Fly to Gustavus
When you fly to Gustavus, you are entering an Alaskan city that is based on commercial fishing and tourism. The city is in the Hoonah-Angoon Census Area and is divided by the Salmon River. The spectacular Glacier Bay National Park, which offers outdoor activities such as camping and hiking, is nearby.
Glacier Bay Sea Kayaks Day Tours offers visitors the chance to travel through Bartlett Cove and up to Glacier Bay on a guided kayak tour. Visitors can often catch sight of porpoises, sea lions, bears and even whales during their time here. Boats are equipped with hydrophones, which allow you to hear the unique sounds whales make to communicate. For those fond of the outdoors, grab your tent and sleeping bag and head to Seaside Tent Campground. This campground is surrounded by the mountains and offers campers hot showers, clean bathrooms, a fire pit and a taste of the Alaskan wilderness.
