This place is very good. It was great holiday in Chiang Mai. The best location that close to nature. It's authentic relaxing time with family. Very impressed here. Would love to go back again! I love it.
Unfortunately we arrived on a very rainy day, but wonderful porters ferried our bags to our room. Our standard rooms were in 4's in a house type setting with large open space in central area where seating and coffee and tea fixings were available. Large windows opened onto the grounds. Rooms contained all single beds, so our family of four had 2 rooms in one house. Appointments were adequate. One room's hot water was not working, but as we had another room to use it was not a problem. A/C, Fans, and space heater available to control room temperature. Found it a bit difficult to close windows at night when gibbons and other night sounds made sleep difficult. Speaking of local habitats...it is the rainy season and many in our group got leaches while just walking around the grounds. So come prepared with spray and spray even your shoes and consider stuffing your pants into your socks. The dinner buffet and breakfast buffet were both very good with the dinner buffet being the first in many days of travels to offer some western options which our children were happy to see. The Hmong performance after dinner was wonderful with numerous acts, but the favorite being the last one where we and our children were taught one of their favorite games involving large tops. Wifi only available in the lobby area. Special note...our son took ill the morning we were leaving and the staff was wonderful running for every request our guides asked to assist us...cold towels, blankets, water. If we returned we would definitely get a higher room level.
The nice location and beautiful view that close to nature. It's authentic relaxing time with friends. Also, we saw Hmong Traditional Performance that never seen before. Over all we're impressed here :)
I stayed here one night which was the only problem I had- not enough time there! Beautiful and peaceful location that provides all the amenities needed to relax and unwind. The cottages were quaint, clean and comfortable. The dinner buffet was plentiful and offered an amazing variety of food. The pool was perfect! What a gorgeous view to take in while relaxing in the water. I also enjoyed the evening show where local tribe members shared with us some traditions.
What we liked - *The location is stunning. The resort is set amongst small farmers' fields with beautiful mountains in the backdrop *The staff were friendly and helpful *Lovely clean swimming pool *The unusual, but traditionally Hmong bungalow layout which included a communal hearth/firepit in the centre *Simple but very tasty food which is very reasonably priced. The penang curry in particular was a hit with my husband and dad. The breakfast buffet was of good quality with great coffee *The performance of some traditional songs and activities by a group of Hmong tribes people was a nice little insight into a local culture *No TV in the rooms! :) What we don't like- *The rooms are a bit dark due to the dark varnish of a lot of the wood *No fridge in the room. This was only an issue for us because we were travelling with a baby and she still drinks a lot of milk each day. This resort seems to be popular on the tour group circuit but they tended to stay just one night, I think we were the only guests who stayed more than one night when we were there. We felt that by staying only one night (arriving late afternoon/early evening and checking out after breakfast the next morning) the tour groups definitely missed out on the essence of the resort. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hmong Hilltribe Lodge, I really can't stress enough how beautiful the scenery is, we very much hope to stay there again in the future.
Well, I would disagree with some reviewers arguing that one night is more than enough. We decided to sleep there two nights and we definitely do not regret it. It is just so fulfilling to finally take some time: time to walk in the fields around the hotel, walk in the nearby Hmong village, time to enjoy the nearby waterfalls (car required), time to discuss with the staff in the hotel, who were so kind, helpful & peaceful and cast a different light on the nature around us and the Hmong people. Our kids loved it, we too. We saw lots of groups dropping by at night, watching the show and leaving early in the morning. I believe they have missed the essence of a stay in Hmong Hilltribe Lodge. If in a hustle, well, yes, having wifi only in the common area, or not having the comfort of a 5* beach resort may be important to you and this hotel may not perfectly fit your needs. But if, like us, you are not in a hurry and are looking for a special - authentic time, this hotel is the rightful place to stay. We had a lovely time there.
Nice and friendly accomodation, good for relax but also as start to develop all the destinations which are recommend by Chang Mai tourist agencies, because most of them are next to Maerim. Local chief is very helpful and a good organizer in case of need. Hmong tribe shows original culture. Rooms are big but simple (without air condition) and clean. When we have been there, there has been only a few guests. That has been a pity, because it is a realy fine place outside of the general tourisme. We suppose that this belongs to a very bad organization within the Bangkok central office because they didn´t reach to organize our stay. So we had to go into contact with the lodge itself and feeled fine.
We stayed for just one night as part of our 5 day tour. It was a welcome break from travelling to finally have some quiet time, although it rained for a couple of hours, it was nice as it cooled us all down. The house we stayed in had 4 separate rooms each we 2 beds with shower and toilet room, the center of the house had a fire pit. Once the rain had stopped all types of animal noises could be heard across the hills. The staff were all friendly and in the evening there was a hill tribe dance show. Food good and local good.
We stayed here for one night as part of a tour. It was lovely. Quiet peaceful something a way from the hustle and bustle. Views from pool stunning. The BBQ in the evening was lovely. Drink a bit on the expensive side compared to other areas. The show that they put on during the BBQ was good. Very friendly staff.
Good experience as a one off. Literally the middle of no where so you can see all the stars ( this was the highlight for me) the bungalow cabin thing is ok not wildlife proof so you have all sorts in the room we were kept up all night by two lizards and all you hear is a horny frog outside. No wifi. Swimming pool is freezing. Food is average and the hill tribe show is disappointing.
