Fantastic small cosy hotel in the heart of the Chianti region. Very helpful staff. Very good breakfast and a bar with a great selections of drinks. Our room was lovely and very clean with a big new bathroom. Important for us because we were with our car the hotel has a private closed parking. Good choice in tuscany.
A slightly unusual hotel hidden deep in the Tuscan countryside. The hotel is found off the main road between Radda and Castellina. It has a long driveway and a peculiar car park which you need to buzz to be allowed in. The hotel is a converted mansion and the rooms are quite small - tip ask for a room high in the main house and not in the basement. Inside the main reception, the decor is traditionally Italian and the staff are very friendly and helpful. They do have a pool area but it's not particularly well kept and has a big ugly fence surrounding it. There are some stunning views over looking the Tuscan hills and this hotel is worth a visit if you want a nice secluded spot away from the main tourist hubs.
Nice, relaxing, traditional villa in excellent location in the middle of quiet garden in Tuscany countryside. Great swimming pool in privacy and beautiful view to the valley. Enjoy your breakfast in the sunny terrace or dinnger in restaurand La Cantoniera in walking distance.
We stayed at the villa for 12 nights in September 2016. This is our 4th stay at the villa. This place is really like a Tuscan Paradise. If you've ever imagined what a beautiful villa in the Tuscan countryside is like, go no further, this is it! The location is perfect, right in the center of the Chianti region of Tuscany, great for day trips. It's only a few kilometers outside the beautiful small town of Castellina in Chianti. The villa's rooms are large and beautifully decorated with antiques, each with a private bathroom. The rates are very reasonable. The grounds are beautiful, set in the woods, and the outdoor terrace has a spectacular view of the Chianti countryside, including valleys and mountains. The hosts are wonderful, and really treated us like family! A bar and snack service is available, which we took full advantage of, and restaurants are close by. We absolutely love this place, and will definitely stay again when we return to Tuscany.
The setting is exceptional on the top of a hill. The view on the the woods of Chianti and Tuscany is gorgeous. However the garden of the property is not well kept and dead trees hide the view. The building itself needs maintenance. The rooms are large but old with bathrooms that need renovation. Hopefully nobody in the hotel flushes the water while you shower: you might have to wait a while until water starts flowing regularly again! Strange noises and dripping will keep you company all night long. Some of the rooms are in the lower part of the building with no windows apart from the door. Breakfast is very basic and tables are not cleaned until all the guests have finished their breakfast. That means you have many chances of eating with most of tables around you covered with dirty dishes and cups. Rooms have no numbers or names. You are required to remember the color of the key when asking it at the reception and the location of your room. There is a nice and clean swimming pool. Free parking.
This is a great place to base yourself for exploring the Tuscany area. The hotel is located with a great view of the surrounding valleys and hills, with scenery that makes for a great Tuscan sunset photo to remember! We were given the largest room ever which leads out to a common terrace to enjoy the scenery. As the place is quite remote, it was great that the kitchen had a comprehensive menu for simple snacks and soups up to the late evening on days that we did not feel like driving out to eat. Meals are served in a terraced area with the same great view. There is a swimming pool (closed in the month of May that we were there) and the grounds around the hotel are worth walking around on its own, with hammocks under the trees and quaint decorations around. A hotel that is definitely worth considering!
This small hotel was a gem. It’s located just outside Castellina so it is very quiet with gorgeous views of the Chianti valley. Private Parking was free. The room was a good size, well-furnished, clean and looked recently updated. Our bathroom was modern and spacious. Breakfasts were very good with a wide range of fresh fruit, cereals, cakes, meats, tomatoes and cheese. Eggs were available as well, along with some excellent special coffees. The patio area outside is ideal to take in the views while you eat your breakfast or sip a drink at the Bar. The panoramic terraces and the huge garden area were also available anytime and indoor seating in front the fireplace was bright with all the walls filled with windows and doors opening to the outside. Staff was very welcoming and helpful. We used this place as a base to drive in every direction enjoying the Chianti and the beautiful Tuscan countryside. The inn is just three-minutes by car from Castellina in Chianti, 20 minutes drive from Siena and 30 minutes from Florence. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Tuscany.
We wanted to visit the Chianti region with my family and considered Villa Sant' Uberto for that occasion. It was a great choice. As everyone can see, the place itself is fantastic and could not be more idyllic. Beautiful location with rolling hills and vineyards and olive trees as far as you can see. But the real outstanding thing about Sant' Uberto is the staff. They seem to be working day and night, always have a smile for everyone. Our room was adorable and we loved our bathroom, which had heated towel racks which enabled my laundry to dry fast. The breakfast one of the best we had in Italy (special mention for the fresh fruit salad, ricotta cheese, eggs with tomatoes, homemade cakes.....) We highly recommend this remarkable and charming little hotel to anyone who wants to experience the authentically classic Tuscan life style. Big thank you for unforgettable moments and we hope to come back soon!
We travelled to Tuscany in June 2015. We picked 4 locations in Tuscany to stay of which Sant'Uberto was the first destination, all based on searching online and reading reviews on Trip Advisor. We rented a motorcar at Florence airport and somewhat leisurely made our way along the hilly countryside towards Radda after exiting the Autostrada. We did do a bit of backtracking to find the Inn as it is not in Radda proper, We knew we were getting close when we spotted a lovely stone building that housed a pizzeria as this had been pointed out as a landmark and place to eat in the area but some reviewers.( We ate there one evening and it was fantastic)The grounds and the Inn are situated on a hilltop with a magnificent view of a large lush valley and many distant overlapping hills and far off, towards Firenze, to the north a backdrop of hazy mountains was evident. The area is extremely rural and rich with biodiversity in all forms. For those who love exploring flora and fauna there is a series of roads with no vehicle access that lead deep into the valley through forests. I was fortunate to see a family of wild boar, very common in Tuscany, and a local delicacy, and also a herd of deer as I walked the trail one evening as the sun started to wane.Cuckcoo birds are abundant as are many othe species I was not familiar with. The ecosystem must be somewhat healty as there were many bees evident, in fact the air was alive with the buzzing of bees and other insects and some were as large as your thumb. Cypress trees dot the property and there is a pool and patio area overlooking the magnificent views. The suite we occupied was stellar, in top form with everything needed to be totally comfortable including utensils and an espresso maker(of course) The Innkeepers were very pleasant, and professional , and basically invisable unless you required something at which time they were most gracious and accommodating. We took breakfast on the outdoor terrace every morning while there, an excellent buffet was provided each day. We did not take dinner there but one evening we went to the dining area and choose a local Chianti Classico from Radda from there well stocked wine selection and had some delicious appertifs. To some up if you are looking for a quiet, natural and scenic getaway, in the heart of Chianti region with reasonable fees and a central location close to many medieval towns this is the place for you. I seldom want to revisit an area, preferring to explore new parts of the world on each trip but I have to say I have very fond memories and Sant'Uberto is still tugging at my coat tails. I do think I shall return.
This is a charming family run inn right in the heart of beautiful Chianti. Room was a very good size and was spotlessly clean & decorated tastefully. Bathroom was of a comfortable size, had a shower with very functional doors. The inn is in the perfect location for enjoying everything in the Chianti area. The best part of the experience, though, is the hosts. They are very welcoming, caring, warm and attentive hosts. Breakfast was consistently good, including homemade pastries & cakes that were excellent. We would definitely stay here again.
