This place may have a number of imperfections, but I would wholeheartedly recommend a visit. It’s situated in the middle of a beautiful piece of Roman countryside with lots of good walking around. The entrance road isn’t in great condition, but we managed to drive it several times in a standard car with no real issues. It is an agriturismo resort with lots of animals roaming free - you definitely feel closer to nature. The rustic style room we had was clean and comfortable with a great view. The SPA room is just that (ie a large room with a jacuzzi bath, wardrobe sauna and good shower), so don’t expect a Champneys style resort. It’s a nice, peaceful and private room however with herbal teas etc and space to relax. If arranged in advance, you can get a good massage at reasonable price too. That all said, the 2 most compelling reasons to go are: 1) the evening meals (made with local produce and recipes) that were just incredible, and 2) the warm hospitality of hosts Piera and Gioacchino. Despite our being non-natives and not speaking the language they made us feel completely welcome and patiently took the time to arrange what we needed and explain what we did not understand. I’d recommend without hesitation.
17 of us descended on this fabulous place to celebrate our friend's hen do! We were there for 2 nights and had an absolute blast! The owners, Gioacchino & Piera spoiled us rotten with the most delicious food and plenty to drink...we can't thank them enough for helping us to create some fabulous memories....we even went sightseeing to Rome for the day.....
My brother and myself needed a place to stay for three nights close to Castel Guiliano. Our local contacts recommended Monte La Puglia, and booked us in there. We were definitely in the low season, for the first two nights we were the only guests, while the third night there was some kind of meeting of dog-people. The place is lovely, and the local animals ranging from very friendly house dogs through lots of cute litters of Black (Vietnamese?) Pigs running free in the park, and geese, a goat and horses. We had dinner there the first night, lovely food, sitting alone in a large friendly dining hall, the cooking and serving staff definitely outnumbering us. Great service and attention. We also had our three breakfasts there, lovely spreads all three mornings, however, we were particularly impressed by the way the management noted our preferences and subtly changed the content of the breakfast table every morning to adjust to our tastes. Among the positive points, for me the friendly and attentive service given to us was the main reason I wanted to post this recommendation.
A very remote B&B in the middle of nowhere, which we normally like very much, but in this case we left immediately. The last part of the road is terrible, only by jeep or 4 wd you could give it a try, but the description doesn't warn you for this. We got our car damaged on the sides and front. The owners were not there and we found a bit back a man who gave us the keys. The room is beautiful and very big, Outside there are many wild animals, boars (with little ones this time), poo on the veranda of the B&B and around the house. We were planning to go out during the night, but didn't want to make the road by car more than necessary, but walking was not safe cz of the wild boars. This all together made us decide to leave immediately without waiting for the owners. If they fix the road, be present to welcome the guests, and clean the poo, at least on the patio, it would be a great wild experience, but for us, it definitely was a bad experience Ah, mobile phones don't have range ( Vodafone for sure)
If you want to get out of the city and enjoy some peace and quiet then this agriturismo is just what you need. It is in the middle of nowhere surrounded by animals (yes watch out for boars before opening the door). The food was great and particularly the homemade (chocolate) cakes. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are very very basics and a little bit of renovation would be nice. For instance the bathroom was really old and not very functional. It could have also been cleaned a bit better.
If you wish to combine Rome, Vatican and nature this is the place. The people is very friendly, the food is amazing and the landscape is unique. Italy always green. It takes you less tha 1 hour driving to get Rome and spend the day walking all the tourists sites. But if you are done with the city, you can have very nice wolks in the forest and find the waterfall which is inside the property. The food is the creation of the owners and is delicious. Then you can visit the castle and the lake at Bracciano few minutes from La Guardia. Highly recommended
This was our second visit , bringing our daughter this time to experience an authentic country Italian location. The food is amazing and we love the surroundings -animals everywhere and close to a beautiful lake to spend the day. We hope to visit again.
I still hope to repeat asap one of the most relaxing and peaceful weekend I've ever had. Beautiful place and landscape. Amazing food. Friendly animals. ... and the best reception from the two owners! Thank you very much
We were a family of four and arrived late from a very long journey but our hosts very kindly kept the kitchen open for us and prepared a wonderful meal. The farm has lots of animals running freely - dogs, rabbits, chickens, boar and piglets so if you are a light sleeper, take some ear plugs with you! I am a very light sleeper but didn't have any trouble with the noise using my ear plugs. August was very hot, in the 30s and there is no air conditioning in the apartment but Gioacchino provided us with a tall electric fan. There are spectacular waterfalls on the property so do take a walk to them but be sure to follow the same route back as we got very lost and ended up almost 10kms away! Piera very kindly made the 35km round trip to come and rescue us when we couldnt find a taxi. We were very grateful to their offers of help. Gioacchino even drove us to the train station early in the morning when we took a day trip to Rome. Fantastic hospitality. The huge "relax" room has a large screen TV and we were able to watch (in English) some DVDs from their large supply when we were tired in the evening. We were showed where the main light switches were and felt as if we could indeed relax home away from home. Gioacchino's advice to visit the castle in Bracciano and the necropolis in Cerveteri turned out to be highlights of our trip. Go to the necropolis it is amazing. Food at the on site restaurant at the necropolis (we had pastas) was very good. If you want a rustic break in natural surroundings with excellent hosts and good food, this is a great place to visit. You have the option of meals and I was kindly given some wonderful spices by Gioacchino after I said I loved some meat he had cooked. Piera makes THE most divine chocolate cake I have ever tasted (and I've eaten a lot!) Thank you so much Gioacchino and Piera!
We went to Tenuta Monte La Guardia after our stay in Rome. This was far more than we expected. A wonderful place in a beautiful location. We had nature all around us and we could walk into the wilderness and sightseeing many beautiful waterfalls, we walked for hours. We had a wonderful meal with local ingredients. Homecooked meal with pride and passion that were served in a homely and warm dining area. It felt like we were welcomed in the family. The hosts were so kind and serviceminded, they even drove us to Bracciano so we could shop and eat. The rooms were clean and had a unique personal touch. The room was propely equipped, and we even had our own cooking area. This stay was divine, and were more than we expected.
