Gone downhill, owner doesn't care to fix a huge thing.... like the fireplace not working after the 1st of 3 note stay, besides lied about a chemical odor that resulted in our getting headaches and migraines.... Just horribe... no compensation, paid TOP DOLLAR FOR 3 NITES. We were repeat guests x6yrs....
Loved staying and the Innisfree B&B during our recent visit to Cashiers. Rooms are private, well kept and spacious. Home cooked breakfast is brought to your room each morning. Henry and Claire are fabulous hosts. Loved the evening boat ride on the Lake.
Mu husband and I stayed in the Elizabeth Barret suite at the Innisfree Bed and Breakfast for 3 glorious days. The hosts Henry and Clare are two of the most delightful and interesting people you will ever meet. The accomodations were delightful, with our room being filled with an assortment of antiques and plenty of reading material. The grounds are lovely, filled with flowers and trees and birds of all sorts including a koi pond. For an extra cost, you can take a pontoon boat cruise on Lake Glenville, the highest lake east of the Mississippi. Clare provides champagne and other beverages and plenty of appetizers. Clare was a wonderful guide to local shopping, dining, hiking and water fall locations. Our breakfast was brought to our suite each morning with plates will with everything from quiche to baked French toast to various fresh fruits and assorted breakfast meats. It was so nice to sit quietly and enjoy the sumptuous meal with coffee made right in the room. We had a delightful covered furnished balcony, and the bath include a large shower and huge spa tub. We would both highly recommend a stay at the marvelous property and plan to return there often. It is truly an escape from the hectic pace we normally live, providing a place of peace and quiet.
We stayed for 4 nights in the Cambridge room which is a lovely room with its own entrance and car parking. The inn is lovely full of beautiful furniture and art work etc and some whimsical things as well. If you stay in the main house then breakfast is a communal event in a gorgeous octagonal room which is a great way to have a chat with fellow guests. There is not a choice for breakfast and it is very southern but nicely prepared and presented French Toast casserole was really to our taste but we could appreciate the concept and it was made very well just a bit sweet for our taste. The champagne cruise on the lake is well worth doing as the lake is very pretty especially in its fall colours. Little niggles are that the wifi access is not very good and the Cambridge room only has a shower which is very tight - you cannot set it running to warm up and then get in you have to get in and squish up to the wall and wait for it to warm up plus there are no coffee making facilities in the main house which I missed a lot.. Henry and Clare the owners are lovely and make you feel very welcome providing those nice touches e.g. sherry is placed out on an evening for you to enjoy and of course the cheese and wine/beer every late afternoon is great. I must mention Jolyn who is a lovely and helpful person. All in all a very relaxing and enjoyable stay which is great for couples.
We read about the INN from a AAA magazine article and along with a AAA 4 diamond rating we booked it. First of all the cancellation policy is very strict. We booked 2 nights in the featured LORD TENNYSON suite. After 24 hours from the reservation date you are billed for 1 night .Then 30 days out you are billed for the balance, so you basically are prepaid. The INN keepers are attentive and want you to enjoy your stay. The suite during season ran for $365 a night, including breakfast. It is in our opinion in need of a update . The furniture is large and heavy and there is very little space to put things in drawers. It is clean and the staff is responsive to anything you need. Access is up a steep stairway [no elevator] that with bags could be a challenge. The setting is loverly. Afternoon complimentary wine and beer gatherings were nice. My only observation is the rate seems high. I would rate the Inn 3 1/2 diamonds
Just got home from a three night stay in the Cambridge Room. Lovely, clean and cozy room. Innkeepers and concierge very helpful in suggesting restaurants, waterfalls and towns to explore. The champagne boat tour of the lake was well worth the time and extra few bucks. The only thing that went a little bit sideways on us was fulfilling some dietary restrictions. In our initial online reservation we mentioned them, the innkeepers confirmed them upon our arrival but when breakfast came around they failed to be fulfilled. They improvised very well to recover..... In the grand scheme of things, the meal thing was a very minor glitch in an otherwise fabulous stay.
