2024

I stay away from home a lot and book different venues. This has to be the best room/ensuite I have stayed in so far in 2024 (now in October). Room was lovely, bed was super comfortable. There was a desk to work at in the room, wardrode for hanging clothes, good sized TV on the wall, chairs next to an easy table, wall fitted aircon unit. Ensuite was a great size, with a sensor night light so you did not have to turn on main light in ensuite. Breakfast does not start until 8am, but they do offer a continental breakfast if you have to leave early.

We stayed one night at The Bear and loved it! It’s a beautifully curated boutique hotel with lots of quirky and bear-themed art and accessories in the rooms and restaurant. Our room was immaculately clean, decorated really well with a Nespresso machine, kettle, air con and Dyson fan and a small table and chairs. It also had the largest bathroom we’ve ever had in a hotel with a huge walk in shower with rainfall head plus a bath! One small and unique detail was a voucher for a complimentary gin & tonic in the bar and chocolates (and the gin collection was quite something!). Staff were very good at check-in and attentive in the bar and at breakfast. Breakfast consisted of a cold buffet of pastries, granola, yoghurt, fresh fruit and juices then followed with a cooked-to-order choice. Food was delicious. Only 5-10 minutes from Christchurch harbour and Highcliffe in the other direction. All in all, our stay here was excellent and we would love to return again and would definitely recommend this beautiful hotel to anyone.
