All flights to Mallorca Island land at Palma de Mallorca Airport. It's also referred to as Son Sant Joan Airport and is located about 7 miles southeast of Palma, the island's capital. Nearly 23 million people pass through the airport's gates every year. The airport plans to increase capacity even further in order to meet customer demand. Airlines like Aer Lingus and Neo provide service to and from destinations like Bologna, London and Morocco. The Empresa Municipal de Transports (EMT) provides public transportation from the airport to the center of town. The buses leave four times an hour between 6:15 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. The bus stops are located outside of the Arrivals building. There are also express buses available. The fare is €2, or about $2.50. You can also catch a taxi near the arrivals building. A ride into town will take about 20 minutes and cost you €15, or about $18.
