Eastern Quebec is one of Canada s national treasures. Not far from Montreal, it is home to some of the most diverse wildlife and pristine landscapes in the Eastern Atlantic. Sept-Iles lies near the mouth of the St. Lawrence and serves as a gateway to Quebec s interior.
The area is home to the Innu nation who have welcomed trappers, miners and lumberjacks to Sept through the years. The town is a hub for indigenous culture, and you can experience a wide variety of crafts and performances in town. The Musee Regional de la Cote-Nord tells the story of the area and offers local items for sale. Sept specializes in outdoor activities and local companies offer every type of fishing and hunting excursion imaginable. In the winter, you can ski or snowmobile right outside your door, or you can head to Parc Holliday to experience their groomed tracks and sports facilities.
When you fly to Sept Iles Airport, you will land on Boulevard Laure east of the park. Connections to Quebec s North Shore and Labrador Railway are available in town. The gulf has a moderating influence on the town s weather with summers in the mid-60s Fahrenheit, while winter lows can dip below 0 degrees. Many cruise ships come to town during the summer months.
