Busuanga is perhaps best known as the site of a World War II battle in Coron Bay. The nearby island of Calauit is another major attraction. This island is a gamer preserve stocked with giraffes, zebras and antelopes to recreate the African savannah in the South Pacific. Ferry excursions to Calauit and diving expeditions to the sunken navy ship can both be arranged in the town of Coron, the largest settlement on the island.

A local shuttle van can take you from the airport to the town of Coron, and motorcycles are available to rent. Busuanga has a tropical climate with a long rainy season and a short dry season.
