Great location a short drive from a beach we found. There isn’t a lot near the hotel but it is accessible to the surrounding areas for visiting places by car or bike. The room was large and had aircon plus a huge Dyson fan which was a plus in the heatwave. King size bed and double aspect and tastefully furnished with tea, coffee and water. Couldn’t fault the room. We ate in the restaurant ( outside dining) which was great but I booked prior to arrival. The food was average, we had a steak which was overcooked. The staff were lovely and couldn’t fault them. Would definitely stay again and highly recommended.

Great stay at The Bear of Burton

Lovely rural setting, very clean & tidy. Nice idea to offer complimentary G&T. Good food. The GM was very welcoming checking me in and showing me my room. The GM was also on duty for breakfast service and accommodated my need to leave early. Can recommend,

Mixed good & bad

Good things: lovely room & bathroom. Drink on them on arrival which was a lovely touch. Only downside was a droning noise at night coming from some power source, which made it difficult to sleep before about midnight when it stopped. It started again at 7.30am. We were in Delcombe room. Mixed breakfasts: my husbands full english he said was very good but my dippy eggs were not runny & my smashed avocado was overwhelmed with tomatoes, so much so that the sour dough toast was very soggy. Howevet i only had to ask for a normal piece of toast & it arrived in replacement quickly. We enjoyed our stay on the whole but wouldnt stay again because of breakfast & the noisy room.

Good availability for parking, but car park could do with being resurfaced. Easy to check in and room was nice - very comfortable bed, a few quirks in the bathroom with a very low mirror over the sink that has you bent over to use and you can’t open the window to let out the steam. We had breakfast and dinner whilst here. Both meals were excellent- good choice and very tasty. Good selection of drinks as well. Was a good base for a visit to the area and would recommend

Lovely stay. The staff upgraded us to a larger room because of the extra stairs we had to climb with our luggage. They did not charge us. Dinner was delicious, and the service wonderful.

Perfect getaway!

Lovely stay at the Bear of Burton. We treated our sons and their partners to an evening meal and overnight stay. The whole evening was great. The atmosphere was perfect. The staff were all extremely helpful, and our rooms were delightful. I can’t fault the meal, the service, the room or the lovely breakfast. I would recommend a stay here.

Bear of Burton is the Best!

The Bear of Burton was an absolutely amazing place to stay. Was in Ramsdown room which was the most beautiful and comfortable room I have ever stayed in with cute bear details! Easy walking distance from Christchurch train station (1.6 miles) and to sites around the town. DInner and breakfasts were fantastic and delicious! Best gin and tonics. Bed was comfortable and property was quiet. Had the best rest of my trip here and was sad to leave the luxury room and food. Location also holds craft morning once a month with local crafters showing and selling handmade wares during breakfast. Got some Christmas and baby gifts done before heading out. Absolutely wonderful stay, 10 of 10 and I will return in future!

The biggest problem was the lack of a lift. As we are both mobile but elderly my husband had a heavy case to carry up a spiral staircase to the first floor. The lady did offer to carry it for us but there must have been ‘a man’ in the hotel. We had been previously allocated a top floor room but the lady kindly changed our accommodation to the first floor. We didn’t eat at the Hotel in the evening. We thought for instance the rib eye steak pricey.
