Large trullo/ villa, with private 10x4 m pool, in olive grove 2km from town
This picturesque, tranquil, rural , air-conditioned property, consisting of a romantic 200 -year- old trullo and its integral but independent, modern villa is private without being isolated. The new pool is completely hidden from the lane and neighbours can barely be seen as the house is set amongst olive trees, yet the town of Ceglie is visible from the edge of the land.Whenever you visit, there is garden produce: figs, almonds, cherries, apricots, walnuts or pomegranates. A pool maintenance team arrives early in the morning twice a week and a gardener waters the plants. They try to time visits to avoid guests. Barbeque peacefully at the shady, garden table; lounge in the sunshine on the big veranda or sunbathe at the poolside. Sun or shade is accessible all day long. Sunsets are spectacular and at night, there is a clear, star-studded sky and the sound of the scopsowl. The trullo, has its own separate facilities, (wet room and kitchen) a large double bed, white wood chests of drawers, hanging space, linen, games, television, wifi and books. The villa has two comfortable rooms and a bathroom: one is a king-size bedroom with drawers and wardrobe; the other a living room with generous dining furniture, fitted kitchen, sofa-bed and character fireplace. There is a portable music centre with CDs. . It is possible to rent either the trullo, or the villa or the whole property Higher rates are charged for a larger group of renters ie 6-8 but this is not recommended as it spoils the living spaces and stretches the resources. 4-6 is ideal.
This quaint Italian home is particularly suitable for people who like the countryside and who would like to see the real Puglia. It is comfortable and homely, being our much-loved second home and not just an empty rental property. The big shady veranda and the 10x4 swimming pool are huge assets. Personally, I love the facility to swim whenever I want to and the ability to keep cool. The neighbours and the ladies who maintain the house are warm and hospitable. The check-in girls are thorough and readily available should you require assistance or advice. Seaside towns like Santa Sabina or Villa Nova on the Adriatic are 30 minutes away by car; long white beaches of Porto Caesario on the Ionian are an hour’s drive; the celebrated hill-top towns of Ostuni( the white city) , Locorotondo and Cisternino or Martina Franca and Alberobello are all within a 40 minute journey. There are many places of interest within easy reach besides those, noteably the caves at Castellano Grotte; Matera, the cave- town setting for the Passion of Christ and the whole of Salento with its picturesque resorts and beaches, together with the many fortified medieval sea-side towns like Otranto and Gallipoli. Bari and Brindisi are the big ports for Croatia and Greece. Sicily is near enough to visit for a short stay. Nearer to home, in Ceglie town itself, the Banana Club is a pretty swimming pool with restaurant, cafe showers and toilets. There are also caves nearby. The town has tennis courts and there is a good variety of quality eateries spanning the complete price range. The quaint, old, cobbled quarter comes alive at night in the season, with street cafes and restaurants, a bustling square, bars and live music, fiestas and stalls. Visitors usually love the tranquility of the house and garden as well as the convenient, accessible location. They also love the friendly, unpretentious and characterful old town with its party atmosphere especially in June,July and August.
The vacation home is air-conditioned and features a kitchen, 1.5 bathrooms, and a patio, and there's space to spread out with 2 bedrooms. Guests can enjoy a Smart TV and stay connected with free WiFi. The bathroom offers hair dryers and bidets. Other standard amenities include a private pool, a washing machine, and a fireplace. Limited housekeeping is available.

