Location and shuttles are very convenient however rooms are expensive and not 5 star hotel

Nice hotel inside the park. Good decor. Convient to many sightseeing spots.

The hotel is in a beautiful setting, well situated for those wanting to see the sunrise over the mountains, which is a main attraction in Alishan. Our room was clean and comfortable, the hotel"s facilities were good and the staff was helpful and friendly. The negatives were that the hotel was expensive even by Western standards and the food in the hotel dining room was mediocre, well below the quality we have encountered in other hotels in Taiwan. We found that Alishan Village lacked the good and inexpensive dining alternatives we've seen elsewhere in Taiwan, so the food quality issue at Alishan House is a more significant problem than it would have been had other decent restaurants been nearby.

Be it in terms of facilities, convenience or by other measures, hands down this is the best hotel in Alishan. The staff is friendly, the food is wonderful and the services that it is has to offer are great. The only issues that one could possible have with the hotel is that it still seems a bit pricey for what one gets vis-a-vis a hotel in another location on the island such as Taipei, and possibly due to the misty environment of the mountain, the building itself seems somewhat worn. However, I still do think that this hotel is the best starting-off point for a trip to Alishan.

The room air conditioning machine temperature device gave loud clicking noise. Reported the problem at 4:30 pm and requested service, the hotel staff said to send mechanist to check. However, after 30 min wait, nothing happened. Had to call again, this time the technician showed up and acknowleged the issue and said he'll return and replace the part. He didn't return until at least 40 min later. After trying for 15 min, he said the issue cannot be fixed right away and he'll request a room change for us. We went for dinner and came back at 8 pm and called front desk. They said they'll switch room for us. The wait started again. At 8:50 pm, had to call again and complained their service response. Finally, the room change happened.
