The Local Experience - Zaboka Apartment

The best local meals on island can be eaten at The Local Experience. The Local Experience is a family home (with children), the place to be for your home away from home vacation. This cozy space is perfect for your stay and you automatically become part of this big family. We are located in Riviere Doree, Choiseul (south of the island) close to all of the enjoyable sightseeing locations on our small island. The apartment is approximately 10 minutes walking distance to a quiet beach and river. We look forward to your stay!

The best place to stay in St. Lucia

Our host and her family warmly welcomed us to their home, we had everything we needed, the kitchen was a great space and we were very grateful for the hospitality and support we had during our stay. The location is also perfect, not too far from the pitons and soufriere - we did go to the north but felt it wasn’t worth the trip and had all of most enjoyable time in the west. We had a life changing experience and we hope to come back soon be day and stay again. Thank you!!

Wonderful experience!

This was a great place to stay while we were in St. Lucia. It was close to local attractions and not too far from the airport. The hosts made excellent food and were very gracious. Would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful people, exceptionally clean. The meal of local cuisine was excellent after a long travel day. We would stay here again, begin your St.Lucia adventure here immersed in the local culture. We miss Lucy already.

The name says it all

If you are expecting Sandals, this is not for you, but if you truly want to experience life among the locals, you will find nothing better. Our hosts could not have been more welcoming or better at including us in their family. We took part in local school activities, family outings, meals, shopping, fishing, and even church. The unit itself was fully functional and more than adequate for our needs; anything we needed, our hosts provided, even going so far as to provide us regularly with fresh fruit from their own trees. We believe that we will consider Alex, Winnie, McGarvin, and Lerona and their families friends for life.

Clean, eco-friendly, & very relaxing!

If you are looking for The Local Experience of what it is really like living in St.Lucia, then this is the place to stay! The large apartment is clean and comfortable. I opted for their meal plan of both dinners and breakfasts and was not disappointed with the local cuisine. The multi-generational family that lives onsite takes great care of their property and their guests! Fruit trees everywhere, a small swimming pool to take a dip in is on the property or one can take a 5-minute walk to the salt-water beach or the fresh-water Doree River for a swim. This is an excellent place for a romantic get-away for couples who appreciate nature, as there is only one rental unit and dinners include tablecloths and candle light.

A lovely place to stay

As our holiday was self catering we were a bit apprehensive but once we got there all apprehension was dissolved. The hosts were just amazing and the property was what we expected and more. Its located near to most of the tourist attractions so even if we didn't have a car the local buses were quite regular, cheap and could take us almost anywhere. If you don't mind the sounds of crickets at nights and neighbouring cockerels to wake u up at mornings then you will be one with nature. Definitely the place to stay again if we were ever to go back to St Lucia.
