This property is in a great location and the parking was very easy. The front staff also accommodated an after midnight arrival. You just have to make sure you let them know in advance, otherwise you will be stuck outside. Other than that, the hotel had quite a few issues. First of all, it was so loud every time we got up to walk around in our room that it sounded like elephants walking around. We could even hear other people moving around and talking in their rooms. The bathroom wasn’t very clean. The toilet needed scrubbing and the shower had hair in it. By far the most frustrating part of our stay was the fire alarm that went off not once but twice during our stay…. We even had to evacuate the room at 2am for a false alarm. I would not recommend staying here.

Very poor kept. It could be a jewel but it is not. We just didn’t have a choice but if we did we would have gone somewhere else. The only positive thing was the young lady in reception who went out of her way to help us.

The hotel has an elegant exterior and the rooms boast high ceilings. The parking is free and the situation is lovely as it overlooks the river and a lovely park. The rooms were decorated a la 50’s - dated, dingy. Steep steps to negotiate for my blind dog. Lovely staff.

Property is well positioned close the river. Staff friendly and helpful. They welcome dogs, which is what attracted us in first place. Lovely walk along the river. Big car park opposite. Good restaurant with excellent food.

Good hotel

Be aware, when it says checkin is at 3, the front door is locked until then. I had a reasonably spacious room looking out onto the square in front. Apart from a hanging rack the only drawer and shelf were taken up with spare bedding so nowhere to put clothes out of the suitcase. I glanced into a couple of other rooms and it may just have been a problem with my room. Good breakfast available in the courtyard which was secluded and quiet. Easy walk to the centre of town and lots of available cafes/restaurants close at hand.

Wow! We were so pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Although we booked a standard room we were upgraded to the most amazing suite! It was modern and huge…gigantic Android TV and a supersized shower. None of the photos shown on Expedia show a room like this one. The lady who checked us in and out was very gracious and kind. Location is amazing to walk to restaurants and sights. We arrived on a Wednesday night by chance and we’re lucky that the weekly market was the following day and it was just a few steps from the hotel. Our room was in a courtyard location and was very quiet. Usually we find disappointments in many of our hotel bookings, but this hotel exceeded our expectations and we will return! Can’t recommend highly enough.

Fabulous Service & Stay

We stayed here for one night on our return journey from Portugal to the UK. In these strange Covid times, we were the only guests in a 75 room hotel, but the service was fantastic. With the restaurants closed, our host provided us with a lovely tray of food and a lovely local wine (extra charge) which we loved. We were tired on arrival from our journey and it was lovely to have a meal prepared for us. The hotel room was large, warm and comfortable and our two dogs were also welcome to stay which was why we chose this property. Highly recommended.