The property was everything we expected and more. It was wonderful to have so much privacy and such a fantastic pool.
We would highly recommend this place to a family or a couple.
The location is excellent for exploring Puglia.
Thank you
We enjoyed the stay in Ceglie Messapica very much. The trullo as well as the wide property were mostly inviting. The equipment very satisfying, terrace shady and nice. The pool very big, clean and beautifully laid out.
Being situated centrally we could go on many excursions in the surroundings.
We can recommend the vacation without restrictions!
We had a really enjoyable stay in the trullo. The property is traditional, but spacious & well equipped. The swimming pool was perfect in the 30C heat. Ceglie Messapica is just a 5 minute drive away & well worth a visit.
The only thing I would suggest to improve would be a larger patio table, & more outdoor chairs. The patio was perfect for al fresco dining.
We had a fantastic time at Trullo di Giovanna. The property is incredible and beautifully cared for - fig and olive trees and a gorgeous pool. We stayed in a warm July so couldn't get enough of it! House had everything we needed for a family of 2 parents with 2 teenagers - roomy and comfortable. Ceglie Messapica is a jewel of a town - the food is incredible and a lot less touristy than Ostuni (which is super close as well an gorgeous). Host was wonderful and we felt very taken care of. Highly recommended and would happily rebook for a future trip to Puglia (which i can't wait for!).
The trullo was absolutely amazing! We could not fault it. It comfortably accommodated our family of five! There were generous provisions in the kitchen, lots of BBQ wood, plenty of loo roll and it was great not even having to worry about taking towels with us! The nearby Ceglie is a lovely town with some very reasonably priced reastaurants and very few English tourists! There are many interesting places to visit nearby, notably for us, Matera, Lecce, Alberobello , Locorotondo and Ostuni (busy Saturday market). Highly recommended! Jo, the owner, was extremely helpful from start to finish. We want to go back to Puglia!
We had a fabulous 2 week’s stay at Trullo Giovanni. Very spacious and fully equipped property for our family of 4. We just loved spending time on the terras reading, having our meals & playing games in the evening. The pool was glorious - perfect size to do lengths and have fun with the kids in. Many an hour was spent next to the pool reading & sunbathing.
Ceglie Messapica is a delightful town with many lovely restaurants and a great atmosphere. We loved going into town in the evening for a stroll & a meal.
The nearby towns of Ostuni & Alberobello are a must although much busier than Ceglie. Lots of nice sandy beaches as well.
Really would recommend a stay in Trullo Giovanni if you are looking the experience the true Puglian life.

Wonderful stay in Jo's Trulli
My father and I had a wonderful stay at Jo's Trulli in early July. We were warmly welcomed by Jo and Alan, who quickly made us feel at home. The trulli is conveniently situated to a lot of sightseeing options (e.g., Lecce, Otranto) and it is well-equipped with a fridge, stove, washing machine, and plenty of pots and pans. The highlights are the hospitality of the hosts, Jo and Alan, the large patio out back, the excitement about staying in a "real" trulli, and the location. Would highly recommend to folks who want a relaxing and quiet break (e.g., enjoy chatting or reading at night -- no TV), want to use the place as a base for sightseeing in the area, and who want a taste of the "real" Italy. Thanks so much to Jo and Alan -- they made our stay very special! Anita
We had such a lovely time. Let's start with the kids. To them, the pool was everything. Luckily it was lovely. The check-in was smooth, with Joanna and Roberta (local host) being communicative and incredibly helpful. The location is superb. We wanted peace so stayed away from properties in town, but the proximity to the delights of Ceglie, Ostuni, Alberobello etc was superb. The property is lovely, our boys slept in the trullo, we in the adjoining room next to it. Everything worked and the shower (I love a good shower) was especially nice! Thanks Jo.

Nice traditional house with lovely pool.
Overall we had a lovely stay at the house. The trullo part of the house is so special. The pool was really nice and the kitchen has everything you need. We also used the barbecue outside. As we were 7 we used the bedsofa which was very hard to sleep in for two adults and as we wanted aircondition we put it in the second kitchen with very little space.
The town Ceglie nearby is really nice in the evening. As the house is a bit far out you need a car to go in. We also visited Alberobello and Ostuni which is near by and really beautiful.
We went to the sea nearby and there are nice beaches. Also possible to visit Matera from the house if you don't mind 1 1/2 h drive.
We think the house is a good location for trips in Puglia.

A wonderful location and a pleasant stay
When we arrived to the trullo, we found everything that we need for our stay. We had a very good impression of the location and found the house clean and comfortable. The two kitchen were in perfect condition with useful electric household. The two bedrooms were peaceful, comfortable. The first one was equipped with air conditioning system and a double wardrobe. In the other room we found some nice closets. In the aoartment the air was fresh but not chill, thus due to the stone material.Outside, there is a nice and large terrace surrounded by green spots and trees, where in most occasions we sunbathed. I highly reccomend this trullo because we found it almoust flawless.

