Not exactly waterfront....
....but still recommended. Great place to basecamp out of while doing Lake Norman activities. Easy access to shopping and other groceries. Great deck with a grill and large hot tub that had a phenomenal view of the neighbor's RV. If you have a bunch of kids the bunk bed room over the garage is great. Seeing the lake takes a little walk ("follow the path") with some chairs for seating to view the sunset, and you can see the lake from the front porch. I was able to anchor a jet ski a few feet off the dock , but takes some wading through a muddy bottom to get to it. I'm hard pressed to imagine how one would operate a pontoon boat off said dock, except at exceptionally high water levels. The lake was 2 feet below full pond while we were there and it was knee deep at the end of the dock.

Great place — just not on the water
The place is really cute and we had a great time there. The owner communicates really well and we had everything we need.
The part I just can’t get over is pulling up to the house and realizing that while there is access through a well identified path to the lake, it isn’t a house on the lake. It may be me and I didn’t read the description close enough — especially the name of the place (Follow the Path), but we were expecting a deck that overlooked beautiful lake Norman. The pictures show that it is on the lake, and VRBO app filter says this is a house on the lake, but the view out the back deck is someone else’s house. The house could use a power wash as there are a lot of cobwebs all over the exterior which is a little scary for kids.
While that view issue was a let down, the house would be great for a large group. There is a good view from the front porch of the lake across the street that may get blocked in the future by some home construction happening.
I want to be clear, we would come back knowing what we were getting as it is a great location that blends solitude and access to grocery stores and restaurants only minutes away. They provide super fun kayaks to take down the path to the small dock. The hot tub is a huge plus, and the bunk set up in the room above garage is cool. The place legitimately can sleep 10-12 people comfortably.

Great for kids!
We enjoyed having a bunk room and game room for the kids. And the fact that it was on their own side of the house, away from the adult bedrooms, made it even better!
