Parador de Ceuta Hotel La Muralla4.0 out of 5.0

More homely than flashy, the Parador is a well run hotel in the centre of things. It has good size rooms and friendly staff. Breakfast is extensive and good quality. Location is fantastic and you are only minutes away from many restaurants and cafes and the shops are straight ahead of you. Added advantage of parking in this busy city!
We've stayed in a couple of Paradores in Spain mainland, and they were worth the expense. This Parador, however, was a disappointment, and it felt as though it could do with a make-over around the edges. The expensive supper was mediocre, as was the breakfast. I felt guilty about having a swim in the pool, as it was about to close - chlorine matters! Nest time, we'll give Ceuta and its Parador a miss.
Our room was large and had a fabulous view including the Rock of Gibralter. We had a balcony and a table to enjoy our morning coffee and breakfast (not included). Ceuta to me seemed like the Mediteranean of the 60s and the hotel fit right in. Ceuta has no major tourist developments. It is too small. The hotel was located right across the street from the best beach in Ceuta and was in the central downtown area. We planned on spending a night and ended up staying for 5 days.
This hotel was absolutely horrible when you drive up to the hotel the yellow paint on the sidewalk is falling off when the taxi bought me there and I saw the way it looks from the outside I said this looks like a dump we must have the wrong address the taxi driver said no this is the right address you go inside the hotel and the lobby is dirty I checked in the room the room was absolutely filthy the carpet was absolutely filthy the carpet in the hallways looked absolutely disgusting even if the carpet is old somebody could take the time and shampoo it and clean it and the rooms the corners of the floors were dirty it was just filthy all over so somebody there should be in charge of quality control there aren't that many hotels and say you too so people don't have much of a choice but this hotel is an absolute disgrace! We couldn't wait to get out of there
Stayed here for a weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it. The rooms are very clean and the breakfast was substantial. Had a powerful shower in the bathroom and there is plenty of car parking. Very friendly staff and the Hotel is in an extremely central location. Pool is ample and clean.
This hotel has passed it's prime but has an old style charm all of its own. It's spotless, really comfortable, has loads of space and the staff are super friendly. The swimming pool is a nice size and we'll looked after. I spent a few days here, slept really well and came away feeling very rested. Much nicer than the Tryp.
Set in the small town of Ceuta this is still a bit of Spain in Africa. Hotel has an unusual approach and needs a bit of TLC compared to others in the Parador group, but having said that we would visit again. The food was fine with a European bias. Wine list was comprehensive and good value. Sea view rooms are available.
The Parador was certainly a very welcome oasis of calm after the chaos of Bab Sebta. Rooms are spacious and well equipped, but the communal areas feel very 1970's, almost, but not quite, to the point where it might be stylish... The restaurant has definitely seen better days - it felt jaded, though the food was fine. There's a great secure parking area, and wonderful views of either Gibraltar or the Moroccan coast, and I imagine that the pool would be a bonus in summer. So, practical, but as a Parador I'm surprised it hasn't had some more investment.
We arrived very late at night and left early to catch the ferry to Spain, so only had a couple of hours of precious sleep at the hotel. However, the Paradores was a good stopover point for our trip, with a spacious and clean room, a comfortable bed, and a secured parking lot. The room price was 124.99 euros total, for 2 adults and included 14.42 euros extra bed supplement for our toddler.
This is a dated place but the maitanance is OK. I have expected better for 150euros per night. The room is large and the 4years old child was free of charge. The timing of the restaurant is a little bit unadapted. The location is good near to beach but no private beach. The pool is OK, small but correctly supervised and safe for children. Very near to shoopig areas, I think if I come back to Ceuta I'll come back to this hotel
