The reason for a very poor review is you can find another accomodation option with the same price but it is cleaner, new and a hotel with character. Basically, the hotel was an old building, took over by the hotel management and convert it into a hotel. The whole building speaks of renovation. This hotel lack maintenance and it lost its appeal. Carpets on the hallway towards the room is full of stain. Room veranda is full of cigarette butts and not enticing to go out and look out for the view of the city. Water pressure from the shower is very weak and the water distribution is broken. Bathtub is filthy and you will not date step into it. Staff at reception are not properly groomed with room slipper. I was never addressed by name even my information was retrieved from the system. As Chiang Mai is lovely, we do not want the holiday to be spoiled by a wrong hotel accomodation. We have shortened our stay and nestled ourself to a much cleaner and more presentable hotel which is just a walking distance from the old town. For visitors, you’ll definitely find a much better accomodation option, even cheaper near the old town. Unless this properly will look into its maintenance and revamp of their product then they could be an option for us travellers. But for now, it’s a bo.
We arrived mid-afternoon for a weekend away for my family. The booking was for a 2 bedroom suite & I expected to see a small room, BOY was I WRONG!!! the suite is HUGE, Lounge/dining/kitchen nis the size of most "large" rooms in other hotels on its own & the 2 bedrooms are enormous. Staff are friendly, courteous & attentive. have yet to find any reason for criticism
Our family of 6 was on a pilgrimage tour covering Thailand's cooler northeastern Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai during early December school vacation. We checked into Furama Chiang Mai which it claims to be a 4-star hotel but the regime of maintenance pertaining to its most spacious "suites" on the L9 appears to be an over-statement due to its badly leaking bathroom floor, basins and bathtub, not to mention its foggy windows, filled with birds' droppings and clinging house lizards etc., Indoor lightings are too dim and almost ghostly with plenty of dark unlit twilight corners for comfort. One of our family member could feel "kids jumping on her bed" during sleep and another elderly got awaken from sleep feeling someone tickling her sole during the death of the night even with all lights on after turndown..in another bigger newly renovated unit at the far end near the fire escape on L6. Long old windy carpeted corridors leading to our L6 room is even worse: too dimly lit to the extent of twilight states of patchy shadows and pitch darkness near the housekeeping lift lobby in gaping "black hole" ...particularly when one has to go back to the room alone for something during dinner in the L1 Lobby ! Only solace to commend: most of the service staff particularly those in the Lobby Restaurant next to the Heritage Bar are friendly, sincere and helpful albeit poor command of English and Chinese. Another spot to feel eerie day and night: try the L1 loos behind the main hall and lift lobby on L1 albeit its perfect cleanliness and state of maintenance...
We stayed for 5 nights here and found the hotel is just fine. Well ... we didn’t choose a luxurious hotel as we planned to spend whole day outside, so we found it’s perfect for us. The room was convenient although the shower room wasn’t in the best condition. I was fine with the amenities & bed comfort. Wifi was also pretty good. Location is not city center so you need to keep that in mind but we purposefully chose it cause we rent a bike, so we found the location is acceptable. It’s near the finest mall in CM - Maya (mainly for the food bazaar on floor 4! Good 40baht meals are few and far between in CM!) We couldn’t put 5* excellent rate cause we found the service was not that genuine & professional as per Furama International brand. Their level of English speaking was not up to the acceptable level. Also, what you see in the pictures isn’t quite what you get, especially the Pools which were far from nice ... just don’t expect too much if you don’t wanna be disappointed. Room & the hallway were so un-updated & absolutely need refurbishment but in fairness for the cost and the size of the room we consider it to be value for money and worth a visit.
I and my family go to place here. With i, this furama hotel is good, quite. Good price. Friendly staff, that made me feel at home. I will go come back here. If I come chiang mai in future. Thanks you furama hotel.
I think this is the worst hotel in Furama brand and the worst hotel in Thailand. Even a hostel don't make me feel better. Rooms and facilities are old, 2pools but when I stay, only one is using. The other one is pool party, so small. Front desk is terrible. Staff are rude, never seen rude Thai people until here. I want to refund first but my friend is tired so I have no choice. Definitely not come back
Won’t lie to you: this is not a new hotel. The building is several years old...but you won’t even notice that! The hotel is big, and even if that could be annoying, their team is so amazing that you will feel like home. Everything is clean, comfy, and the service is one of the fastest I’ve known, considering the size of the building and high occupancy of the hotel when I was there. Really good and fast room service, nice Buffet for breakfast, a good gym, rooftop pool to have a swim...and an AMAZING thai rooftop restaurant, perfect to introduce you to the most succulent local dishes with a stunning view. Front desk girls are the cutest and their executive suite is the biggest I’ve ever seen in my life. Deluxe rooms are perfect too.
This was my second time staying at the Furama the first was last year with my son we stayed in a superior room with mountain views which we just loved. This time I booked an executive suite but on arrival was disappointed in the two rooms I was shown as I was celebrating a very special occasion with my wife and my two children. I wanted that view and a room with a higher standard of class. I'm not one to be fussy or cause bother but as I travel very often, for this occasion the rooms shown were not going to be right. But the wounderful girl from front desk understood my requirements and found me a room that was beyond my expectations huge could not describe it was massive 2 bedroom suite 3 tvs full surround sound stereo dinning room 3 lounges and most of all a balcony with that view of the mountain. Yes I had to pay 1500thb per night on top of what I had already paid so not cheap but what a suite. The staff were fantastic after a little misunderstanding it was quickly resolved and everything went smooth. Had dinner upstairs in the rooftop resturant the food was great just like before with live band and great atmosphere. Breakfast was very good great selection and all the staff did a great job. For me this hotel is in a great location for getting around. As I hire a vehicle it has good parking and access to the main road. Yes I will agree with others that the maintenance could do with a lift but as It is avery large hotel I'm sure it is going on in stages. I do recommend this hotel but make sure you ask for a view of the mountain as it truly makes for a better experience as that is one of the real chalms of Chiang Mai. I love Chiang Mai definitely one of my favourite spots in Thailand. 😆happy journey
Was excellent foods and good views.. and they have classic music live sing on the stage too.. the musicians not so louder that good for appetite. . So great to be here and relaxed with my friends and family. Xxxxxxxxxx Xxxxccccccxxx Xxxxxxxxxx Chales We will look flowers to come back again.
When we first turned up to the hotel we were in awe with the sheer size of it. At a first glance it's very luxurious but as you stay a while you start to notice how much the hotel needs a bit of TLC. This revue is based upon value for money and not necessarily the hotel alone. Pros: Decent breakfast, huge clean room, clean pool, friendly staff, next to shopping mall, good value for money. Cons: The big pool was closed for maintenance which mean that everyone tried to cram upstairs where the pool is small and there are only a few sun loungers. The location isn't great unless you're going to the shopping centre. Very outdated decor and in dire need of a makeover. Television is very fuzzy and no English channels. Overall for what you pay it's still good value for money and would stay again. Small tip - "happy hour" doesn't mean BOGOF and watch your change in the rooftop bar.