Idyllic holiday
We have just enjoyed a wonderful week at this idyllic property. Everything about our stay was excellent, from the service we received from the owner to the warm welcome from the caretakers on our arrival. Jo, the owner, answered our initial enquiry very promptly and provided comprehensive information about the property and surrounding amenities.
The trullo is obviously a much loved place. It is well equipped, spotlessly clean and has everything that is needed for a great holiday. The recent addition of a pool is a major plus and it gave us great pleasure to sit by the pool in the late afternoon watching the swallows and swifts swooping down to collect water.
The property is secluded but not isolated, being just a few minutes from the delightful town of Ceglie. There are many excellent places to eat - we had very good meals at Osteria di Giuseppe, Osteria il Capitolo and Pizzeria da Mimma. In all of these the food was very good and reasonably priced.
We will return and heartily recommend this holiday accommodation to anyone wanting a tranquil, beautiful place to stay in Puglia.
We stayed at the trullo for 5 nights and loved every minute of it. Roberta is nice and efficient and made the check in/out process seamless. The location is perfect and made for a perfect base from which to explore Puglia. We took day trips to Ostuni, Otranto, Porto Cesareo...the town of Ceglie is just minutes away and it's very cute. The house was spotless and had everything you might need. The pool is amazing too - it was around 35C every day we were there, so it was perfect!! We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely be back!
One thing that would make this house even better is outdoor furniture for the patio, the patio is so nice and we would have loved to spend more time lounging around and reading there.
A few tips: Pizzeria Express is 6 minutes from the trullo and it's so cheap (4.5 euro for a margherita!) and delicious. Glass recycling is at the first intersection before town, so it's easy to drop off every day. We took plastic into town (Or ask Roberta for directions to the recycling center)...we just can't trow recyclables in the trash! Highly recommend this place for your vacation!

Wonderful Place For A Happy Family Holiday.
We have just returned from a fantastic family holiday with our daughter, her husband and our two grandsons at Trullo Di Giovanna which is ideally situated in lovely peaceful, extensive grounds with a great swimming pool ~ and all to ourselves!
This quaint Trullo provides comfortable accomodation, is well equipped and the owner looked after our needs admirably and provided a travel cot and high chair for our 9 month old grandson.
The Trullo is just 10 mins. away from the beautiful hilltop town of Ceglie Messapica which has a useful supermarket for provisions and lots of restaurants with excellent food at very reasonable prices.
It is also within easy reach from other terrific hilltop towns with amazing historical centres with beautiful Baroque architecture, piazzas and attractive narrow alleyways to stroll round and go out for a romantic evening meal ~ Ostuni, Martina Franca, Cisternino and Locorotondo to name just four.
The Trullo is also just around 30 mins from the coast for sea and beaches such as that at Torre Santa Sabina.
Further afield you can visit Alberobello, Monopoli, Matera, Lecce and Otranto ~ all superb. Obviously a car is an essential part of a holiday such as this.
All in all, a brilliant place to stay to tour Puglia, which I would thoroughly recommend.
Malcolm and Dilys Griffiths
We have just returned from our two week holiday at this authentic Trullo and villa. We were greeted by Roberta who showed us around the property. She was also just a phone call away if needed. When we ran out of gas in the kitchen Roberta was straight round with a replacement bottle. The property has everything you need for your holiday. Jo even supplies beach/pool towels and cool bags for days out. There are two well stocked kitchens and two bathrooms. The property is situated on a large plot with mature shrubs, olive fig pine and almond trees. The back veranda was a great place to eat and sit in the evening listening to scips and long earned owls. The large pool was fantastic after a day touring. It is surounded by lovely flowers which attracted a large amount of butterflies. The outdoor furniture is of good quality. The was always somewhere to sit in the sun or shade at all times of the day. There is a well stocked supermarket just a few minutes drive away. The wonderfull town of Ceglie is just a few miles, where the are some fabulous places to eat and wander through the alleys. The property is well situated to visit all the lovely towns of the Itria valley, they are only 20- 40 minutes drive. The beaches can be reached in 20 minutes, Matera is only 1.5hrs drive. If you should see the maintenance and cleaning people they were pleasant and courteous. I would not hesitate to recommend this property if you are looking to book your holiday in this region of Puglia.
This property looked really cool in the listing but it wasn’t for us. The Trullo is more like glamping and very remote. Not walking distance to the town and 35-45 minutes to the beach. The yellow well water for showers smelled like sulfur and the kitchen has a concerning propane gas smell. No hot water on first day because no instructions on how to turn on water heaters. The ACs have been capped so didn’t get cooler than 24 which was hot. The check in was tough because we got lost and the property manager had to leave. Then on checkout (we left a day early because of the issues but paid for entire stay) the manager was very thorough to examine every little thing including trash cans were emptied and asked if we broke a plastic trash can that had the lid removed (we didn’t). The highlights: the owner Joanna was very responsive to emails and nice; wild cats and dogs that visit for food; and little tiny hummingbirds. Overall tho the negatives outweighed the positives for us.

