It was 4 years since our last stay but since then the hotel has been nicely redecorated. My French is very basic but we always feel welcome here. Highlight of the stay is the evening meal which we have always found to be very good and great value for money. Our room had been completely made over, was very modern. We use this as our first stop on a visit to France and once again we were more than happy with our stay.
Although the room looked a little tired, and was compact it had everything we needed To find the hotel, follow the signs which are found in the village centre and lead to the auberge. I could not find the hotel on my map nor GPS There may be a problem staying here if someone had mobility issues as I didn't see any bedrooms on the ground floor and there was no lift The welcome was polite and friendly The breakfast was traditionally French (thankfully) and plenteous The dinner was worth the detour that we may to stay here - the specials were worth taking a punt on (as we were not sure what 2 of them were) If you don't speak French you may struggle as none of the staff appeared to speak English (which wasn't a problem for us) We would return if traveling this way again
Used the hotel as an overnight stay from Brittany. The location is very good, only 10km from motorway. However the place seemed dated, with furniture falling apart. This was a big contrast to what the web page was promising.
We used this on our way down to SW France ,our usual hotel a bit further north was full we found this suited our needs admirably. Good car parking for car, trailer and dogs. Ice dog walks in the evening. Room was clean and comfortable and the restaurant was very good. We got away early in the morning after a good breakfast for our long trip south. We will use this logison our return at the end of the summer.
Picked this hotel due to its closeness to the motorway. Very easy to find due to signposts etc. Arrived late but was warmly welcomed. Thus is small unpretentious, old style establishment which offers a honest and comfortable stay. The rooms were very clean and the breakfast simple but of good quality.
Stopped overnight on way to Charente maritime from Calais, just making the long journey pleasantly shorter the next day. Good characterful place, welcoming, clean, hot water, wifi. Restaurant was delicious, the cheese and dessert trollies are amazing! Totally unexpected and a real find. Beds were a touch hard for us, but each to their own. Great value overnight stay.
Came here on my motorbike on the way back to Calais. Picardy has a lot to offer, and this small auberge is a great base - and has a very competent kitchen as a bonus. Very comfortable, clean room, lovely, friendly service, in a very rural location that is close to Abbeville. Highly recommended.
As a place for a stop over to the ferry or for a holiday in the Somme, I cannot find a better place to stay. Friendly and helpful staff, comfortable rooms, excellent service in the restaurant, delicious food, newly refurbished décor. Cannot wait to return!
Stayed here during a cycle trip from London to Paris. The hotel itself is a little dated and needs a bit of attention in places. However, the rooms were clean and comfortable and the location surrounding the hotel is beautiful. The hotel has a restaurant on-site, which was staffed by 1 very busy waiter. Service therefore was slow, but the waiter was excellent - very helpful and had a good sense of humour. I'd suggest attempting to speak French as this will endear you to him. The main courses were all pretty good, but the dessert trolley was excellent. This was followed by the Cheese Trolley which was by far the biggest I have ever seen. And it was unlimited! I have never eaten so much cheese in my life, but it was all excellent! Overall the hotel felt like it needed more staff to make the guests feel more attended to, but this is only a minor complaint. You must try the restaurant, and don't forget to save room for the cheese!
We stayed at the Auberge Picarde on our way back to the UK from our house in Charente Maritime. The earlier reports about the food encouraged us and we wanted to stay somewhere other than our usual Campanile stop! We arrived at the same time as a coach tour however and this held us up for about 30 minutes whilst the people on the coach were checked in. Our room was very nice and clean, the bathroom huge with a big corner bath but the toilet was in a tiny "cupboard" area next to the bed. I am just grateful we are not large people or we would not have been able to use the toilet!! We went into dinner and were quickly seated (the coach party were already seated so we chose a table at the other end of the room). The 3 menus we were offered seemed very good and we chose the 26 € menu, starter, main course and dessert. The maison bouche was to me the highlight of our meal! It was a mousse made with salmon and had samphire on top. Delicious!! I had chosen the cassolette of prawns & vegetables, sadly the prawns were overcooked but the sauce and vegetables were lovely. My husband had salmon with aubergine cavier, this was really nice. For main hubby went for a white fish and vegetables and I opted for chicken that was stuffed with pate (not sure exactly how it was called). Both meals were very nice although mine was very heavy with Jerusalem artichokes which spoilt it for me. The French beans were beautiful though. We were quite full by this time, but both chose from the dessert cart. I had the banana and raisin clafoutis and hubby had the creme caramel. Both were very delicious. Neither of us had a good nights sleep as the beds were very hard and the only pillows were small. square, hard and very uncomfortable. Breakfast was a very noisy affair as the coach party were all seated. Not the best breakfast I have had at a French hotel but adequate.
