When you fly to Bintulu you'll be welcomed into a tropical environment, situated along the mouth of the Kemena River where it meets the Pacific Ocean. Similajau National Park is one of the largest parks in Bintulu. At Similajau National Park, you can sunbathe on Golden Beach or try your luck at rafting on the Selunsur Rapid. The park also features rare and endangered species including gibbons, long-tailed macaques and banded lemurs. Visitors can see turtles nesting at Turtle Beach and explore the naturally heated pool at Sebubong Pool. After a busy day outdoors, the Park City Shopping Mall offers an air conditioned place to do some shopping or have a bite to eat.
The best way to get into Bintulu is through Bintulu Airport (BTU). The city has fairly consistent weather with July temperatures hovering around 89 degrees Fahrenheit and January temperatures of about 85 degrees. Consider visiting during the annual Bintulu Kite Festival, which is held in September. The festival takes place along Golden beach and includes food, cold drinks and live music.
