Lying off the coast of South Carolina, Hilton Head Island is a golf lover’s paradise, with dozens of courses at your disposal.
The island was one of the first eco-planned destinations in the US, with strict laws in place about how the resorts should blend in with their natural surroundings. Discover lush nature reserves, white beaches and endless miles of fairways, or take to the water to mingle with the thousands of dolphins that live off the coast.
Due to its popularity with golfers, people visit the island throughout the year, with the comfortable temperatures of spring making it especially popular at this time.
During the summer vacation period, families flock to the island to enjoy the choice of beaches and array of family friendly activities. It can get a little busy, with traffic jams becoming more common, so book flights and accommodation early for summer breaks.
Even in the winter, the exceptional golfing means very few of the restaurants close up shop for the season these days. There will be better deals on flights and hotel rooms from November through to March.
