I travel approximately one week per month for business. Staff was friendly enough. Hotel was clean enough. But it’s not up to IHG standards relative to other properties. For example: The televisions didn’t have a guide channel nor an accurate printed guide. The pool and hot tub were open but the temperatures were way cooler than any others I’ve experienced. I asked staff if they could turn up the hot tub and was simply advised that they couldn’t. The walls just seemed thin compared to other hotels in this price range. Our neighbors were not being overly rambunctious, but we could hear their normal conversations. I am not a pretentious traveler. Most of the time I stay in more budget friendly hotels. And if this stay was closer to their prices it would be fine. But when I decide to “splurge” a bit and pay $160 per night; I expect that I’m paying for an upgraded experience. In this case I’d been on the road for 8 hours in snowy/icy weather. The idea of relaxing in the hot tub for an hour or so before bed just spoke to me. Most every other Holiday Inn Express’ hot tubs are set around 102 degrees and this one was at 98, yes I had a digital thermometer in my truck and tested it. I know this may seem petty, but I could have booked the Days Inn across the street for $80. I paid double because I expected the same experience I’ve had at hundreds of other IHG properties. Unfortunately this location just didn’t deliver.
