I stayed here for 3 nights waiting to go down to Yangshou via train. The service is great, hotelrooms are clean and the location is superb. I don´t know why you would want to stay in Changsha for more than a couple of days, but if you do, i guess this hotel is a good base!
I don't normally like chain hotels, but there are few other options in Changsha. That said, I really liked this place. The bed was amazingly comfortable (especially after typically firm Chinese beds), the bath room was large with a bath and shower, good quality toiletries, clean, and good quality room service. The hotel is also right on a metro and very close to nightlife and shopping options.
As we approach the hotel by taxi the building looked a little tired and the exterior was quite dirty so we expected the hotel to be a bit run down. Wrong. The interior was tastefully done although some of the wall paper in the room was starting to peel. Now, we know that good taste is not a strong suit for designers in this part of the word but the Lobby Bar carpet, chairs and wallpaper were a hideous clash of colour and patterns. Don't let this put you off... the bar staff were great, the wine and beer were cold and the prices were reasonable for a 5 star hotel. Other than these couple of minor points the hotel is faultless. The laundry did a great job but for China the cost was way too high relative to what we have experienced in other 5 star hotels in China. 눇 The hotel is as close to perfect (for us) as we were able to find in 3 months of traveling around China. Where to start.... The hotel is located within a 15 minute walk to the river but why walk when there is a Metro right at the hotel and on a Junction of Line 1 and Line 2. There are shopping Malls adjacent, below and down the street from the hotel and plenty of restaurants nearby. Staff on reception were thorough and very polite. The bell hop managed all our big luggage and refused to let us help. His English (as was most of the staff) was excellent. The room was a good size, the bathroom all worked well although the sink area was just adequate for size. The room and bathroom were cleaned perfectly. The little extras such as canapes left in the evening and the free mini bar access to Coke & Sprite and water were appreciated. Hanging space, work desk and storage space were perfect. Adequate power outlets were in the right places. Internet was the fastest and most reliable that we have found in China so far. Lighting was very good and easy to manage. Air conditioning was also very good and easy to use. The bed was wonderful (for Western tastes) as it was big, soft, great linen and lovely pillows. The black out curtains allowed us to sleep late. The room carpet was probably not to my taste but functional and comfortable. The furnishings were clean, in good order and luxurious. We ate in the restaurant and the food was a good mix of Asian styles (after all it was a Chinese Restaurant). The food was good and reasonably priced. As were the drinks. We didn't try the other two restaurants (one is a buffet). Now for the good bits... The breakfast was perfect. The egg chef even made me poached eggs to my (very strict) requirements. The coffee was a pretty ordinary machine job but still better than pre stewed coffee that seems to be the norm in China. The breakfast staff were friendly and very efficient.
Our initial impression was good. Upon reaching the hotel, the porter took our luggage at the door and directed us to the reception desk. The porter also waited for us and brought our luggages up to the rooms. However things turn downwards from there. The receptionist who checked us in displayed a lukewarm attitude and she seems uninterested. Rooms were okay, they were dated but contained all the basic ammenities. Unfortunately, we had an unpleasant experience checking out. We asked the receptionist to help us call a cab. We then proceeded to sit down at the seats right in front of the receptionist desk to wait. After waiting for 15mins+, we thought something was amiss and went to enquire about our cab. The receptionist then inform us that our cab was already waiting at the hotel entrance (*he lack the common sense to inform us when we were sitting right in front of him?). We then rushed to the entrance which was on the other side of the hotel. There wasn't any cab waiting so we had to walk to the main road in the rain towing our luggages to flag down passing cabs. Initially, we were planning to stay another night here after we return from Zhangjiajie. We have cancelled the room here and moved to another hotel (Vaya International Hotel) where we had a great experience. It is a pity that the excellent professionism displayed by the porter/bellboy could not be carried over to the hotel receptionist who are supposed to be the face of the hotel.
After reading of trip advisor review i have choose this hotel for my two night stay in Changsha. Changsha is not similar city like Shanghai or Beijing an i have not expect so much from this hotel because Changsha is not turist hotspot. When we come in hotel Consigne service take care of our luggage and carrying to front desk. In front desk suprise because lady give to us bigger room for free. Of course She give to us two cupon for two free welcome drink in bar. Room was perfect. Clean, big with a lot of things. I have only little problem in restaurant because only one person speak English. Breakfast is good but you must calculate that you are on place where is not so much western people and western type of food for breakfast is not so much. Most of breakfast dishes is Chinese type of food. Staff is very frendly and allways open to help you. Great hotel, great staff.
Location Perfect in Wuyi Square, at the doorstep of Exits 7 & 8 of Wuyi Station. Within minutes to Pedestrian Street, Pozi Street with all the restaurants and shopping malls. Conceirge I am impressed by the conceirge services, besides giving directions to where to eat & what to buy, those guys gave attention to details. When I checked out at the upper level reception counter, the conceirge there found out that I was going to Wuyi station. When I came down the escalator, another conceirge was waiting on the ground level to bring me to the other hotel entrance nearest Exit 8 with escalators. Great job. I have made a new booking with Crown Plaza Changsha once again, enroute Zhangjiajie in 2 weeks time.
The hotel is located at very central in the city near to all the shopping malls and food outlets. it is very convenient and there's a train station right underneath. the hotel is quite old but the service provided is good.
The room were pretty old, we were upgrade to a suite on arrival but find that the ventilation of the room was very bad. Change to a better room on the 2nd day, can't fault the location though, right in the middle of everything, everything was good. Rdgs,
Very nice standard AP hotel. Far better than us quality. The gym / spa was quite nice and strangely has a pool table. Food very nice. It is quite a drive from the airport but honestly everything was. Not sure whe. The maglev will be finished from the airport but that will be quite nice.
My first experience with this hotel. The location was good and the room was reasonable. However the check-in and check out experience can be improved despite us having made earlier bookings and received a confirmation. The breakfast was average and the coffee was rather flat. The downside really was that the hotel staff cannot speak English and the rooms ending from 001 to 008 have a terrible view of another apartment directly in front, as you draw the curtains. There was extensive renovation of the mall area and metro station and construction noise and dis amenities will affect foot movement to and from the hotel. Arrival and drop off points for those with luggage was also affected.
