Bodhi Serene Chiang Mai4.0 out of 5.0

I have no complaints to the location since Bodhi Serene is very close to the Sunday Walking Street Market, and there are plenty of choices of good meals nearby. Staff here is friendly and helpful, and they always keep a smile. However, maybe since I booked the room in the old wing, except for the beddings, all are quite old and the TV was even out of order. In addition, the bathroom was full of mold, making me feel annoyed for over my three nights of stay. After I came back from my trip, I accidentally found that there are rooms available in new wing. Hopfelly the maintenance of rooms in old wing could also be upgraded.
We really enjoyed our stay at the bodhi. There are masses of places to eat and shop all around and it is very central. The rooms are really nice and the pool lovely. The only fault we could possibly find with it was some noisy construction going on next door but that was hardly their fault and looked temporary. Strongly recommend. The staff were fantastic and it really is a nice haven in the old city.
I must say that for the first hotel of our trip this was a great disappointment. We felt not welcomed at all when arriving. Our room was not ready and we were barely acknowledged on arrival - no smile no welcome and we were left waiting with no showing of the premises. Overall the staff seemed indifferent completely and borderline rude. The worst was the lady from the tourist desk. I asked her to book us a spa at the close by bamboo green ( great by the way) which recommends to call to book in advance. She in fact refuse to do it and told me to walk there! I told her again that we need to book in advance and she returns playing with a phone!! Anyway never again. I put two stars because the hotel is indeed very well located. Otherwise the rooms are just OK as well as breakfast nothing overcoming the poor hospitality.
In a bustling, touristy city, the Bodhi Serene offers a welcome respite. My wife and I recently stayed there with our two teenagers. We rented the family suite, which was like having our own apartment with hotel amenities. Breakfast offers a wide range of options and the pool was a pleasant place to relax. Inside tip, rent the hotel bicycles to tour old town temples on your own! Only significant downside: no good markets or convenience stores nearby. That's a tuk-tuk ride away or longish walk.
Enjoyed our room on the far side of the property. Breakfast was ok. Clean and quiet. Location close to plenty of food and markets. Ok for families. get on foot and explore the local area. you will love what you find
We stayed here for 5 nights, friendly and helpful staff. The Hotel is a great location and facilities are all good. Nice main pool and room clean and all the amenities you can want for. Only one comment would be the breakfast options is limited for vegetarian guests which is a surprise givens the wide choice throughout the City.
Great place to stay, very friendly staff and you walk out the front door and your'e on the street surrounded by temples, restuarants, massage places (all great) and close to night markets - they have a free shuttle.
We stayed in Bodhi Serene for five nights in July 2017. While the hotel is in a great location---in the old city, close to the Tha Phae gate---and the grounds are beautifully manicured, the rooms are lacking. They are outdated, noisy if you want to have AC on all the time and with the occasional bug. The wifi is hit or miss with periods in which it is working well and periods when you cannot connect to any of the six access points. We did not use the pool or the breakfast. They charged us 450 baht for a taxi to the airport at 5am, even though they advertise an airport shuttle on their website. Granted, it was very early in the morning, but, interestingly, their free airport shuttle was not available when we arrived at 2pm either. Finally, as a comparison, in Bangkok we stayed at another hotel from the Serene group, Silom Serene, which was much much better. Given the plethora of choices at the same or lower price in the old city, we would stay somewhere else next time.
There are many things to like about this hotel. The location is convenient. The staff is very helpful and best of all the manager did genuinely looked like she cared about the experience of her guests. The pool area is nice although there should be more sun chairs. The restaurant by the pool serves decent thai food and drinks and doesn't overcharge too much. Also, the rooms are very spacious with a supersize bath and bed. They may have had grander times but they are still in good condition and clean. Strangely they fill a bit empty with all this space and almost no storage, and quite dark as well. There must be a dozen or so switches scattered all around the room but the lights are dim. There were also things that made our stay less enjoyable than expected. The sound proofing is inexistent. Fortunately the hotel is in a quiet location and it was low season, so not too many guests. Lastly the bed was way too firm. It's common in Thailand to have somewhat firm beds, which I usually don't mind, but here it was really uncomfortable.
Very great hotel, located nicely in the center of Chiang Mai. Very helpful staff and friendly housekeeping. The food was OK, for the European part and the Thai part was amazing. I think I had the best pad Thai of my whole trip there.
