This the second time we stayed at this property. First time was in 2012 and it was amazing. The service was unbelievable with the hotel staff even remembering my little kids names and always asking how things were and whether there as anything they could do to make our stay a little better. This time however there was little to none of that. The entire main wing of the hotel is under renovation so they are not at their original capacity. The main lobby shows considerable wear and age and the service just wasn't at the same level as it used to be. What has suffered greatly is the breakfast buffet. It used to be an unbelievable spread and in 2012 I would have given it a 8.5/10. During this trip I would be hard pressed to give it more than 5.5 both due to taste, selection and availability. All said and done the villas and cottages still seem very good and the restaurants are good. We stayed in a villa and it was very clean and the staff were friendly enough but not like before where most of the folks remembered your name.

This is the first time I have stayed at Taj hotel and if I have a choice NEVER again. The hotel is old, falling down and is downright a disgrace to the Taj name. I have thought the Taj name was associated with quality, elegance and first quality Indian. This place is a disgrace and I really do no like staying here The staff are nice though but need some training as they don't know a difference between a red and white wine Won't come back here..

Stayed here with my family and friends for two days what a joyful days.unforgettable cycle riding with my wife, enjoyed the evening in a pool with my son, excellent recreation room enjoyed with my friends and kids, coming to the food extensive breakfast buffet and hospitable staff..Over all an excellent stay ...Will be back soon

The hotel is a destination in itself. That apart, the Mahabalipuram temple and the rock face depicting Arjuna's penance etc. apart from the proximity to the Mutukkadu boating complex and Dakshina Chitra make this THE place to stay if you want to visit Mahabalipuram and have about 2-3 days to spend. If you don't mind spending a little more, please do avail of the various services this property has to offer and you may consider not spending much time at the various places mentioned earlier (very beautiful places but very crowded) and spend most of your time safely within the confines of the property.

The fantastic part of this resort is the unfettered view of the beach from all points of the hotel. Unlike other seaside resorts, one can access the beach from multiple points. The prime cottages/villas have a clear view of the sea and its as close to a private beach as possible. The property is 45 acres with most of the facilities in the periphery. Therefore one has vast open lawns with beautiful palm trees and grass. There is a block of recently renovated rooms which are modern and good. While the cottages have a terrific view, a private balcony with chairs, a swing and hammocks , the interiors are very 80s. The staff of the hotel are polite, efficient and smart. We played Table tennis, Badminton, tennis and even rode the bikes around the property. The pool is large although I would have preferred it to be cleaner. The JIVA spa is excellent and has very good therapists. Please carry mosquito repellents for they will bite you everywhere in the resort. They kept stinging me during my massage. We ate dinner at the Bayview and loved the cuisine and listening to John from Darjeeling playing the blues. I found the breakfast to be lacking by Taj standards. We enjoyed the new year's gala dinner but I found the quality of alcohol to be limiting which was a blessing since I heralded in the new year sober and healthy :) Thank you for a lovely stay and we will be back !

So, this was a work-related conference for us . . The Hotel facilities looked a little tired BUT were well maintained and enthusiastically managed - nothing like a hospitality team imbued with enthusiasm - the will do anything to assist . . Super food, wonderful beach access and a great pool too Plenty of walking trails so you can stretch your legs At night, the paths are nicely lit so you won't get lost I'm keen to return with my Family, hence the '4 with an option to a 5' rating . . Thanks and best wishes

Location: South of Chennai on ECR. How to reach: By air / rail / bus (through Chennai). We went from Bangalore by road in our SUV, on the excellent Chennai highway (via Hosur-Vellore-Kanchipuram). One can cover this distance in five and half hours. A nice beach resort with acres of land inside - with nice deluxe rooms, cottages & Villas etc. Lush green lawns, private beach, various indoor, outdoor and beach activities. Our family enjoyed the resort for three days. We are happy to get an upgrade of room - after the upgrade we could say that even the deluxe rooms are equally good with huge balcony, big size room except the sea view. On the other side Cottage and Villa have sea view, a small lawn, one swing ... but the size of room is not appears to be very big. Restaurants & Food: There are three restaurants we tried all the three. The night time dining in bay view and upper deck will be a different experience with sea waves making nice sound with nice breeze. If someone is fond of seafood they will love it. However we enjoyed more of seagull restaurant, which serves nice Indian cuisine also have an option of multi-cuisine dishes. Overall - a nice destination to hang around with friends and family. Best time to visit this area is Nov to Feb.

First off, this hotel may still be better than most other similar category hotels out there but compared to other Taj properties it was very disappointing. I am a Taj loyalist and have come to expect certain standards of service and delivery from Taj and sad to say that this particular hotel did not meet those standards. When we checked in, some of the ceiling lights were not working and they were unable to set it right till we checked out. The bathroom faucet was leaking water which they set right. The to remote was not working. They changed the remote twice and both times some of the buttons were not working. The housekeeping was not up to the mark with dustbins not being cleared. But the most disappointing experience was the restaurant called seagull which is pretty much the only restaurant that serves vegetarian food. While the food quality was good, the service was terrible. Chaotic environment, fumbling confused apathetic staff. We had no choice and had to keep going back to this restaurant and every single time, our orders were mixed up or not delivered on time. Maybe the reason is that the hotel is undergoing renovations and they are in already rivers of shifting their kitchens but then that's not the guests problem who are still paying standard rates for the hotel. Seems like a property specific issue but one that Taj needs to fix quickly. Also left messages to speak to the general manager but never got a call back

We are staying at Fisherman’s Cove for 4 nights. Prior to arriving we were aware of the building work but did not think it would be 24 hours. There is no where to relax in the evening as you can hear the banging in the bar. The hotel lacks any sort of ambience and is very disorienting. It is always easy to find staff when need d as reception is far away from the rooms Despite the work going on there are no deals for your inconvenience. Taj how about special deals for treatments and drinks. Staff are very slow and as the kitchen is not near the pool waited 30 minutes for fries! The Pina colada was terrible. There is no apology for slow service. Reception check was good but there is no warmth. I did not see the manager during my stay. We are at the Fish restaurant and the food was good. Breakfast was good and the Sous Chef Tapan Sahil was excellent and approachable. Taj get your act together and improve the service as you cannot rely on your old reputation. We have had stayed at many Taj hotels and this has been our worst experience.

We stayed at the Fisherman's Cove in October for 1 Night as part of a Family vacation. While we were satisfied with the Service, Food, Facilities and Ambience, we were quite disappointed with the Room quality which seems to be deteriorating very badly. We were given a Garden view Room, whereas the only view we got was of a Terrace with some Flower pots. The Room was very basic and the Roof was leaking when it started raining in the night. Not expected from a Taj property!! However, the Kids were delighted with the Indoor Games and the Pool, so that kind of made up for the poor Rooms. Hope the Taj lives up to it's reputation and provides the best in all departments for it's future guests.
