Views from swimming-pool and rooms (when facing the river) are really peaceful and inspiring... only pity for us is that the weather was windy and cold (perhaps unusual!) and there was no indoors restaurant for dinner or breakfast, making it hard to enjoy both food and views. Otherwise, recommendable!

The room has a sign “No Smoking.” One of the three rooms I booked, room “101”, has strong “Smoking” smell. I have asked the hotel receptionist to change. The answer was the room is fully booked. They sent the refreshening spray and a cleaning lady to spray the room. Not OK!

We love Chiang Kong and so we were looking forward to our 2 night stay at the IBIS Styles. We stayed in a river front bungalow room and have to say that the views over the Mekong are to die for. Absolutely wonderful. Big positives for us were the super comfy bed, the great breakfast, off street parking and of course sitting on our balcony looking out over the river as the sets or rises. Overall we enjoyed our stay but need to point a few minor negatives which include the age of the rooms we stayed and to advise that they really do need to be updated. The new hotel complex looks beautiful but the older part of the hotel is very old and needs to be renovated to Accor standards. Staff were always friendly and respectful when greeting us but check in staff clearly did not know about the Le Club Accor Loyalty program and drinks staff make a terrible mocktail. Minor issues overall as we had a great time and will return as they have advised that we can bring our dog.

with the big room and magnificent view of Khong river is the spectacular experience , Service is superb. the swimming pool is one of the most beautiful view and magnet. the price of food at restaurant is also cheap.

We stayed overnight in one of the standard bungalow rooms before heading into Laos and had a good experience. The grounds are quite lovely and there is a very nice outdoor pool. It is located off the main street and is within walking distance of a few temples, the 7-11, restaurants, bars and a night market. There are free bikes available to further explore the area. The breakfast buffet is reasonable - Asian and Western selection. Unlike some of the previous reviewers, we had butter for toast and milk available during our stay. Breakfast is set up on a terrace that overlooks the pool and the Mekong River, so if you get there early in the morning you can see the sun rising over the river as you enjoy your coffee. It was quite peaceful and serene. Overall, we enjoyed our brief stopover in Chiang Khong. The staff were helpful and friendly. The offered us a herbal welcome drink and made sure that we received the visa documents from the Mekong cruise company.

Nice and clean hotel. Staff very kind and helpful! Very good location in the Main Street of Chiang Kong. Big swimming pool ! Bicycle for free and scooter renting easy. We enjoyed our 2 nights stay. We would recommend !

I recommended here for your relaxation on your vacation. The room clean and very comfortable, Swimming Pool with the nice view on Mekhong River, Great Facilities, Friendly Staff, Free Bicycles are available.

We stayed 5 nights in a superior river view room (main hotel ) Plus points: Arrived using the ibis shuttle from Chiang Rai @ 450 baht per person. Amazing river view and nice gardens, with the infinity pool alongside the river . Good sized room and very clean. Super bath tub on the large balcony - amazing wow factor in a 3 star hotel. Decent buffet breakfast, plenty of choice :Aoy excellent and all staff aimed to help us. Ate at the restaurant on an evening and food was always good and very reasonably priced. Free bicycles to borrow Easy walk to 711 and local bars. (We loved Rin Bar, 100m from hotel for beers) Grab a Tuk-Tuk to Tesco Lotus /KFC approx 2 miles.(double check the price!!) A few minor points Pool busy on afternoons with lots of kids (great if you have kids!) On the Sunday morning it was impossible to even get in the pool as the unsupervised kids had 4 inflatables in there. Found that there was a bit of a smell from the bathroom drain (we asked the cleaner if she could put more bleach in but didn’t work) WiFi intermittent ( but on border of Laos ) When we left there was a massive storm and both us and the bags were soaked. The area between the lobby and the hotel rooms is open. Check out was slow and seemed disorganised. For a 3 star hotel on the border of Laos and Thailand it definitely exceeded my expectations. The GM, very visible, helpful and a pleasure to deal with, also leads by example, he asked us if we needed anything and even took us to the Friday night food market. !

We stayed three nights in this property. The strong point of this place is definitely the location: hotel and bungalows overlooked the Mekong river with the view on Lao at the opposite side. We really enjoyed the swimming-pool as well as the breakfast area. Our bungalow was nice with a private terrace and mattress was very comfortable. However it really needs some maintenance and cleaning [air-conditioning was very dusty for example in the bungalow 135]. There was a strong humidity smell in the room when we checked in. Breakfast was a generous buffet served on an opened-terrace. All items were not tasty and some basic items were missing on a daily basis [two first days, there was no butter ; last day, no more milk]. Worth to be noted there is a huge Tesco Lotus at 1km and 7-eleven at 500m: easy to get those items in an emergency case... Staff was kind but they didn't all speak very well english. It was sometimes complicated to be understood. Our overall experience was good and we recommend this place but it was below expectations compared to Accorhotels' standards.

No parental or management control resulted in a balcony with a beautiful view of the river and Laos being totally useless. I had been advised by the hotel to upgrade and pay extra for this! Same group arrived back at about 10pm with food and drinks from outside and set up at the pool under my window and in front of the sign which said : No food or drink allowed from outside. Next day, after driving to the Golden Triangle, I arrived back to find the pool filled with a different crowd of boys, not so noisy but filling the pool and making it useless for an elderly gentleman to take some exercise. I asked reception if a different lot had checked in but was told they were local and were allowed to use the pool every afternoon................. No butter for the toast on my first morning's breakfast and on the second there was lots of butter but they did not put out the cereals and milk out. Don't ask Why. This hotel could be fantastic so please work on it as the staff were all super friendly especially at the evening dinner terrace.