So good that we want to keep it for ourselves
We have spent 4.5 weeks in this property. We searched for a house where I could celebrate my 50th birthday. I always wanted to stay in a trullo and now my dream is realized. We had some absolutely wonderful weeks in the house. You will find everything you need in the house. Washingmachine, freezer, games... you name it...
The patio is absolutely wonderful even if it was a bit windy during our stay.
The location is in my opinion very good, maybe a little too far to the sea, there will be many km in the car since thera are a number of beaches to choose from.
Ceglie is a nice town with everything you could wish for. Don't miss Cantina San Marzano where you buy the local wine "Primitivo Amabile", PAM Supermarket has everything you need. The Saturday market is worth a visit even if the Saturday market in Ostuni is bigger.
I am so grateful that I chosed this house out of all I looked at. The communication with Jo is so simple and warm. She is really friendly and very accommodating as well as the caretakers Antonietta and Pietro.
Something you should not miss when you rent Trullo di Giovanna is Masseria Seppunisi, a dairy nearby, here you can buy daily fresh cheeses of all kinds. Mozzarella, Ricotta, and Straciatella and Burratine.
Many nice restaurants in the town. Had there been one or two bikes it had been more than accomplished.
We will absolutely consider to rent this again. This is a part of Italy that we really love!
Thanks for you hospitality Jo!
5 stars or more!

Attentive host but disappointing stay
Our stay was uncomfortable, little thought for guests- not value for money, and sadly we counted the days until we could leave the property.
1. Property described as spacious sleeping 6-8 (with a premium for larger groups) but only included space and furniture for 4 not our group of 6
2. Air conditioning only in two rooms and not in one bedroom and main living area
3. The neighbours dog wandering onto the property and scared the children
4. The outdoor floor of the property is extremely sharp and uncomfortable over pine needles– even the walk to the pool – despite the path
5. Some broken furniture (shade on sun loungers), dining chair, umbrella stand and 2 doors scraping on the floor were difficult and noisy to open
6. Pool towels were provided, but these were extremely old. Sheets felt like they were left over from family use not purchased for fee paying guests
7. At 6.30am, the gardener visited without warning from the host when the children were outside, this was for us a safeguarding issue for us particularly in such a remote location.
The host was responsive and provided new pillows (replacing small cushions stuffed into pillow cases) and a new poolside umbrella limited shade by the pool. The figs on the property were lovely, the pool is large and clean, the remoteness and quiet was positive and it was good to be in a Trullo. Overall our 9 day stay was an unpleasant experience for us, which somewhat ruined our stay.
We felt we were in a paradise!! We loved it! We had Three amazing days. Definitely we will come back. Everything was perfect. The owner looks after every details, she provides towels for each of us, for the swimming pool, for the bath and for the face.. all super clean and ironed. Our beds were made with lovely smell bed linen... it was so wonderful. The house is very big and beautiful. Air conditioning, super fresh house. A lot space outside the house...and the swimming pool.. the cherry on the cake. Roberta, a very kind young lady, always available and very nice. Prompt to help you anytime. The owner very friendly and caring. We felt in heaven! Thank you.
struttura davvero bella e ben organizzata e pulita.
Great Place, a lot bigger than expected, oh and a Pool!!!
Fantastic stay at the Trullo, the villa is a lot bigger than expected. We were a family of 4 and we have more than enough room, two bathrooms and 2 kitchens. Outdoor space was great for eating at night with a BBQ area. The best part was the amazing pool area, where the kids spent all day in safety within earshot of the house. The villa was set within a large area around it very private and extremely private not a sound from the neighbours.
A short drive away was a small town with all you would need for your relaxing stay.
We had great communication with Jo throughout the process, even whilst we were in the villa, quick response to any questions which is very reassuring.