We stayed in the Emily Bronte suite. The room was very nicely decorated and very comfortable. Breakfast, prepared by Nayeli, was delicious. The grounds are beautiful and the champagne tour of Lake Glenville, with Captain Henry and First Mate Claire was enjoyable and informative. I'd recommend Innisfree as a couples destination wholeheartedly.
My wife and I just returned from a three night stay in the Robert Browning suite in the garden house. *The second we entered our room upon arrival we were overwhelmed by an unbearable "musty' odor that made the room almost impossible to stay in. The odor permeated the air, the carpet , the drapes, the furniture, the linens.. everything. It was as if the room was once a very damp basement that had been 'finished' to make it a suite. The silverfish in the bathroom didn't mind the odor apparently though. We had to keep the A/C window units on full blast and the ceiling fans running on high the whole time to make it bearable. * The design of the suite is very strange. In the kitchen, you couldn't open the dishwasher door without it bumping into the handle on the oven door, so you had to open the oven to open the dishwasher. There were other oddities in design that really didn't bother us but sort of made us wonder what the plan was for the suite.... *Two of the three breakfasts we had were not good because the baked items were WAY underdone,, the coffee cake was like dough as were the biscuits. *Also, if you have ATT wireless, you are totally cut off from the world. No service until you drive halfway to Cashiers (not the landlord's fault). * "By the Lake is a bit misleading.. its not "lake side" .. its really about '3 rows back" and not every room has a view and its about a 10 minute hike to the lake. *We will say that Clare and Henry are extremely nice folks always wanting to help, and the breakfast was served on time each morning and housekeeping was pretty good, and the grounds are spectacular.
Very peaceful and beautiful surroundings. We stayed in the Emily Bronte room which had a balcony overlooking the grounds and mountains. The owners - Henry and Clare - are very warm and interesting and made us feel so comfortable. Suman welcomed us along with Clare when we arrived - offering cookies and a beverage. Cashiers is close for shopping and dining. Clare is knowledgeable about hiking trails and even took me along on one of her hikes with Suman. Breakfasts on the balcony were served promptly around 9 am and were delish! This is a wonderful mountain getaway where peace and tranquility abound!
We had a wonderful 3-day stay here, after 4 days in Asheville. The Innisfree reminded me of B & B's we have visited in England. It is an enclave of beautiful cottages on a gorgeous property overlooking Lake Glenville, "the highest lake east of the Rockies" (3500 ft above sea level). The property is on a hillside, with flower gardens, winding paths, and fountains. There are bird feeders everywhere, and we loved watching the hummingbirds at the feeders on the verandah of the main house, and the cardinal chirping in the tree below our balcony every morning. Henry and Claire are warm and charming hosts, who made us feel more welcome than any of our relatives ever have. They graciously answered any questions we had about the region. They hosted a "hospitality hour" for their guests on their verandah on the first and third nights of our visit, and a "champagne cruise" of the lake on their pontoon boat on Saturday evening. Henry and Clare told us great stories about the history of the area, and life on the lake in general. Innisfree owns a small stretch of beach with a dock on the lake, about a 3 minute walk from the building where we stayed in the Lord Tennyson Suite. From the beach we launched the kayaks we took out for a two-hour paddle down to the waterfall & back, and from the dock we boarded the boat for the cruise. Our suite was very large with a king sized bed, a very large bathroom with a huge tub, a shower, a toilet closet and a fireplace that went thru to the sleeping area. We had two eating areas: a little wicker table on the balcony, and a table in an alcove overlooking the property. The room has a wet bar with a small fridge, and a Keurig with everything else needed for coffee or tea. A delicious, hearty (don't bring your weight watchers points chart!) is delivered every morning about 9 a.m. Other reviewers complained about wi-fi and or cellular coverage---we had no difficulties in that regard. The Olympics were going on during our visit, and we watched whatever we wanted to on the up-to-date satellite TV in our room. We very much enjoyed the visit.
