The Santa Barbara Airport (601 Firestone Road, Santa Barbara) is the primary airport serving the greater Santa Barbara area. The airport is located just 10 miles west of downtown Santa Barbara, with easy access into the city via US-101. Five domestic airlines provide daily scheduled service: Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Frontier, United, and U.S. Airways. Cities served include Denver, Los Angeles, Phoenix, San Francisco, and Seattle.
Once you arrive at the airport, you�ll find plenty of ground transportation options to take you to your final destination. Budget, Enterprise, Hertz, National, Avis, and Alamo have car-rental facilities right at the airport. Thrifty has a facility near the airport accessible by its free shuttle. Several taxi companies offer transportation into the city for roughly $28, and you can find available taxis right outside of the baggage claim area. Road Runner (805-389-8196) offers door-to-door shuttle service throughout Ventura County, and you can alternatively hop on a Metropolitan Transit District public bus for $1.75.

Winter months are the coolest, with temperatures ranging from the low 40s to the mid-60s Fahrenheit, so be sure to pack a jacket if you plan to visit between November and March. Summers are balmy, with temperatures averaging from the high 50s to the mid-70s.. Your best bet is to pack lightweight clothes that you can layer to accommodate any cool nights if you plan to visit between June and September. The summer is the best time to visit Santa Barbara as it offers warm days, cool nights, and almost no precipitation.
