Kempinski Hotel Chengdu5.0 out of 5.0

We spent 5 nights here and had a wedding ceremony on Stern Terrace. Right from when we arrived the service was exceptional. The room was nicely decorated and very spacious. The only issue we had was the air conditioning not working very well but they offered to move us to a different room or give us a fan as well. We had unpacked and didn't want to move so the fan worked just fine.
OK, it is a mixed feeling when writing this review. My overall rate is 3. First of all, the room was tired and when I say tired I mean everything should be renovated. Facilities were out of date and apparently lacked maintenance. Breakfast has never been attractive and this time it simply became worse. Service was not good as before and nobody took care of us for long time and choices of dishes were not so many. Fortunately pools were OK. There are in fact many alternatives in Chengdu and it would be more and more difficult for Kempinski to maintain its market share if rooms and service remain no change.
I have been at Kempinski Hotel in Chengdu for few days, and I liked it. The Hotel is beautiful, very cleaned. The breakfast room is incredible, it gives you the chance to taste different varities of food, the quality is excellent. The rooms are beautiful as well, very confortable beds, the bathroom super accessorized with bath, shower and any sort of free gifts. The materials of construction are precious, very nice. The staff of the hotel is very kind and available to help you for anything. I suggest this hotel to anyone who wants to feel relaxed after a working day.
Hotel is about 20 mins from Airport. It takes not more than 40RMB from airport to this hotel. Staffs are all very polite and room is very clean. Breakfast was good with some dish option. 7 Mins walk to the nearest convinience store "Wowo". The down part is that this hotel is not walking distance to tourist area. You need to take taxi to go to the center of the city. If you are pkay with that, than this Hotel is fine for you
The service was good, the concierge helped me to make arrangements for my day visit and I could have lunch in the restaurant even they were closed, they made an exception. The only thing I didn’t like it was that my room was facing the street and it was very loud, I double checked the windows were closed but seems is not sound proof. The furniture and decor seems very outdated but the rest was fine.
Had a one night stopover in Chengdu . Arrived around 11pm from airport which is about 20 minutes drive at this time of the day . I was assigned a room on high floor . Upon entering room I realised one window was left open . Other than that the room is good .
Modern hotel, great bar to the side with an outdoor BBQ and large bar area. Nice breakfast. Overall fine for a business trip. Rooms did suffer slightly due to road noise. A pair of foam ear plugs should be in every travellers bag anyway unless you're a heavy sleeper.
Traffic noise coming through the closed glass windows turned to be a major issue and turned our night sleep into a nightmare. I normally sleep well and while on business trips I spend many nights in hotels including airports hotels where you find high quality noise proof windows. Unfortunately, the Kempinski in Chengdu lacks this quality. When on business trip , one should expect good sleeping quality. As for service , staff was ok except for one event. We ordered room service at about 2300. While the service was prompt , the hotel employee who brought our food returned after one hour and rang the bell claiming that I signed the bill not in the appropriate signature line.... The hotel management should alert their staff that disturbing guests around midnight without invitation is improper, to say the least... Other issues: Breakfast- very good. Front desk: Attentive. Leisure facilities: very good. Rooms: to be renovated. Conclusion: Chose this hotel after its future renovation and installation of noise proof windows.
I stayed at the Kempinski Hotel in Chengdu in March for a business conference and am frustrated that I am still getting questions sent regarding my booking. I booked my stay through booking.com but somehow the system reflected I did not check-in. English standard of the front desk staff is a little poor and I was assured my check-in/out went through successfully and fully paid. Overall furnishings in the room were a little dated and old but nonetheless clean. While the location of the hotel is very near the Shuangliu International Airport, the hotel was just next to the highway so it was very noisy. Even past 10pm you could still hear construction and the sounds of traffic was appalling loud sitting in the ballroom for conference. The hotel would probably best cater to the business crowd who are only staying for a few nights and with no need to go to the city centre which is some distance away. It was disappointing to come away with such a bad impression for such a brand name European hotel with a long history.
I forgot a small bag in the room when I left the hotel, when I called 1-2 hours later, the front desk told me that the bag was no longer there, but I was sure that I have left the bag there, when I was leaving, the hotel staff was clearing the rooms in the same floor, obviously , The hotel staff stole my bag.
